Wonderful video series! Really appreciated! I didn't know about the fat channel linking function and I said to myself "consider my mind blown!" about 5 seconds before you said it blew your mind in the video. It really is the exact way I hoped this mixer/DAW integration would work! The combination of the StudioLive series 3 mixers with Studio One 4 is something I can't ever see moving away from. For a home studio (or larger studio, I'm sure) it is absolutely phenomenal.
Really enjoying the new StudioLive 32 S , Just added these new plugs, looking fwd to lotsa time with Studio One in this Apocaliptic Crisis, great set of videos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jono 🎸👍
Question: If you have say a very dynamic performance (let's say a vocalist) and the compression you add is controlling peaks (as not to clip during the loud sections while recording), so if the compressor is not actually being recorded, would you not run the risk that the performance could have clipping/distortion in areas because there was no compressor holding back those peaks. Now once recorded w/clipping it will not be fixable. Or does the Desk alert you and/or limit those peaks to prevent ruining the track. Well done video series by the way. Thanks. Phil
I have watched all four of your first 4 videos and I cannot find where you show how to route the DAW recording, like the piano track you recorded, back to the headphone outputs for the guitar player to hear when he's playing his acoustic. Please explain...
Excellent explanation of this symbiotic relationship between the physical console and the DAW. We use the Presonus AR22, however, so guess I’m stuck with tweaking manually on the console and DAW separately. Oh well. Good to know for future console upgrade possibility. Thanks again for the info. Still very useful information
Thank You. This video has help me greatly. I have recently set up a 32s with 2, 16 channel stage boxes in our studio. I have not set up the wi fi yet. I am also confused a bit by the AVB network routing. When you set up your user input channels how did you route them so that when you hit the network select on the UC surface control they routed correctly??
Hey Pete, the desk is connected by USB to the computer so all I was doing was changing the input source of the channel - once I selected network as the input in UC Surface (which is exactly the same as selecting the network input on the desk itself) there wasn't anything else needed to be done to use the channel as an input within Studio One. Have you checked out the earlier videos in the series? Video 2 especially shows the other end of the recording setup but do have a look at all of them if you haven't already.
How do you get the Mixer to duplicate the effects on the board I just get the Inserts and Send page. It wont bring up the effects on screen on the StudioLive 32?
@@cameronwarrenmusic yes you have to switch out of DAW mode in order for this to work I am not a fan of that but it does work. Also you can keep UC Control on the iPad and do it from there and use your finger
Mat fantastic series of videos. I have a 32s and a fixed studio. I mainly use synths and guitars + some drum machines. I never move things around and I have a lot more instruments than inputs. In one of your videos you used an NSB16.8 could you please do a video about using it in your studio as I have been saving for the 32.16 so can have everything connected and call them up to record as I need them. This would be fantastic if you could do such a video. Everything using the NSB stage box is from the live prospective and not the studio.
It is a great work flow. But it falls apart when you switch to DAW mode. It becomes a completly different work flow. Suddenly the controls on the console are laid out a different way. Why would they do that?
How do you avoid the issue where if you have these linked, and you open an old s1 track is replaces all your current onboard settings. Happened to me and what a nightmare. Havent found a good way around it. It should prompt you and ask before it changes everything on your UC/mixer but it doesnt.
the different compressors and eq's are only going to work on your console if you purchased the Fat Channel plugin suite for the console. If you purchased the Fat Channel plugin suite for Studio One it will only work in Studio One.
Are you only able to do this with the studioLive? I have the 192 mobile and purchased the FAT Channel Bundle but don't see how I can choose vintage compressors or eqs?
hi, can anyone tell my why my tracks do not look like his tracks? i cant figure out how to have the fat channel abover the insert and much less figure out the fat channel syncing, all routing is done, uc net is working, and daw mode works just fine, i just cant get the fat channel to mirror from the daw to the console. thanks.
lol i am answering my own question, self taught. all i did was re download the same current software update version and it started working. awesome workflow doing it like this, the better your live performance sounds, the better the quality and results from the singer/musician for the recording. I wish i could give a technical reason how re downloading the current update even thought i had the current version already installed but i am just glad it works now.
Matt can you explain how to access this way of bringing in the audio recorded...NOT in DAW, seem we can MIX using full use of Touch screen in this way...saw 3 videos so far on this topic, seem pretty vague...you would be the chap who could show this set up, no one else has so far. Thanks here is one of the videos : ruclips.net/video/ARZqDT8igcg/видео.html

Nice job. Thank you.
Great tutorial. But how this translates within Pro Tools? I've several things but I still cannot record the 24 rack processing...

Great but I heard reverb did you say anything about the reverb Am hearing

I don’t get it. So does it record the eq and compression added or that is just for monitoring?
Do these Fat Chanel link up with Daw mode, does it have to be set up in the UCnet also?
