Totally agree with buy less but buy quality. I judge expense on price per wear. Spending £100 on an item that will be worn a hundred times is more cost effective than buying an item for £10 that's only worn once or twice. Fast fashion is not cheap by any metric. Unfortunately I can't sew either but I have engaged the services of a seamstress on occasion to ensure a perfect fit

Great tips! In the US tailoring an item a place that does dry cleaning and some repairs is really affordable and can take pieces to the next level. I tailored a blazer and a pair of pants that way each for about $20 and it completely transformed the pieces and made me wear them often and look polished.

I agree with buying quality staple outerwear pieces but I think an oversize blazer and a trenchcoat work specifically for your body type. I had to learn the hard way that at 150cm and curvy, oversized and masculine doesn't work for me. I invested in a second hand fitted moto jacket and some quality wool cardigans instead.

I feel like sunglasses make a huge difference. I recently purchased a pre-owned Ray Ban Wayfarer which was not worn once for a really good price and this classic makes every outfit just look cool and elevated.

Yes to the style diary 😊 Also I love having a smaller curated wardrobe with pieces I love. I don't have a big budget but don't mind spending a little more on pieces I will wear all the time. And even just putting on my daily jewelry makes me feel fantastic in the most simple of outfits.

Yes! You are so right about the sewing machine! I have a really old Bernina (from 1974!) I looove to buy vintage clothes and make small adjustments, so it fits me perfectly. Sometimes I also just by fabric and sew a t-shirt, a dress or whatever i need. That has not only saved me a lot of money but more important it has made it easer for me to build my dream wardrobe. I only know the basic tricks on sewing (my neighbour - who was 60 years old at the time - taught me how to use the machine by the way), but you can do so much by only using the basics. So to make it short: My advice would be to buy an old machine - like very old - with very simple functions.

I went hard and bought two pairs of agolde jeans (one light denim one dark grey) both in the same cut two years ago and have worn them over and over. I feel best when my clothes are really high quality and durable but also expressive. I've recently gotten more into hair and make-up and have noticed it makes a big difference. Great tips!!

Love this video ❤as a university student who loves fashion but is on a budget, I Started thrifting in Italians weekly markets in my city, and I can say with some patience you can find great pieces and vintage for really cheap... Yesterday I got a pair of burgundy jeans because I want to try the red trend, their vintage and they still had the Tag on: 5 euro.. ❤😂 Go thrift guys! And shop more with counsciousness

Many sewing machine shops sell used ones at very fair prices- definitely get the store to demo. You can do a lot of basic tailoring with a basic machine. Lots of great tutorials right here on RUclips. Vintage is a lot more exciting when you can do your own alterations or even restyle a piece. Many thrift stores also sell random fabrics, sometimes really lux ones!

Every aspect of this advice is wonderful, thank you. I recently did a clear out and ‘shopped my own wardrobe’ , found a wonderful comfy blazer I had forgotten about for years and never tried wearing casually, threw it over my jeans and boots, layered a statement necklace over my shirt (a vintage bronze Thors hammer my Morfar owned) and wore the blazer and everyone I saw that day complimented me! I ordered a quality trench coat on a discount this week too. Feeling proud that I somehow stumbled in the right direction, and I so appreciate the other tips and tricks you’ve included. Love the video you’ve created.

Fantastic advice. And yes, if we are serious about sustainability - fiscally, environmentally, and ethically, we do need to do more with less. In every aspect of our lives. I’ve gotten my clothing habit pretty well under control at this point, but occasionally, usually when the seasons change, I will feel the urge for novelty. Slowing myself down and really assessing what it is I want vs what I already have and what I know I wear daily is still something I have to be consciously disciplined about. Even when I’m planning on getting the pieces second hand. I can only wear so many clothes and I have a specific amount of space designated for my clothing. If I find I’m squeezing items into my dresser for example, I know I have to check myself and give what I have a think before I go adding anything else. Using Pinterest is a two edged sword for me. It gives me inspiration to style what I have differently, but it can also activate that lust for novelty. It’s a constant process of holding myself accountable and being thoughtful and considerate about each item I bring into my wardrobe. I’ve never thought to look for jewelry second hand. I don’t know WHY that escaped me …. It’s one of those places where I haven’t given much thought towards sustainability. I don’t buy nor wear a lot of jewellery, but I do have an awful lot of old junk pieces lying around because I’ve … well …. not given that aspect of my wardrobe much thought before. You inspired me to tackle that and spend some time and energy into considering what pieces I actually wear vs those collecting dust and think towards finding some pre loved good quality pieces. 😊

It goes with everything in my wardrobe, to jeans/T-shirt to my cottagevibes linens dresses , it’s my signature piece , always have compliments on it ❤. I love a good silky square scarf, it so versatile! You can use it as a headband, around your neck , belt with a jeans looks really good and so on…ect. The best size in my opinion is 90x90 cm and with minimal design or a bold colour ( have a red one that goes so well with dark denim and a white T-shirt).

Perhaps it Sounds silly but…Nike runner style shorts. I’ve had some for 7 years and they have been super versatile as pjs, workouts, casual, or days when tummy hurts and needs pants that don’t pinch. When days here get to be 90+ degrees F you need stuff that wicks away sweat and moves easy. ❤

Thanks for lovely tips, Jenny! A tip from me to not-so-minimalists: buy a patterned piece with calm background colour (esp. black) and a pattern which has all or most colours of your wardrobe! I bought recently a shirt by a cool Polish brand - Medicine, from collab with Olaf Hajek. I can style it with orange, cobalt, lime and more, and even match them together in one silhouette - the pattern brings all the colours together in harmony 😊

For confidence, fake it till you make it. I was so insecure, then started telling myself every time I saw me in the mirror that I look beautiful. Felt silly at first, but took about 5ish months to let this sink in and now I see the positives even though I have not changed in physique or appearence.
