    I picked up a pair used for $75 for my desktop. I replaced the Polk t15 speakers i was using. Powering with a Fossi audio BT10a amplifier with a Yiaema dac2 headphone amp dac. It kicks ass for under $200. Definitely a bargain for under $100. I'm 64 so I'm not new to this.

    Hey Mike! I own two pairs of these, used for near field monitors. I have had them for a couple years now, have been really happy with them. The 50kHz capability helps open up frequencies below that you can actually hear. I got the same linear graph when I measured mine. Not bad at all for the price point. I got mine for about the same price new on a Black Friday deal. I think the are great bang for the buck.

    Nice review of a good speaker that I think makes sense for a lot of people. I had purchased a pair and someone wanted them so I passed them on and found a set of refurbished for $65 and got them back.

    Nice monitors in the studio. Gives a good semblance of what an upper mid-range tier speaker sounds like. Did you listen to those super-tweeters? Their response extends far below ultrasonic into the upper highs. Add a sub for full range. Nice.

    Buydig has open box models for $99 if you're uncomfortable with used. Even though I already have a pair, I'm buying another set and figuring out something to do with them if they ever hit $73 new again.

    Great video, just what I was looking for on this speaker. But I have a question. Would I be able to hook my Audio Technica turntable directly to these speakers? Or do I need a reciever or amp?

      These are not powered speakers, you will need an Amp and a preAmp. Some receivers have a builtin preAmp for the turntable.

    muy buenos altavoces, tengo altavoces de $U 4000 y los Sony me encantan, si valieran U$ 2000 todo el mundo trataría de comprarlos, pero son muy baratos y la mayoria no le dan una escucha. Notable Sony.

    I'm going to upgrade the crossover on a set of these with a GR Research speaker modification kit; he did a video on it two weeks ago. I also sent Danny the Sony SS-CS3 for a speaker mod evaluation.

    Hi! Maybe anybody could give me advice. Will Sony SA-CS9 subwoofer match these speakers? I want make a present for my dad but nothing understand about that

    • @sandergoldberg4508
      @sandergoldberg4508 2 года назад

      Any subwoofer will work. You have to make sure there is a subwoofer RCA out from the back of your receiver. If you don't have one, then you will need a powered subwoofer that has a built-in crossover so you connect the main speaker wires from the receiver to the back of the subwoofer and from lineout connectors on the back of the subwoofer another pair of speaker wires to the speakers.

    • @ramondelgado6778
      @ramondelgado6778 10 месяцев назад

      Yes! That's a great little sub! Just play with the crossover setting and volume/gain control to get the perfect blend with the speakers (so that the speakers nor the sub are overpowering the other) and you'll find they are a nice match!!! FYI....those would make an amazing present! Lucky dad!!!

    Hello Mike, do you recommend them to be used as a full home theater system? (like to replace all my 9 from a 9.2 atmos system?)

    • @mydogskips2
      @mydogskips2 Год назад

      Unless you have a HUGE room and/or want crazy volume levels, I think they would work great for home theater, they sound clean and do have decent sensitivity and dynamic range, just don't push them too hard, like all speakers they do have a limit before they'll break up and distort, but I do have a pair myself and think they are very good, and not just for the price, but in general. Just under $200/pair is what they're going for these days, but hopefully they'll come back down, though they have been hovering there for a while.
      There may be better options for Dolby Atmos though, especially since the price has gone up so much on the Sony speakers, I got my pair for $75, not $200. I'm not sure what you have already, but you might look into Klipsch Reference Cinema, you can get a 5.1.4 system (the satellites have upward-firing drivers as well as forward-firing hence the .4) for about $400, and Klipsch are very dynamic, lively speakers which would do movie sound really well. Also, even though the pictures make them look small, the satellite/surround speakers are actually full-size, I think they have 5.25-inch drivers, so they're actually slightly bigger than the Sonys in that regard.
      Personally, AND THIS IS JUST ME, but I would NOT do a Dolby Atmos cinema system with these speakers, I think you can do better for movies, they sound just a little thin to me, they're very clear/clean sounding speakers that do music pretty well(understanding their limits with volume, dispersion, and bass output), but for movies you might want a slightly fuller, I mean a thicker/denser, warmer sound signature to create a richer sound sphere.

      @Mike On Audio my main system is Infinity Interlude IL50S, IL10s and IL25c, driven by a Carver AV 705x amplifier and Marantz AV 7005 pre-amp processor. The Sony's would be a first starter system

    • @ramondelgado6778
      @ramondelgado6778 10 месяцев назад

      What's your budget? Keep in mind, these speakers scale up really well. However, you don't need to spend a lot to make them sing wonderfully. At home, I put the Sonys into rotation with a Marantz PM7000N ($1,200.00) and Emotiva PT-1 preamp ($499) + Emotiva A2 amplifier ($499), and they sound soo good that I have not been able to justifiably spend over $1,000.00 to replace them. I've listened to to B&W, Monitor Audio, Focal, Wharfedale, Polk Reserve series......There's magic in the SSCS5's. In my office, I'm using a Marantz NR-1403 ($499) and they sound GREAT. Also, it has pre-amp outs, and I got curios about the Chi-Fi amps and tried the Fosi Audio TB10D ($80 on amazon) and it still sound really great! Also, I use a subwoofer at home and in the office, so keep that in mind. A sub is needed to fill out/up the bottom end.

    Serious question here and please take no offense. I had spent about a year watching Audio reviewers and as of Feb, made all my purchasing. Two pair of speakers, amp, sub, TT, cd player and dac. So, with that, is there any point to keep watching reviewers? I bought in at my price point so then at that point do reviewers lose their relevance?

    There is no real point in measuring frequency response with a 10 dB vertical scale. Everything looks much smoother and flatter than it should. This pretends to be information but it is not revealing anything useful.
