As a self-taught swimmer, I heavily rely on swim videos from the Pros and coaches. This demonstration is very unique, which I have never seen in other videos before.

This is by far the best illustrations of high elbow catch. I like it when you show your full swimming too at the end after the drill.

Thank you, Coach Mandy, for explaining that the catch is not formed from the shoulder but from the hip and core rotation. This is news to me. I always used my shoulder strength to form my catch, but I could tell there was a problem with it. Thank you for clarifying this. I will try rotating into it more the next time I'm in the water, hopefully today! :) Thank you for another excellent video!

Perfect timing. This is exactly what I’ve been working on for the last couples of days. There was one video only called the scatch drill, but your’s is much more descriptive. Will use it this week for my practices. Thank you coach.

Hi Mandy, thanks so much for your time to demonstrate this technique- catching the water. I have been struggling with the catch for 20 something years as I learned to swim by myself. The Catch Series with step by step breakdowns from start to finish and reverse of the demonstration are very clear and eye opening exercises. Your explanation is crisp with tips and pointers for focus on. You really are the perspicuous teacher and coach I have ever seen.

Thanks Mandy for showing how to do armstroke the proper way, always the best swim instructor, we are living in hard times at this time, the coronavirus is affecting everyone around the world so I'll go back to swimming when everything's back to normal.

This was extremely helpful. It’s the first time I’ve seen it broken down like that and was very helpful to see in and out of the water. Thanks!

Hi Coach Mandy, I've watched this a couple of times now. When I first saw the dryland practice I was confused. The opposite to me. When I watched it again and the Ledecky review it made sense. When I'm at the catch with my stroking arm, I'm still rotated down to the bottom of the pool and not rotated the other way until near the finish. This is what threw me. Then I realised that this is because I'm still working on my timing and my recovering arm is still slow to re-enter. Always thought provoking videos! Thanks CM.

EXCELLENT once again... it should be noted that not only does the elbow not drop, the shoulders also remain "high" and "out front"... well done!!!
