Like, he points out to an astrophysicist that the moon is not made of cheese, then asks, "But what if it was made of bbq spare ribs, would you eat it? I know I would; heck I'd have seconds!" That kind of thing.

The entire bit is a reference to a SNL Harry Caray skit (look up Space the Inifite Frontier; it starts about halfway) and in the original, the joke is that it's nonsense. So if you're like me and didn't laugh, it's cuz it's just not our sense of humor, I guess.
