Can you imagine the thoughts and feelings going through the group Led Zeppelin as they listened to this great performance by Heart, the orchestra and chorus. The best tribute video I ever saw and probably the best ever. A lot of raw emotion there. RIP JOHN BONHAM but his son filled in admirably.

That was not "Heart's guitarist". That was Michael Barakan - better known as "Shayne Fontaine". He is a true star in his own right. The original Heart guitarist was Roger Fisher who was and is an incredible guitarist and founding member of the band Heart long before Ann and Nancy showed up.
I saw that said Robert never knew Jason was going to be playing and be on his dads drums at that. Robert and John were best friends .The hats everyone had on were a tribute to John I think Robert was wishing his friend was mainly
Yep, all true. Jason was actually one of the first they asked to be in the tribute, and he was the one who wanted Ann to sing it. In an interview he said they initially had someone else in mind, and he demanded they get someone who knows, understands, and loves Zeppelin. As far as powerhouse singers go that narrowed it down to Ann and a handful of others, and it made since to have Ann and Nancy there given their well-known love of Zeppelin.
The 2012 Kennedy Center Honors celebrated Dustin Hoffman, Natalia Makarova (ballerina & choreographer), David Letterman, Buddy Guy, and Led Zeppelin. The whole show is definitely worth watching.

Thanks Dudes! I've seen this a few times before, but always nice to watch it again. I love watching the Led Zep guys watching the live band, and in this instance, I get the added bonus of watching you two watching it all. Fantastic! And that little double neck guitar mini looks amazing too! Thanks Brad! 😎
Every year the Kennedy Center 'honors' a few different people, and Zeppelin was one of them that year (all of the people with the rainbow ribbons around their neck were honored). Heart was the last of 4 tribute bands to sing a Zeppelin song. The 'Bolo Hat' was the late John Bonham's signature look that his son Jason and the rest of the choir honored John with.
Ann is a great singer. If you want to hear what might be her best live vocal performance every check youtube for Heart's performance of Unchained Melody (not necessarily as a reaction video, but just to hear how incredible she sounds). It was recorded around 1980 I believe and it's incredible.
As Ann Wilson is singing the last line of the song they cut to the drummer (Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham) as he gives a little glance skyward just as Ann gets to the final heaven". Tugs at my heartstrings every time. The symbol on the bass drum head is the symbol John chose to represent him on "the untitled fourth album".
Thanks guys, great reaction. Agree, my favorite version, They found this emotional because of John Bonham’s son Jason on drums. Jason currently plays with Sammy Hagar’s group The Circle, Heart loves Zeppelin, played Rock and Roll when I saw them in high school.
That was a very welcome interlude I have not seen before. I thought they nailed it without trying to do their own interpretation, so I think Robert Plant and Jimmy Page just really appreciated the fact Heart did it right, that's a real tribute. Really loved the minature guitar, as someone who used to make scale models in my wonder years I love the whole idea. It could be the start of a collection now - I know Jamel has a few framed and hung on the walls of his room and they look really good up there.
I love this performance. Seen it many times. Not sure if you’re aware that performing on drums is the late John Bonham’s son, Jason. Thanks for reacting to this guys. Peace and love from Toronto!
Well I had a feeling this was going to be a good performance, and it was superb. Didn't know the remaining band members would be watching though. Seeing their reactions was priceless. If you guys want to hear Heart perform another amazing Led Zeppelin song, find their version of Kashmir live. They toured with Jason Bonham son of original Zeppelin drummer John Bonham after the Kennedy Centre Honours show. No one but Ann Wilson of Heart should be allowed to cover Zeppelin songs. She just killed it, she is like a female Robert Plant. Watch it, you won’t regret it.
You are correct. The Kennedy Center Honors are held each year and taped to usually be shown in December. Sitting Presidents (Donald Trump chose not to appear at any of these awards shows while he was in the White House) usually will be in attendance as well as other dignitaries and celebrities and of course, the honorees.
Heart killed this. Amazing cover. BTW what is your problem with Robert Plant? He is one of the top lead singers in rock history. Supremely talented. Zeppelin would not be the greatest band of all time without him.
Yeah my father loves Zeppelins music but I guess Plants voice doesn’t appeal to him haha. My father was never a fan of the high voices. I am though!! -S
I think my life would be much poorer if Robert Plant hadn't sang "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" or "The Rain Song". Hell, all of it. I even have a CD of Pictures at Eleven, his first solo project, which I listened to and was once again mesmerized by just last week We all have our own tastes but, sheeeeeesh! My recommendation to you is, listen to everything Zeppelin ever did one more time. Give em another chance. Somebody else sing "Hangman"? Unthinkable.
Well, if Zeppelin had a full orchestra and choir, I bet they could do it even better, I don’t know how if you watch the MSG1973 live performance. 4 guys makings it sound like much much more.
Thinking about how good Ann Wilson is maybe you could do a poll of great female singers? Ones that spring to mind - showing my age! - are Janis Joplin,Grace Slick,Stevie Nicks,Christine McVie,Marianne Faithful,Pat Benatar,Ellen Foley,Tracy Chapman,Debbie Harry or Bonnie Tyler.
@@fatherandsonreactions That's great, thanks Ethan. There are so many great female singers out there that get overlooked. It's not really Heart doing it. It's only Ann and Nancy from Heart, not the whole band. When this was initially done it was branded "Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart" and at some point it got turned into being a Heart production. The Kennedy Center put it together and asked Ann and Nancy to participate. The drummer was Jason Bonham, son of Zeppelin's deceased drummer John Bonham. I guess to the point, Ann Wilson is an incredible singer, and I know people who have never given Heart the time of day who went out and bought most of their catalog after seeing her performance here. It really is done well, but it isn't the Heart band and it wasn't created or produced by Heart. The Kennedy Center wanted to find a killer vocalist and Jason Bonham demanded they get someone who loves and appreciates Led Zeppelin so the obvious answer was Ann and Nancy.
Find Heart’s “Mistral Wind”, their own personal Stairway to Heaven. Ann Wilson cut her teeth on Led Zep, Aretha Franklin, protest songs of the 60s. She won’t sing it, if she can’t make the emotion shine to surface.

The Kennedy Center Honors is a cultural awards ceremony for many artistic disciplines.
Brad sure knows how to send a gift!
definitely!! -Ethan
well...that was incredible
Heart used to perform Zepplin songs when they toured. Anne was in mid 50s when she sang this. Wow!
Thanks Mark! Always great reading your comments. Stay safe & take care! -S
I had the same thought regarding Robert Plant's reaction. I'd love to know each of their reactions in that moment. Phenomenal performance!!
Ann and Nancy met the boys (Led Zeppelin) at a concert in Canada many, many years ago. They've been friends ever since.
Yeah you’re right! RP and JP must’ve been feeling very honored that night. Yeah the guitar is awesome! -S
Loved that Lary&Ethan great version of that great song
No one can match Ann's voice! No one.
The singer's name is Nancy Wilson, not Heart. And she is recognized as one of the greatest Female Rock Lead Singers in history....DAD.
Yeah, I know who Nancy Wilson is and I know it was her but I messed up haha. -S
@@fatherandsonreactions No worries. PS I really enjoy your channel! Cheers! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
Thank you Cheri! 👍 -S
Singer is big sis Ann, Nancy backs and plays guitar, fiercely I might add, one of the greatest female of all!!
But Ann's voice...legendary!! ❤❤
@@wen-nz3sk Thx...I knew that, just had a brain fart. I've seen HEART 4 times and have all their albums.
Cheers! 🍒🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
Tremendous performance..keep in mind Ann Wilson was 62yrs at this time...
I love this performance. Seen it many times. Not sure if you’re aware that performing on drums is the late John Bonham’s son, Jason. Thanks for reacting to this guys. Peace and love from Toronto!
Yeah that’s cool! Glad you enjoyed! Hope you’re doing well Jim! -S
Well I had a feeling this was going to be a good performance, and it was superb. Didn't know the remaining band members would be watching though. Seeing their reactions was priceless. They were really impressed. Also loved that little twin neck guitar someone sent you. What a fabulous gift. Anyway, great reaction vid guys. See you for more later. james:)
Glad you enjoyed James. The bands reactions were definitely priceless! And you are definitely right, the mini guitar was very cool. 🤘 -S
This performance gives me chills. Your reaction is topped only by the reaction of the surviving members of Zep themselves.
Aww thank you so much 👍 -S
What an awesome cover .. absolute Goat!! Plant really was emotionally moved esp once he noticed Jason Bonham playing his Dad's drums here .. best tribute ever! Plus the choir & Jason all wore black bowler hats in honor of the late John Bonham. Page was ecstatic .. Plant, Page & Jones were full of smiles. Afterwards they went back stage, found "Heart" & told them what a beautiful job they did. I think that speaks volumes!
So glad u guys reacted to this very special cover. Great job! Wow amazing gifts from Brad too .. too Cool 👍🏼 Stay safe & well .. luv u guys .. peace💞✌🏼🤘🏼
Agree, agree, and agree!! 💯%!
Glad you enjoyed the reaction! Take care & stay safe Ramona! -S
@@fatherandsonreactions Many thanks. Have an awesome day ✌🏼🤘🏼
You too 👍 -S
Love this vid. Nobody does Zep like Heart.
Ann Wilson is the female version of Robert Plant! You should fo more HEART!
"I want to see how she sings this" It's Ann Wilson. It's gonna be perfect. :) I saw this as it happened on tv, outstanding. Also, Jon Bonham's son on drums.
Hola guys, sorry I have been away so long, been a rough month so far but slowly getting better. Great to see y'all are still rocking out to some great tunes, y'all are awesome. Keep up the great work. Be back soon, much love&respect as always ^!^
Hey Ron! We’ve missed you. We hope you are getting better. I sent you an email around a week ago. Glad to hear you are doing better! 💛🔥 -S
Ok, one more thing....Robert Plant has made comments about how he doesn’t like it when people cover this song......until that night!
You need to watch whole Kennedy Center honoring LED Zeppelin!
Awesome
More Nightwish with Tarja, please!! Amazed with her voice, what a vocal! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Perfect shirt, nice gift yet we haven’t seen any Rush in a while.... let’s go!
GREAT RUSH SHIRT!
I enjoyed this! I agree with Dad, I am not a huge Robert Plant fan, he’s just ok, and I think Heart did this song better than LZ!
Brad is awesome.
He sure is!! -S
We will definitely get back to them soon! -S
So, you're the guy who suggested Frank Sinatra replace Robert Plant.
Oh Dad...you don't EVER mess with THE rock God if all time. 🤨
I'd say the guitar player was having a nervous Brea down don't choke please for the love of God don't choke lmao
I think my life would be much poorer if Robert Plant hadn't sang "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" or "The Rain Song". Hell, all of it.
I even have a CD of Pictures at Eleven, his first solo project, which I listened to and was once again mesmerized by just last week
We all have our own tastes but, sheeeeeesh!
My recommendation to you is, listen to everything Zeppelin ever did one more time. Give em another chance.
Somebody else sing "Hangman"? Unthinkable.
Agree!!!... With EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Jason Bonham on the drums.John's son and Robert Plant's God son.
Check out the whole
Led Zeppelin tribute for the Kennedy Center Honors 👍🏻👍🏻
Well, if Zeppelin had a full orchestra and choir, I bet they could do it even better, I don’t know how if you watch the MSG1973 live performance. 4 guys makings it sound like much much more.
Thinking about how good Ann Wilson is maybe you could do a poll of great female singers?
Ones that spring to mind - showing my age! - are Janis Joplin,Grace Slick,Stevie Nicks,Christine McVie,Marianne Faithful,Pat Benatar,Ellen Foley,Tracy Chapman,Debbie Harry or Bonnie Tyler.
Great idea! I could totally see that as a poll! Maybe next week 😁 Thanks Steve! -S
@@fatherandsonreactions That's great, thanks Ethan. There are so many great female singers out there that get overlooked. Here are a few suggestions that I know of and think you and your dad will like and appreciate!🤘😃
Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee & Piece of My Heart
Grace Slick - Somebody to love & El Diablo
Stevie Nicks - Stop Draggin' My Heart Around & Edge Of Seventeen
Ellen Foley - Paradise by the Dashboard Light(with Meatloaf) & We Belong To The Night
Bonnie Tyler - Faster Than the Speed of Night & Total Eclipse of the Heart
Thanks Steve! I’ll be sure to pick from this list when making the poll for next week 👍 -S
@@fatherandsonreactions Aw! That's great, thanks.I'm betting your dad knows some of them even if he's not sure at the moment!
I think Robert realized this song was really great done by a women just a though/ by the the right women
Great reaction! You guys need to react to some BOWIE :-)
Thanks! Definitely will 👍 -S
