Man, gar was a trully giant on drums. He changed the metal scene with his jazz approach on drums and metal (props to mustaine for blending with his style too). Makes me so happy that after all this years someone in megadeth ranks plays the songs the way it should be played.
Respect to the other drum masters megadeth had... they changed the drums so well it could be played by them and barely notice a difference. But the style and swing gar had, has never been replicated till now.

Love this song! I discovered the peace sells album about a year ago. I just turned 13 and was really getting into metal. It changed my life. It became the soundtrack of my life for the next 4 months. From then on, megadeth became my favourite thrash band. Even after listening to exodus, testament, anthrax, slayer, kreator, sodom, havok, overkill and razor, megadeth are still the kings in my books!
Peace Sells is awesome... cool that kids are STILL discovering this! I was about the same age back in the day watching the official vids for Wake up dead and Peace sells on Headbanger's Ball trying to explain to my mom and brother what this was all about... in 9th grade I made a tape of clips for speech class that used Into the lungs of Hell, set the World Afire and Peace sells for examples, basically as an excuse to play some metal in school!

I have listened to the Peace Sells album countless times and it literally never gets old. I still get goosebumps from it! Its a fucking masterpiece! I would venture to say probably the best thrash album of all time!

Drummers, great drummers are spastic. This guy is balanced, in sync, and one inch away from exploding. Awesome!
That was brilliant, Gar Samuelson would've been impressed, but Nick Menza made it for me. Never bettered, never will be, that guy was a one off, bless him.👍🤗
I love Nick to pieces, but Dirk is the closest thing to Gar that Megadeth has ever had. Dirk has the jazz vibe and captures the intricacies of the original drum tracks. Nick wasn't a big ghost notes type of guy, and Dirk is. Nick, and even Marty didn't play Gar and Chris's stuff correctly. Dirk and Kiko is a combination of all players in Megadeth, the best of all worlds.
It can be argued that the original line up is the best and that Peace Sells is the superior album, but that's an argument for another time.
As far as I'm concerned Dirk has been the only one to play Gar like Gar, which is specific and unique and hasn't been captured by anyone since.
Gars the best.

Yeah, you're all right in what you say, but there was always swing in Nicks timing, even Chris Poland said it. Nick Menza worked for Buddy Rich too.👍

The drumming is amazing. Dirk plays it in the spirit, groove, feel and attitude that it's meant to be played. The mix and quality of sound sounds great. EXCELLENT!

You have to be kidding me. This has been out for two months and I am just finding it now? I have been wanting Dirk to do a drum cam video of this since I first saw the Rattlehead video as it has to be my favorite track off of Peace Sells and one of Gar's best contributions to the band. The galloping rhythm at the start, the double bass and just the seamless tempo changes. It's just incredible and you nailed it Dirk. If there was any reason to look forward to the upcoming Megadeth album, you are it.

Absolutely a beast, miss those complex stuff and major drum lines form soilwork.
I like Dirk don't get me wrong. But I like Dirk with Scarve and Henry Ranta in Soilwork. Listen to A Preditor's Portrait and Natural Born Chaos. Dirk sounds like a really good fit here too- skeptical at first but it is a showcase of feel and technique rather than just death metal!
Dirk is like a combination of all previous Medadeth drummers. Very impressive.

Absolute respect. We already know how godly he is with his double-bass techniques, but what makes him even better is how he respects all of Gar's single-bass grooves everywhere. Absolutely true to the originals is what makes everyone loves those.

The difference between a good drummer and a great drummer is literally a matter of milliseconds. It's knowing how to pull back or push forward by fractions of a second depending on what the song needs in that moment.

Dirks and feel and gestures remind me a lot of Gar - after all I think he fits perfectly the shoes of a Megadeth drummer. I just a hope that keeps the old-school way of drumming alive too - it is somewhat hard to imagine Megadeth record filled with blastbeats - or maybe not, time will tell! Excellent job on this song!
