You're so right about nature being fast to reclaim old railway land. It's interesting to see the clues along the way that tell the story of the location's past. For much of this, if you didn't know there was once a railway you would be forgiven for thinking it was just a well-trodden path. Nice video. The viaducts are incredible... Great pieces of engineering.

A lovely video but it's always sad to see how this main line has ended up. Someone proudly built those beautiful bridges not realising how one day they would end up. This lovely walk along the old track bed makes me wonder what it looked like before they built the line. A few relaxing minutes, many thanks Middy.
Thanks for watching and like you I find these walks are always tinged with sadness I I think of the hours and hours the men of the day toiled to build these things and we just simply closed them to save a few lousy quid which we wasted elsewhere.

That's a lovely section to walk, both of those bridges are something else, they really are. It's a shame that all infrastructure is gone, it would be nice to come across the odd signal post!!!!

Thank you for watching. I love this walk and it's nice and easy for a change. Damage is inevitable as time marches on and the crossing bridge has aged in the last two years. I just try and enjoy them whilst I still can!
Relaxing indeed. I find it odd that both routes were closed. I Remember the revival plans at turn of century, got as far as second reading I believe. We would have had a working freight route by now, said that the rejection of plans after so much work killed the chap off. I never understood, I guess the Department of Transport and MP;s had better offers if you get my meaning?

Great walk especially now the natural growth has started to die back . The proximity of the M1 has now ironically been this part of the GCR's savior, in that nothing will be built on it due to its extremely close proximity .
Thanks for watching. According to our misinformed local Tory MP we could have trains running back on there in 'weeks'! Misinformed as always but was a local vote winner in the past election!!! A beautiful walk and like you say ironically safe due to being so close to the road that killed it.
