- Jason Williams is a retired American basketball player who was a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for twelve seasons during the late 1990s and 2000s. A native of West Virginia, Williams played college basketball for Marshall University and the University of Florida. The Sacramento Kings selected him in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft. Williams also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic throughout his career. Due to his flashy style of play and popularity of the And1 Mixtape Tour during his playing years, Williams was given the nickname "White Chocolate".
He started all of Miami's playoff games in 2006 when they won the NBA championship. The Heat named Williams one of their top 25 players of all time in 2007
I LOVE how AI gives him respect after white chocolate crosses him and lays up. They're both legends.
He didn’t cross him
One of the best NBA-passers of all time...pure joy to watch for guys like me who - in terms of highlight reels - dig flashy passing much more than slam dunks. In the NBA almost everyone can dunk, for most of em are tall anyway. Come a guy like Spud Webb, all of a sudden dunking becomes special, extraordinary. But with passing...there are only a handful of players that could/can pass like White Chocolate.
Jason would've been a star in todays league.
He was
Easily. He is better than over half of the guards today
A fregging super star
What's you problem?? He and magic Johnson were the first doing that😒
Just think if he was with a real good team besides the Webber kings team..
This guy is unique on its own. I,m so sad i didn't saw him play during my generation but so happy for him for winning a championship. I want to see more of him but those days are gone.
I did he was one of my favs 4sho
Him and Nick Van Exel were amazing to watch live.
One of my top 5 favorite players of all time. I'm 30 years old. That's 30 years of basketball love.
Lester Morales even when u were a baby?
People with good "handles" are usually out of control and don't make good decisions. You can count on Jason to make good decisions with his handles.
Right...... you don t play 12 years in the NBA as a point guard unless you can ball and have a high basketball IQ!
coolmix44 lmao ikr. Plenty of people who played with him said he has amazing court awareness. Which a pg needs. Obviously didn't watch Jason.
Alan Lee you're wrong. Before Rose got hurt in 2011 he was the definition of great decisions they lost the playoffs pretty much because he was hurt. That was his prime year and he's still the youngest MVP ever
percussion jamz I agree with you guys to a certain extent. There are so many better guards with better awareness. You must've forgotten about Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas and all those greats. Pete Maravich and Stockton were better than JW by far. Plus they have better handles, Magic never showcased it much and neither did Stockton. They were pass first guards
KeShawn Mahone it Isiah not Isaiah
damn, RIP Lorenzen Wright.
You know, in skateboarding to be pro you dont just have to be good you have to have style to go pro. Jason Williams had style and thats what people want to watch.
When they played to amaze the public!!
which the only reason they are getting paid.....its entertainment.....thats all...NBA NFL MLB....have no real reason for being around other than that....
What do you mean? You don't think 50, stand still 3 pointers a game is fun to watch?
@@extraordinarilybasic3250Hell no it’s not lol
He was playing in the wrong era. Hed be a superstar today.
before curry, kyrie and westbrook, he is was and will always be the legendary point guard. DAMN THAT ELBOW PASS!
I remember seeing him at DuPont High every night dribbling tennis balls with work gloves on. I was there skateboarding. Guess who did better in life.
You did
daaaaaafsa
We LOVED him here in Sacramento. Later, we got Mike Bibby, which was a better point guard, just not as exciting as Williams.
The Sacramento Kings Jason Williams number 55 Jersey was the best selling jersey in the NBA for a while.
Loooking back at it, Williams was a better player. You should have held on to him and let him mature. He was outstanding in Memphis for a bad franchise, and later got his ring as instrumental piece from Miami late in his career. Was great in thr finals that year.
If he was playing like that today, they would suspend him for showing off!
Back when the NBA was worth watching!
amen
dodgeguyz I agree
They wouldnt suspend him...lol
Kinda the opposite... they would hand him the keys to the offense
Yeah, probably...it's a shame.
White chocolate!!! That Nigga was that n still is idc what anyone say put him in this league n new age wouldn’t know how to handle em n all da tricks n the crowed pleaser makes you seat at edge of your seat cuz every moves was highlight from him n was an all around loved player in the league and respected and kept life private from media that’s somthing you don’t see now just humble man much love and respect give this man his flowers one of best to do it if all time n futures to come that k you JW
Definitely one of the most underrated players of all time.
Overrated*
The man got soul.
Thank you man for all the fun you put in the game
3:37 I had this dvd as a kid and I always thought this was the most badass thing of all time
Jason comes from a great family of fantastic good hearted people. His Aunt Kathy and the others are fine a persons as it gets. He never got to meet his awesome uncle “Dumpy” who led the brothers into basketball greatness. Jason moves on the court just like Dumpy, Terry & Jerry. They all are phenomenal stars.
Him and Iverson in todays NBA would be unstoppable⭐️
I had this Anklebreakers on DVD in high school. Man I wonder if I can find it.
Old podunk WVa boy lol, that dude is AWESOME!!! Great person Great athlete, constant highlight reel
Who you got?
Kyrie Irving
Jason Williams
Allen Iverson
Depends - JWill for his handles/passing/entertainment. AI for his scoring ability, crossover and toughness / Kyrie for the 2nd best handles out of the three/ taking it to the rim and his shooting %.
Ai
@@Abstrack23 I agree with all except Julio Jones lol
In 1 on 1: Kyrie - he can shoot, dribble (better than almost anyone ever), defend, and rebound.
Williams wasn't a great shooter, and Iverson couldn't handle the ball like Irving.
As an addition to an NBA team, it would depend on the needs and chemistry of the team.
@@myblacklab7 Kyrie taking games off cuz he's mentally weak. A.I. first, cuz he'll die for the win. Then J-Will cuz he gon show up and give a shit. Kyrie can't stay healthy or out of his own head.
The pass that you'll always pay attention!
Divac: cough
That frickin behind the back reverse pass was still the single greatest pass in NBA history
Definitely right there 👍🏼
"....we can play with a beach ball." Then drills it!
Thanks for this comment. I remembered seeing the clip of him warming up and hearing him say that in his great West Virginia southern drawl so I just searched "Jason Williams beach ball." Might not have found it without you. Now just gotta find the video where he's warming up and makes an around the back kick pass.
White Chocolate and AI dapped each other up now that’s gangster!! 🤣😂
Him and Allen Iverson were two of my favs in early 2000s. I was in middle school
Guy is a virtuoso and has fun doing it. Dangerous in the transition...
“He can stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change, that guy” lmaooo wtf
Master Roshi master roshi
"Hes got a bag'a tricks" you damn right, an then some 🤣🔥
A lot of Jason"s ball handling and passing skills came right out of the Pete Maravich playbook and who could blame him?
Jwill never saw Maravich play until later in his career.
@@damarcomusik639 Lucky for JWill the bal, handling rules loosened up a lot in his time.
Jason Williams is so underatted ( just my opinion )
Jason: Chest pass? What's that?
LOL...that boy was cold back in the day. Could've went to a couple of Finals with the Kings but were stopped by Kobe and a prime Shaq.
And Tim Donaghy and gamblers and a corrupt commissioner who hated C. Webb
@@theomen7665 this comment is spot on ..
Mann I love this jason
he was fun to watch
Coolest dude on the court
One of the greatest passers and ball handlers of all time! White Chocolate has over 4,000 assists in his career! Just on those alone he should be in the Hall of fame!!
somebody guard that white boy
Rodney from baby boy cant
Jason is his name
He can't be guarded.
I remember J-Dubb during his Kings days with Webber and Divac. Dynamic trio! And they got peja as rhe sniper.
He's basically the passer version of KI. KI has better scoring and J-Dubb has better assists. Both has crazy flashy handles that are a ton s of fun to watch
White Chocolate, baby! He was so fun to watch.
" he can stop on a dime and give you $0.09 change" I like that, may have to ease this in my vernacular somehow.
the most entertaining NBA player :)
Yup. Up there with Allen Iverson, Rafer Alston and Pete Maravich
I hit our center right in the face with a pass in high school too. Probably the best damn pass in an organized game in my life. I chased an offensive rebound to the foul line and saw his defender follow me out of my peripheral. So I just touch passed it back over my head to him wide open right under the freaking basket, and it hits him in the chin and we didn't score.
It still pisses me off. 🤢
White chocolate playing today would've been a superstar today
We didn't get to see The Professor(streetballer) to be NBA player but at least NBA had Jason Williams aka White Chocolate. I reckoned Jason is the NBA version of The Professor while Grayson Boucher being the Professor on the street
J Will played against the best basketball players on the planet. Please don't compare the two.
Yooooo white chocolate got that sauce
I did not expect Jason to sound like Boss Hog
Ι love Jason 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Lol that last part
linkequalsBA hahahaha best part with the 3 made..it don't matter
Arguably the best ball handler of all time, and in my opinion best ball handler of our generation, I remember when he crossed up Gary Payton and made Gary try to trip him lol.. Dude was fun to watch growing up
He played in the same era as AI who had better overall handles. JWill was skilled in transition but didn't have the type of handles that AI had to create his own shot consistently. He was also a turnover machine.
@@darkmatter7668 nope. A.I. was a scoring machine, stronger and more athletic. J-Will had the third greatest handles of all time. In terms of pure ball handling, J-Will gets the nod. A..I. is the best small pg of all time. J-Will sauced everybody who ever stepped in front of him
@@theomen7665 Nothing you said changes the fact that JWill could not use his dribble to create open shots for himself consistently. Did you watch him play or are you going off clips and highlight reels?
@@darkmatter7668 I was in tenth grade when he was at Florida and he trashed my Kentucky Wildcats. Had no problem getting his shot when he wanted it. He was unselfish so he didn't look for his shot. I watched him every time I could on t.v. I grew up with Jason Williams. Can't put me in the "young kid" box, champ
@@darkmatter7668 the model for a point guard in that era was not Steph Curry. You think if people don't put up 25+ pg they can't score? He had. HOF scorers and deadly shooters on each team he played on. Why would consistently look for his own shot. Nothing you said changes the fact that he never consistently looked to score. But when he did...he got wherever he wanted to go
One of my top 5 players
What's that hip hop song "Out there in the wild the city never sleeps" at 1:42 ?
Killer track.
so real
I wish traveling and palming the ball was legal when I played. 😎
J Dubb was "White Boy Rick" Gangster approved.
The fact he's country af and not from the city is impressive too
Wow that was Larenzen Wright in the beginning R.I.P.
Super underrated
In today’s game he would have a green light to play like he wants. Old school coaches rained him in and really kept him from being the player he could have been. If he had played for the Lakers it would’ve been the return of showtime and would have been embarrassed
Funnest player to ever watch
Everyone playing basketball, This guy playing NBA street 😂
THE WHITE "ALLEN IVERSON".
AMAZING
Dope video
2:35 Jason Williams sounds like Pete Wheeler from Backyard Sports games
Man I miss c webb I will on the kings... Hell even the mitch richmond, mackmood abdul era
RIP Lorenzen Wright...
low key j wills in and out was his best move
Im not into basketball but what happened to him? Ive seen people saying ‘was’
That was a bad ass white boy on that 06 Miami Heat team
Honestly Jason Williams created the jelly look at 1:23
That boy was carrying his ass off
Rip lorenzen wright
He is king 😮
magic ai and any other guard you can name with a Handel back in that area carried so stop hating on Jason Williams RS
magic didnt carry, in the 80s carrying was called heavily.
Osama Bin Laden same shit
This dude was ridiculous how come he never made the all star team
🙏🏻
Is that jump move at 0:59 legal?
Vincent Jacobs Yes, as long as he isn't in shooting motion
Austin Walls umm no it's not. A clear carry. Only thing is they never used to call it back then
Jon Blaze I didn't see a carry, his hands don't go under the ball but he's holding it from the side which is a move rajon rondo did a lot back when he played for the Celtics. Jason Williams must've had some huge hands to do that move like Rondo
Vincent Jacobs that's what I was about to say
Yes very legal!
i watched this dude play. he was magic johnson 2.0. just needed a jumper tho...
Common problem with the streetballers.
im just asking so Jason Williams litteraly has Magic Johnson skills but why does people say Magic is obviously better i dont get it, also rings dont matter in terms of skill, yall must know that
1:33 seriously how could anyone stop that?!
If he's young like step curry, kevin durant, and lebron james he's probably the best of the best nba player aside lebron and durant
Yeah G.P with the Grayson Allen too. Couldn't stop White Chocolate.
The 2005-06 heat dont have a ring without J will
Legend
This is Kurorkos last evolution.
@2:06 Da Glove tried to trip him😔
He so overlook when people mention pg in the nba he was a problem
That pick hop he would do some time. I used to do a similar move all the time when I played. Mine alot of times I would hop. Than do a step pick jumper. Not as good as Jason obviously.
It don’t matter to me… I could play with a beach ball. Drops it in like it’s nothing
Mac McClung could be the next Jwill if he would just be patient .
Different type of player but similar in terms of having a lot of natural talent.
No chance
@@ramsdukefsu22 you are right at this point. McLung can't find his way out of D League.
Mac is closer to JR Smith.
@@zeroturn7091 exactly! .. but JR Smith is a golfer now.. he is playing college golf somewhere ..
The Eminem of the NBA
He made me wanna not shoot but pass
Damn lorenzen wright is here
RIP Lorenzen Wright
lets b passive.so yo, what do u know? oh my bro is so good basketbo yo
Him, Rod Strickland and Nick Van Exel would destroy the NBA today.
1:46. Name of song please. ...
LuisAcuna1396 your mom
I am new to basketball. How is this not travel at 1:00?
He didn't stop dribbling.
The ball landed just before he landed.
Nice catch
You ever seen a no-call on a carry?
