@@umonsrechercheinnovation3614 Yeah man, the first two albums he really went off. It was a big push for me since I grew up with a lot of more indie music but was always a noodler as a bassist. The first couple albums got me to pick up and start playing again.
Hands down one of the best songs of the last 20 years. This is up there with hallowed shit like rocks tonic juice magic, radio, table for glasses, my heroine, and very few others. I love every hot water music album and this is easily the best thing they ever wrote. Its absolute perfection. It never gets old. Its a masterpiece.
:) I also happened to get engaged to my wife on stage at a HWM show in El Paso in 2004. We'll be attending the May 21 show in NYC...which also happens to be our 7-year wedding anniversary.Good times!
As a HWM fan of over 15 years I gotta say I love the new song guys! And I like the lyrics showing along during the 'video'. Good call. Keep rocking. Forever.
Every band on Rise except Hot Water Music should be paying royalties to Poison the Well. Your sound is a decade or more old. HWM is the best thing to happen to this label.
I have been listening to this record for about a month now and love it. I like it even more than most of their stuff from the 2000s. Chuck and Chris' voices are killer. These guys always give me a shot of hope when I need it. HWM!
Nice! That show was October of '04, between games 2 and3 of the World series, which my beloved Red Sox won. Moments in Grace, Planes Mistaken for Stars, and Alexisonfire opened. Plus, I got to have barbecued brisket with the band before the show, while we figured out how to surprise my wife. All in all, an awesome couple of days!
These guys rule. And always have. The perfect blend of punk rock, southern rock and melodic hardcore with a little bit of jazz thrown in. Can't wait for this record.
that, my friend, is jason black. and, he is to be worshipped. if you're not familiar w/ their early stuff (toybox & doghouse records, and some no idea stuff), check it out. forever and counting is one of the greatest records ever released. but finding the rhythms & fuel for the hate game REALLY show black's talents..
Awesome song guys. I thought it was a weird choice of labels when I heard they signed to rise. But now I approve because it gets all the scene nerds all riled up.
Are there really a bunch of 15 year olds posting here about how they don't get this? Sorry kids, rise is taking a wonderful step forward by signing a few bands that don't rely on awful haircuts and synchronized headbanging to make music. This song is gold. Exister will be incredible.
Rise, I really approve of the bands you've been signing lately. Post-Hardcore and breakdowns are nice and all, but bands like this are such a welcome change once in a while. Keep it up
This is only a personal issue, but I feel like too many of the people I know go out intentionally looking to find new band after new band after new band, just for the sake of knowing who's who. But when you do this, you lose the ability to absorb yourself into one band's music for days on end. I've known about the song Freightliner for years from THPS4, but I'm finally diving into the deeper HWM, and I fucking love these guys' music. A new fan was born today.
I really would like to sit at bar with Chuck Ragan to drink some beers and have a nice conversation...I don't have idols, there are people I admire and Chuck is one of them! Thanks guys!!! K
"Stand to hold steady now to take a breath and somehow take a step to begin again after all we can only do our best...." You can only pick yourself up if you've fallen.
I just got done listening to side 2 of Frankie Stubbs 2001 solo ep. It's phenomenal... Dead Industrial Atmosphere- wow! If you want to hear Stubbs at his best, track a copy of that down.
This band was making music during the same time frame Jawbreaker was. Jawbreaker got started maybe five years earlier, but both these bands were very active in the early to mid nineties. They were a bit more "punk" back then, even more similar to Jawbreaker, and have put out some critically acclaimed/important records for alternative rock/posthardcore. Their newer stuff is a bit more "commercial" but I really really enjoy it. Check out their record Fuel for the Hate Game
did i miss anything? ps im not sarcastic or anything i love some of the bands you sign and its great that you are finally promoting The Air I Breathe and not just boring breakdown bands
im almost jealous, i've listened this band for years but nothings better than discovering an artist you really love. Check out A Flight and a Crash by them, its an awesome record.
tstezza, try and get your hands on live at the hardback, still my favorite live album to this day. As a fan of HWM for over 10 years and Jason black being my idol on bass, I personally think this album is incredible. To each their own.
Chances are your favorite Rise band listened to them as kids. Show some respect, signing HWM shows this record label is moving forward. That's good news for all the post-hardcore bands signed to this label too. If you don't like it, you don't have to listen. I'm sure if they wanted your knowledge on which bands to sign they would ask you.
yeah man they're sick. all these new bands work hella hard, they'll put out another record before the year is out. i also saw a meme on tumblr that was a pic of MDAM and it said "HWM? are they a MDAM cover band." i thought it was hilarious.
I don't know Chuck Ragan's life story, but I have to wonder what happened to inspire this song. The whole album is great but this song stands out by passion alone. It sounds like he put everything he had into this one.
Don't hate on Music that isn't quite your taste. To many people the hardcore bands on the label don't sound alike and Indie/Alternative bands sound exactly the same to them. But This is a great band and Variety on Rise is a damn good thing I agree.
Please explain the thumbs down...this shit is flawless. I don't give a fuck if I find hwm records sold at gas stations. They deserve all the recognition in the world.
there are 2 things in my life, i will NEVER quite - alhohol and cigarettes, maybe... one day....but listening to HOT WATER MUSIC and TOM WAITS.......neeevvveeerrrr !!!!!!!!
jason black is BY FAR the best bassist in all of indie/post-HC/catchy ass raspy voiced rock n roll. one of the greatest bassists of all time, and i mean across ALL genres. i've seen HWM many times, and it's impossible not to just watch that guy and go "how the HELL is he doing that???" if you play bass, study jason black. it's like if you were interested in evolution, u'd wanna do some research on darwin.
As a bass player I have fallen in love with this song. Damn does that bass line groove.
discovering the song now, 9 years after your comment and that' exactly my thought
@@umonsrechercheinnovation3614 Yeah man, the first two albums he really went off. It was a big push for me since I grew up with a lot of more indie music but was always a noodler as a bassist. The first couple albums got me to pick up and start playing again.
Yeah he rules
The passion behind Chuck's singing is one of a kind. Love these guys!!!
You're beautiful! Have a great day!
The bass in this song is awesome!

Truth! I recently rediscovered this one & have to play it everyday. Sums up my life.
Great voice. Great lyrics. Dope track. I actually came across this song at a super low point in my life. It helped to keep me alive. Thank you.
Perhaps the best song ever written.
Perhaps
This aged well
@@uhhhmaeve Yes it actually did...

This song CANNOT be played enough or loud enough!
I feel the same way man.

First time hearing this song. I'm a guitarist and the first thing I noticed was those tasty bass lines. Incredible song all around
Thank you, Hot Water Music, for making a return. Passion has returned to music.
I've had the hot water logo tattooed on me since 98. These boys have been the world to me for most of my life. Welcome back, guys. I've missed you.
"afterall we can only do our best" these words freggin changed me guys
great job with this song

Love the fact that people other than me can be this moved by these guys. EPIC. CANNOT WAIT.
great song!! refrain reminds me a bit of "you can go your own way" fleetwood mac
You're beautiful! Have a great day!

Can't stop listening to this song. It's that good.
I think that answer lies within yourself. To open yourself, and be open to what the world brings us, will captivate any at will.
I'm digging this song. Definitely looking forward to this album. I pre-ordered the vinyl. Can't wait for May 15!
AWESOME!!! You guys MUST come to Brazil.

This song is legit, I love all of the other rise bands but I'm glad they're expanding from just the metalcore and post hardcore scene.
The chorus somehow reminds me of 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac
Definitely
Is that why this song is so good?
Rise, I really approve of the bands you've been signing lately. Post-Hardcore and breakdowns are nice and all, but bands like this are such a welcome change once in a while. Keep it up

What a jam! That bass! May can't come soon enough!
I get that everyone has different tastes in music but I am REALLY happy to see stuff like this on your label. Great band.
The bass fill at about 1:13.
My favorite band..... by far! You guys changed my life and probably saved it. Thank you so fcuking much you guys!
Dammit such bad comments. This is the best song I heard in a minute and the actual video is epic. Quit hating
so Damn good
so stoked for this! I'm not sure what Rise records is doing but as long as it includes HWM and Sharks, I'm plenty okay with it.
This has a glassjaw feel to it in my opinion, love it!
i dont know how i havent broke that replay button!!! sooooooooooooo good!!!
Sounds like its been produced a lot better than the previous album. Brilliant voacals, love it.
WHAT A BASS!!!!! Just A M A Z I N G !!
This is a wicked tune
This is kinda different of what we're used to ear from Rise, I really like it!!
Thanks man! Send to your friends! I wish I be able to open a show to HWM in Brazil someday!
chuck's vocals are more amazing than ever
When I'm lost and yearning for voice there are only so many voices. Some lay tacit in my heart, some screech through the banners
that's just what i expected from the new record. simply the best!!
I really would like to sit at bar with Chuck Ragan to drink some beers and have a nice conversation...I don't have idols, there are people I admire and Chuck is one of them!

First song i've ever heard from these guys, i'll be taking a listen to their new album when it comes out :)
Yeahhh buddy, first time I've ever heard of/heard them and I was pretty blown away
Jason Black killing that bass. Such a good song. wow
bro, wtf I just jizzed when I heard that raspy voice, god sounds so good.

Love chucks voice. Favorite song
Great to see these guys back!
soo refreshing Rise, thanks!
this is good, a nice change from all the breakdowns and then they will sign more post-hardcore bands with even more breakdowns
We did. Daytrader, Transit, The Early November, Man Overboard and A Loss For Words.
great voice
I like them, i'm stoked for their new cd too. it's true, great comparision.

amazing bass tunes in this song

'Caution' is my personal favorite.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the album art? I miss their artwork by Sinc. Hwm has some of the best album artwork ever in all their previous records.
