    Greetings from Romania! For a few years I tested multiple .325" chains with my Husqvarna: 20LPX, SP33G, 95TXL and 23RSC. They are designed for different applications: Oregon 20LPX and Stihl 23RSC are for faster cuts in clean hardwoods while Oregon 95TXL (or 95VPX) and Husqvarna SP33G are for dirtier woods but can be used in all situations. I find the Oregons good, they're cheaper and available everywhere. They have the longest teeth and can be sharpened a couple times more than Stihl. Their con is the sharpening angles. Stihl 23RSC is the most expensive, hard to find, it has aggressive angles and therefore it has a lot of vibrations but the steel has the best resistance to wear. The Husqvarna SP33G is cheap, easy to get, less vibrations, holds the edge very well, better than Stihl and is almost as fast Stihl. Bottom line: for me the Husqvarna chain is the best in the woods and at home as well. It all depends on what you need and how you use it. Cheers!

      Great points. One interesting thing that's probably overviewed by alot of people, and based on my experience and what I heard from others confirmed it, is which chains fail/break most often. It seems like the Stihl made chains are harder (cutters last longer), but also better tempered, and its very rare that they break. I've had Oregon chains break constantly, especially on higher CC saws. NEVER with a Stihl chain, and I've used 1/4 on echo 2511, 3/8 lp on homeowner Stihl saws, 3/8 on 500i and .404 on 881, dozens of chains on each. The only ones that broke were Oregons or chinese ones. I now run exclusively Stihl chains and I have no problems, they're all used until the cutters are completely worn from sharpenings.

      I had only two chains broken in my entire life: my very first one, a Husqvarna H30 some decades ago (I was a rookie back then) and a 1/4" Stihl on an Echo 2511 a year or two ago. I was very unhappy with that Stihl type chain performance but in the moment it broke I felt like a confirmation to get rid of them. Then the Sugihara A4 proved better.

      @@ctgabi I personally also liked the skip chains from saegenspezi, I have no idea who makes those but so far its good. I'm also from Ro, Oregon doesn't offer skip chains here as you know, and I run a 881 on a 120-150cmm chainsaw mill. 120 full skip, but at 150 I used to do Stihl 404 with "redneck skip". Grinding every 3rd cutter off. Seems to run great too!

    I run Stihl chains in various lengths, pitches, and gauges. I like the way it files and stretches less than Oregon. However none of them are optimally sharp out of the box, imo.

      I agree with you. I like stihl chains the best but in our area stihl chains are more than 2x the cost. To me they’re no where near 2x as good.

    3 cuts 3 seconds or 1 second per cut, I have never counted the number of cuts per day but I don't see enough difference to matter unless I am doing cookie racing. Put the same chain on a different saw with different torque rpm values and all the numbers may flip.

      That's a good idea. I bet we could do a square grind video too, I know how to flatten out the bottom of the top plate with a flat file. Only thing is, Husvarna X-Cut and Hexa Chain both start out with basically their won versions of a square grind already.

    If you got to push down for it to cut it’s not sharp or your rakers are too high and that can happen right out of the pack , I cut timber daily and I’ve tried ‘em all my friend and the new husky chains are just far superior, it’s like a square grind but with a round gullet man they are unbelievable, that’s just me I’m not trying to be a brand whore , I use what works best for me , great video I enjoyed it, stay safe

    Stihl chains are DEFINITELY the way to go... especially with Stihl saws! Super-fast through big wood (even hard wood!); little or no chain-stretch even after multiple tanks; a JOY to sharpen - especially with the Stihl 2-in-one sharpener - and they STAY SHARP ALL DAY! Yes, everything Stihl is more expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for! Stihl-Kettensägen sind das Beste, was man für Geld kaufen kann! (Stihl chainsaws are the best money can buy!).

    • @easyeddystrees
      @easyeddystrees  Месяц назад

      I agree, Stihl chain is the cat's pajamas. They eat up files faster than other brands, but that's the cost of excellence. You also run into more troubles if you hit rocks or metal with Stihl because the top plate has such hard chrome on it they become almost impossible to sharpen.

    I have seen other videos like this with stihls fancy hexa chain and it not much faster than regular chisel chain, then add the over priced files that you must buy to keep the right shape and its not worth it.
    I use 3/8 chain on all my saws and like stihl or oregon chisel chain the best and its easy to sharpen with a 7/32 file and it cuts fast. I have chipper chain on a few saws and that holds up better if there is any mud on the logs and still cuts almost as fast as chisel.
    the fancy chain isnt worth it to me

    • @easyeddystrees
