  • I hope that this video helps you to find new things to use to help your anxiety. Everyone's anxiety and panic attacks are different and, in turn, everyone handles them differently. Please remember that these are things that work for me that were recommended by my doctor, each is available to everyone.
    I'm so proud of myself that I've been able to control my anxiety recently without using any of these tools. I haven't had a panic attack in probably a year and I'm learning to handle anxious situations. Each day is a new step forward, doing things I thought I would never be able to do without my anxiety being the reason I had to leave.

      could be a panic induced asthma attack. i have asthma and crying is one of the main causes for it

      Yea I do it for panic attacks too and so that I don’t self harm but a kid in my class started throwing a fit about it (even though it wasn’t their arm) and they told my teacher and I got in trouble:(

      loveabbygrace I’m journaling rn. Try it! Every night I do it and reflect on only the positives of my day and then write how things made me feel. It sound so dumb but it’s worth it

      I usually start writing to do lists. I'll most likely never do the things I plan out, but it calms me down so much when I feel like I'm about to freak out. I also write down "routines" or whatever...
      I've never had an actual panic attack, but I get sooo anxious and I feel like I'm about to cry and my hands get all sweaty and shaky and I can't even say a word anymore...
      Idk it scares me sometimes. And no one really notices.

    I just want to express how much the video means to me. I have been dealing with diagnosed generalized anxiety for as long as I can remember. It has stopped me from doing so much, and living life to its fullest. I have experienced numerous panic attacks, and tried many breathing methods and other techniques.
    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I do sometimes feel that my throat is closing in, and keeping notes to myself should help me. I will try out these methods for sure.
    My panic attacks are usually triggered by hyperventilation syndrome, where I over-breath to the point where my hands and face are numb. What is happening is that I feel that I am not getting enough oxygen, so I hyperventilate, leading to a panic attack where I cannot control my breathing and enter the flight or fight mode. I would love if you have an ideas for dealing with this, or if you have any knowledge about hyperventilation syndrome.
    Again, thank you so much for opening up about your anxiety and being so brave! You are such an inspiration. Thank you for taking the time to share what helps you with anxiety!

    Trident is actually a sugar free gum, meaning it has aspartame. Apartame can actually trigger anxiety. Just a thing i learned not to long ago and thought for those who's anxiety could possibly be more sensitive, that sugar free products might not be the best choice.
    Edit: I'm not trying to shame anyone, its just something i thought someone could benefit by knowing

      Most dont because aspartame is actually a sweetener that is supposed to replace sugar. So i think any type that is not sugar free is fine for the most part. The nutrition label should say if it does have or not though.

    This inspired me to make my own Anxiety Kit for high school! The items are around the same idea as this video.
    I have a lavender scented rub-on oil that you put on like a perfume. It's the same idea as the essential oil but it's a bit easier for me to put on at my desk.
    I put in some mint gum since chewing on gum distracts and calms me, and if I'm in a very strict teacher's class where they don't permit gum, I also have mints that has the generally same effect. I also have some lollipops because candies relax me in a strange way.
    I have a small notebook and a few colorful pens to write and calm down. Looking at colors makes me feel happy so that helps.
    I also have my inhaler in there because I have asthma that reacts when I have an anxiety attack.
    I usually have my ear buds on me at all time so that isn't in there much but I do have some hair clips and alastics to put my hair back if I need to calm down.
    I also have a very small plushie keychain kind of thing that I like to look at and just sort of hug. It sounds weird but... it helps.

      Me too. I suck on suckers and now get cubs suckers so that really helps. I didn't know other ppl used sweets to calm them also.

    When my social anxiety is “attacking” me I get a certain cough that I can’t help.

      Caitt that happens to me sometimes as well. It depends on the situation. Meeting new people I get like heavy breathing, so if I know people and we are having a party or whatever I get the cough.

    I love the fact you didn’t stereotype these kinds of things, because I myself have anxiety and a lot of people at my school told me “WhY dOnT yOu HaVe FiDgEtS” of course each mind works differently. I love stuffed animals I usually take at least one with me at school.

    This is awesome. I have like a anxiety box. I have been thinking of making a anxiety kit like yours since it’s smaller and easier to carry around. I have been diagnosed with anxiety since I was in elementary and I go to a councilor. It makes me feel better to know other people have it to and I’m not alone. anyway thank you so much for making this video!

    2:52 I've been doing the same-exact-thing, since like, may! Oh my god! Thought I've been having panic attacks since last year, my new therapist only realized that's what was going on with me a couple weeks ago, so I find it really funny that I've tried many of this things by myself, before my diagnosis (is that how you write it? Diagnosis? I don't know, it just sounds right)
    PS: I am not a native English speaker. I also don't think I made any mistake, but if I did I am really sorry :p

    yay I was the first thumbs up lol i love your video I have panic attacks and they where very bad where i would grab my wrist and sit on the floor and rock even in stores could i felt like i was dying i am on lots of meds just for mental illness and i would love to learn things so i wouldnt need to be on them so much and i never thought of this before I am going to put one together thank you for sharing this was great

      well I think that sharing sometimes is great to do I have a blog on facebook anyone can read what i put on there its called "A day in my life with mental illness" it is just how I am feeling and things like that I do it for myself mainly but if it help others then that is great it is also is good if you dont like talk face to face with people having an online blog and it being open to whoever is good cause then its like your talking to people but dont have to let them see you i find it helps me i can go back and look at what i was feeling and see what helped but keep up the good work on your videos cause there really isnt much out there

    Am I the only person who freaks out more/has even more anxiety when listening to music with earbuds/headphones. I hate it cause I really like listening to music, but whenever I do it in public I feel like I cannot breath.

    I remember making "Girl survival kits," they had dumb stuff like a tiny hair comb and lipstick when I honestly never needed to comb my hair on the go and I don't wear makeup. I just liked getting helpful things and fitting them into makeup bags. I don't have any anxiety disorders or something, but I would say I get anxious, like, panic attacks in big groups and crying that I'm not good enough when I get less than an A on a test, and I think something like this might help me a lot. 🙃

    Hi, have been through a lot these past two years(btw Im fifteen about to turn sixteen in a couple of months). I have been having family and school related issues. I have been stressed and haven’t been able to sleep. At night I feel like I can’t breathe and I start to cry. My parents have recently split up and it has made harder on me. I always worry, but it’s not just about big issues it can be over simple things too. People tell me I overthink a lot and have noticed a negative changed in me. Sometimes my throat tightens when I get to situation where I don’t what to do. I thought maybe it was temporary since I had never experienced anything so terrifying in my life. But even when things got better in my life I still cry and feel like I can’t breathe at night. I don’t get any sleep even though I want too and I keep worrying way too much. Even when my mom tells me that everything is ok I still have this terrifying sense of fear that I’m going to lose everything I love. When I go out in public I feel so insecure about my body and how I act. I’m so awkward and can’t even make eye contact. Everyday I feel this knot in my chest and when I think about it my throat tightens. My body aches a lot more now too. I’m always sore and I’m always tense mostly my muscles. When I get stressed it gets hard to breathe and I get dizzy. I’m scared to go to the doctor because I feel like I won’t have anything and my mom will think I’m just wanting attention. However, I just feel I can’t stand any longer with these horrible feelings. I don’t know what to do and now all this anxiety is affecting my school. Now that I really think about I think I have always been like this my whole life, but I have now just realized it. As I kid I was always awkward and struggles talking to people. I always was worried about how I looked and how I acted. I have always worried about people judging me. I don’t really remember a time where I wasn’t anxious or worried.
    I really don’t know what to do.

    For me,mints or hard candy helps my anxiety a bit. I discovered Wilhelmina mints at Trader Joe's and they are my favorite.
    I also found sour jolly ranchers help me a lot; they make me feel more focused. We all have something that helps us!

    This is great, but just a note sharpies are NOT intended for skin and are toxic. I would find some non-toxic "tattoo pens" or something along those lines!

    This is actually a really good review and never really seen it before, ur super interesting too 💕💕💕 edit: a better thing to write on your arms with is a jelly roll pen because there a bit better and have more colors along with safer skin reactions

    I have celiac and anxiety I also use biofreeze or icy hot to calm me down! It works

    this video helps me a lot. i have horrible generalized anxiety and social anxiety along with depression and ptsd along with other mental disorders. this video helped me because I normally have the shittiest coping mechanisms but this video helped me find more better ones.

    How do you get diagnosed with anxiety? My mom knows it and my doctor knows I’m not myself but now I need to go to a psychiatrist but I’m scared they will not do anything....

    I get so nervous when my teacher is taking the class register cause I’m afraid that people will like laugh if my throat sounds scratchy it’s sometimes hard to calm down I usually just ask to go to the bathroom and then I start breathing heavily feel a little sick and dizzy and I just wish to go home where no one can see or hear me idk if this is normal or not

    i never thought to use those throat candy thingys :0 the worst part about my anxiety is that it makes me have the sensation of crying and if i hold back my tears my throat starts hurting really bad/aching, im so glad i came across this :D

    Omg I write on myself too or on paper 📑 and I like to color ,I have gum,lollipops,cough drops ,ginger candy,altoids. Lavender,and a cup for ice or water . I noticed chewing on ice calms me down .

    When I have a panic attack I watch these types of videos or I snuggle with my mom and sconce I keep everything sad and scary inside without talking to people I have the worst breakdowns and I feel like I can’t breath and I have no fidget toys so I need to get some but you helped me have an idea on what to have during a panic attack :)
    (Edit): I also just start to rock back and forth with no control

    That’s so cool! I unfortunately have a hair pulling disorder and anxiety, going out in public scares me and I never answer calls or call people because I have panic attacks. It’s hard and I would love to try this.

    Okay I’m 11 and I think I have anxiety bc I searched up the symptoms and I have like all.. but I don’t know how to ask my mom that I want to take an actual test... also any fidget toys do you recommend?

      Hi Mia! I was diagnosed by my primary care doctor, and found a therapist after to help me manage my anxiety more than I was on my own. You can ask your mom if you can go talk to your doctor about how you’re feeling, I’m sure she will want to help make you feel better and less anxious! I don’t use fidget toys but I have friends who love fidget cubes! I hope that helps & thank you so much for your comment!

    I'm buying fidgets from eBay for my social anxiety because I get sore throats and I cry an I can't breathe properly when I'm in big crowds. Even when the teacher calls in me I forget how to speak an I go all sweaty and I g et a sore throat

    I have not diagnosed yet but going through the process of being diagnosed with autism or Aspergers but I have really bad anxiety I haven’t had a panic attack yet but it getting to the point where I think I may have one yeah and I’m making a anxiety kit to mine contains of many fidget items for I fiddle with my hands and crunch up my legs to the point where they are stuck in that position I am so proud of this network we have I am ten now it has been taking a while to get diagnosed but luckily I have a good support group and ye I also struggle with and sleep due to the anxiety 😥 so I’m awfully tired usually my anxiety caused by no sleep is thinking about what will happen the next day but I’m terrible in public situations none of my friends really understand (I don’t expect them to) I learnt the word anxiety Autism and mental health from a very young age let’s all unite to save our souls in my anxiety kit I also have quotes and things that I have wrote like you do on your arms anyway enough of me nattering .

    Everyone I just wanna say that it is normal to get anxiety it just depends on how often you get it if you are worried with your anxiety just speak with your doctor and it’s alway good to take deep breaths I do them every time I get anxiety

    I focus on having some thing for each sense and some thing to distract me. I have a little pack that I can put in my pocket and quickly take out when I need to.

    if you need something in your mouth if you bite your lips or anything they have chewerly necklaces and you can chew on it. they have so many different ones too!

    Hey Caitt, I might be wrong, but maybe use another pen for drawing on yourself? Sharpie is kinda permanent, I don't know if it happens to you, but whenever I draw on myself with sharpie it doesn't come off easily. Just an idea, no hate or shade whatsoever.     i’ve never been diagnosed by my nurse mother says it’s really likely i have it. there was a black out today and i had a full on panic attack and idk why. i’ve never been scared of the dark. i get panic attacks over the smallest words and i can’t breather during them. i need to make homemade anxiety toys because my mom won’t buy any

    When I have an anxiety attack I don't just count to 10 or 20 or whatever number you like counting to, I give the numbers genders along the way. Or I count the alphabet, but give them names. It really gives me something to consentrate on, but it also is something funny or ridiculous, so not only does it grab my attention, but I find the idea of 5 being a girl kind of funny and it helps when I start to break down.

    I need cough drops too because my throat closes as well. I deal with my heart racing usually at night. I had heart tests and the doctors can't find anything. They just say anxiety.

    i love this video so much because i dont think i have anxiety but i panic a lot and stress and my big sis said that she has anxiety and my friend uses oils but i know if i used them and she saw she would say i want attention it really sucks when i panic i feel like everyone is staring at me while im panicing and when i stress i feel like im doing everything wrong and sometimes at school when i panic or stress it goes down to a mental break down but i will try to make a kit like yours i dont have anxiety so i will prob call it stress kit but thanks for making this video it helped a lot i stress and panic a lot wih home problums and school so thank you IM SUBSCRIBING :)

    Normally I can control my anxiety but sometimes I have major panic attacks in any pressured situation like 8m not good enough because my parents have a lot of expectations.So I start crying randomly and hyperventilating.So yea this really helps me know what I need to help me thanks :)

    💖Thank you for making this💖 i just want to say how much this achuly means to me it might be dumb to get so much pride in this video but I do.
    I deal with anxiety in class at home and sometimes I dont know what to do but this helps beacuse I've wanted a anxiety bag but i never knew what to put in it so it was kinda useless without anthing.

    I know I'm a little late to this video, but anyway aha. Thank you for making this. I have been struggling with panic attacks my whole life although I only recently got diagnosed in the last year and only started therapy and CBT this summer. I really want to make one of these kits, I think it would help with my huge fear of vomiting. I think I'd put some of those paper sick bags in there, travel tablets, those herbal calm drops which look much like your cough drops, and probably paracetamol or something to calm my fear of being in pain in public. I don't know why I'm telling you this aha it's just nice to stress something to someone who understands. Also omg I love your hair I'm thinking about getting my hair shorter like that aha it's so cute ❤️

    omg this video is reminding me of how scared im gonna be in secondery school lol i feel like a baby but im literly gonna have a panic attack walking in the building but thank u sooooooo much for posting it bc i have asthma so basicly everytime i feel nerveus or think im having a panic attack in school i cant breath that well, so that oil will help me.       Hello! I'm so happy this video is helping you prepare for school! One trick that always works for me is putting my hand on my heart and taking a deep breath in and out. I can feel my heart beat slow down which makes me feel much more calm and relaxed. I hope that helps and good luck in secondary school, you'll do amazing!!
