A note about the Cyberpunk ttrpg section:
The idea of cyberpsychosis wasn't part of the original draft of the game. It was originally that the more corporate cybernetics you put into your body, the more control you gave to the corporations, until you finally lose control over your own body and become a mindless slave to whoever owns the most of you.
This was deemed too radical for the time and replaced with the now problematic loss of humanity.
THAT WOULD'VE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER
Literally walking stocks, what the fuck could go wrong?
That makes a lot more sense.
wait what if each part was separately controlled by the corporate it was produced by, that would look so fucking funny if one leg was made by like walmart and the other leg was made by... is there a corp big enough to actually fight against the walmart family? do they have enemies..? hm
@@snartsnart2718 Elon Musk Incorporarted, probably.
Plot twist: a subculture of pseudo-intellectuals give themselves up willingly to be controled by Elon Musk.
Can you imagine how heated he gets about unionizing Polygon
Russell Johnson they are unionized! there was a vox strike a few months ago that ended successfully
I clearly haven't been following the struggle closely enough! I didn't realize the contract extended to subsidiary properties too! That's amazing, now I can fantasize about BDG getting heated in the union Slack channel while refusing to be a steward in addition to his workload.
he's a member of the vox union :•}
It's probably the Vox union that protects BDG's right to say these things in his videos.

...Are you sure that's not just CGI? The flames looked way too clean, and the lack of any visible smoke or ash is odd.
Also, I feel like Brian setting something on fire in the middle of Polygon's offices would be a health and safety nightmare.
brian appears to have grown the moustache entirely for the waluigi video, so i wouldn't put it past him.

Someone explain Guillotiney to me. I'm too dumb to get it.
That thing about “Humanity Points” in Cyberpunk (rpg) actually seems pretty un-Cyberpunk (genre) to me. Isn’t the idea in Cyberpunk that tech isn’t an inherently bad thing and can actually be a good means of resistance against the powers that be? The problem isn’t tech, it’s that said tech is owned by the powerful.
It was designed as a game mechanic. Unfortunately it's what led modern cyberpunk to be more about "how can we remain human with cybernetic parts" to "how can the powers that be control us through tech". If I were ever to run a cyberpunk game, I'd replace those same numbers with the idea that if you have too many enhancements, your immune system goes haywire and slowly kills you. This is loosely based on the fact that medical implants have to be exchanged every few years as your immune system tries to isolate it. Same mechanic, without any of the bad implications.
AbsolX Guardian: Deus Ex Human Revolution does something kind of similar. In order to keep your body from rejecting cybernetic enhancements, people have to take a really expensive drug regularly. This creates the condition where only the rich (and gangsters) can have meaningful access to cybernetics. It isn’t actually implemented as a gameplay feature though, the main character not needing the drug is a big part of the plot.
It could be a superiority thing. Maybe like based around choice rather than need? For example, getting cybernetic enhancements for the sole purpose of becoming superior over other humans and seeing unenhanced humans as a lower entity and then growing resentful because of this. Probably not their intention but just a theory
I think the humanity penalty reflects how you sell your soul to corporations. If you're a miner and your company forces you to cut off your arm and install a pickaxe just so you can keep your job that must mess with your mind. Also, lets be real. If you buy a pair of Google cyberlegs they'll probably stop working every once in a while until you download a software update (which is backdoored by the NSA too)
It's been years since I played so I may be misremembering or just recalling a Homebrew rule we had in place, but it was in fact on a scale: a cybernetic arm to replace an arm you'd lost to an accident cost significantly less humanity than an expensive pair of designer eyes you got because they were trendy. Iirc cybernetics optimized as weaponry cost significantly more humanity than mundane prosthetics too. But yeah it was a far from perfect system.
The one about crunch hit really hard.
what a perfect.. tense zoom and milked, one-breath laugh o u o''
