  • Sadly, I have never heard anyone celebrate or even mention these great releases from Digitech. The RP360 and RP360XP represented a really positive move for the time-honored effects company, ditching the toy-town look of previous models for a slicker, more technical format. They're beautifully designed, rock solid, easy to operate and very professional in sound. Great pedals!

    I love this pedal so much, and the effects and amps are so realistic, I might get another one. For anyone reading this though, put a Palmer Pocket amp v2 after it and hook it up to a speaker, I promise it sounds like a real amp. Especially the 77 Master Volume.

      Yep I'm tempted to go back and get another one, I kind of regret selling it.

    I literally just got my RP360XP from out the bottom of the drawer this morning, just for a bit of fun, and was wondering whether anyone was still using it. Lo and behold, some one reviewed it only 3 weeks ago! I tell you what , yours is looking a lot cleaner than mine! Thanks for giving it a whirl. I think the very best take away, and you do intimate this throughout the video, you have to play around with the settings to match your guitar and amp. Occasionally, you just need to wind something back, or even drop it entirely from the chain. Personally, I hate most noise gates on these sorts of units, so you gotta look at each of these on a case by case basis. Last point, coincidentally, you mentioned trying it with a strat, which is what I had out this morning. I had low expectations, but playing with some of the existing patches, tailoring them a tiny bit, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the patches, from good crunch to nice skanky tones with bare minimum overdrive (which personally, I like on a strat). Yes, you will occasionally stumble on a horrible scratchy tone, that's just the way it is. Oh, and my default PU setting is no. 4, so that might help a tiny bit as well (if you like being more on that end of the selector than the other). Thanks for vid! Cheers, Joey

    Man I’ve had the XP since it came out. I use it all the time. For a digital device I’ve always been able to get some really great tones. And it’s built like a tank! I love this thing! If you take the time to tinker with the settings that’s how you really bring it to life in my opinion. And don’t be afraid to create your own custom patches from scratch. Set it up for whatever guitar you’re using.

      Absolutely, I think it’s essential with all multi-effects systems that you take the time to adapt it to your other equipment.

    An overlooked and fantastic bit of kit. I just wish that you could have stacked modulations (ie. chorus + flanger + phaser) at the same time. I eventually ended up getting 2! 😅

      @gearfacts They were acquired by Cortek (Cort) in South Korea this past April, but they also rehired Tom Cram and many other original employees who were let go in 2018. They have already reissued a few pedals, and I am keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for something new/killer in the multi-fx department. I am sure they'll come up with something, hopefully!

      I don't care much for the amp/ovedrive/distortion sounds since I think they sound artificial, but I really like the modulation effects. I keep it mostly for the digital delays , reverb, looper,univibe etc,... I'm about to get a polyphonic synthesiser which will benefit from this pedal. The stereo processing is an appealing option for recording. Anyway, I think it's incredible value at the 80€ I bought it for a few years back and it is mine to keep as a modulation device. I had a univibe pedal to the original Shin ei specs and have a new kit waiting to build, but actually I like the univibe just fine.

    What do you think of its distortions? Do efrects sound thin or opposite? Honestly, when it was released i thought it was a good sounding pedal but for some resson a lot of people didnt like it. Anyway, worth to buy it these days?

      It's hit and miss, some are horrible, but some you can really make work with tweaking. I find in most cases, you have to tame the gain a bit. otherwise, just sounds a bit too scratchy.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  Год назад +1

      I agree with trioguitar's comment, while the general effects section is superb, it's the OD/distortion section that is the weak point. As is always the case with digital effects. For example, I wanted a gitchy fuzz but could only find the more rounded muff fuzz sound.

      Dont buy it . I had it. If you want to enjoy ur playing and need realistic response sensitivity and GOOD distortion sounds, u r much better with a new Chinese pedal like a toy Valeton 100 GP but u can buy a hotone ampero mini or a valeton. U wont regret ot compared to this meh Digitech pedal. Also, look around: are they still on the market?

    I had it, now when u play it and I can hear that digital, undynamic sound it generates - that s why I had to get rid of it. All in all, this pedal was a bummer. Even in its time 10 years ago. Distortions are meh and lack of response time, the flangerish, delayish stuff u start ur video with is one of its weakest effect. I swapped to the Zoom 3Gn and the 2 pedals are Earth and Sky. Sorry, just I remember my nightmares with this pedal on stage and how much easier was to handle the zoom on the fly and get much better sounds out of it. Even you swap to a second hand cheap ampero or valeton 100 you never want this failure to turn on again. Ever.

      I thought it was great. It sounds like you understand the nuances a little better than me though, I'm more about thick layers of overwhelming effects (to hide my mediocre playing!)
