Like others said, DFs aren't at all common in the 4 Blues. Knowledge of them is also limited. Zeff knows because he's old and has sailed the Grand Line before where it's more common to meet a DF user.
Fun fact: Sanji also knows some things about DFs since he's read the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia when he was young. Wether the encyclopedia mentions it or he has just forgotten because it's been many years since he read it, we don't know.
Why have I never heard of this Devil Fruit Encyclopedia and where can I buy one?!
@@tobototoki The Encyclopedia is mentioned and seen later in flashbacks. As far as I know they have not yet published one irl. Hopefully we'll get one after the end of the series.

The fact that we have not seen him again yet doesn't mean much though. OnePiece is still ongoing afterall.

Don't worry about not remembering details, it's a long series. And that's what makes One Piece is so good for re-reading (or rewatching) over and over again. Sometimes I also just notice important tidbits I didn't remember after 2nd read/watch or even more, or gaining better understanding after I understand more context of the story. 😁 How we interpret stories when we young and when we're older is also changing since we experienced more context to with our life.
It is good to rewatch. That's one of the things I like about watching the reactions. I catch things I missed the first time, but new viewers also see things that I missed the first time, and to make interesting connections. Some of them scarily accurate even though they won't know for several hundred chapters.
Plus, it's fun watching somebody discover this story about a goofy rubber pirate, and learning that it's a bit deeper than that.

Gin is just ready to start living life on his own terms. He's not going to blindly follow the Don anymore, but he was still going to stay with his crew. In one piece, crews are often very close like families and ones loyalty to the crew and their captain is an expression of their faith

In the manga (in this arc) we find out that Sanji started smoking when he was around 10 to try and look more grown up. When they made the anime they decided that wasn't a good look and the left that little bit out.

Devil fruits aren't common, plenty of people don't even believe they exist.
They do start to appear more frequently, but it's generally with people who do a lot of traveling and require some sort of strength or power to survive.
In spite of that, they are still rare. Joe Average still does not usually have one unless they just happen onto one.

Gin… he's got some issues. As far as we know, he's still alive, but we haven't seen anything of him since this.
Nami does miss being with the guys, she was having fun. But she has other obligations. You'll see.
Sanji:
His goodbye breaks me every time. I'm good until Zeff says "don't catch cold," and that's it, I'm done.
Damn. Almost made it this time. Got close, then I looked up. 😭
Sanji’s goodbye is so heartfelt and probably one of my favorite moments for a strawhat joining!!
Just a sidenote:
At some point after they built the restaurant, Zeff started calling Sanji "chibi nasu" which literally means "little eggplant". The subtitles though read "little brat" which is more understandable to western audiences.
This may seem trivial but it's actually very important to Sanji's mentality in a much later arc.
Generally, Oda-sensei is extremely fond of puns and cultural references. Too bad most of them get lost in translation 😕

Live action spoils one huge detail. Would be much better after Enies Lobby ends, if at all necessary. Personal opinion, LA holds nothing over the anime. Keep going with this!
We’re still deciding how to handle the LA after the east blue saga but keep ya posted! Also I’m so glad Gin is alive despite all the shit we gave him 😂

Gin was never that appealing to me, so I don’t really care if we never see him again, unless Oda makes him a super badass with a new design, he can stay gone.

Not really, not the information I've seen provided.
Gin doesn't show up again, and there's no mention of him anywhere, so there's no real reason to hide anything about him.
As for DF, by this point we've already been told that people who have eaten them can't swim, and the very first episode already states that they're not very common or well known.
The bit about Sanji with the encyclopedia is something that hasn't happened yet, but it doesn't give anything away.
@@RutabegaNG If someone told me that X never appears again, it's a major spoiler to me because it reveals future plot (e.g. that X's crew doesn't cross path with the Straw Hat crew again in the future). So I'd know what to expect moving forward

It's like if some one reveals whether the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars will meet the Emperor again or not. Either way, the answer is kind of a spoiler to some. It influences the viewers expectations
