I love the first gen Captur…my missus loves hers..I bought it new and it will last her through her remaining driving career….the thing I like is there’s plenty of headroom for us tall guys and it’s easy to get into for us old guys..they seem to have surpassed Citroen for quirky design features….

That colour scheme is known to Captur owners as "Guinness". The great advantage of unpainted plastics on the lower front bumper, rear bumper, doors and wheelarch trins is that it disguises any parking scrapes. I've found Michelin Crossclimates the best tyres to fit

I've never driven a Captur but a friend of mine is a huge fan. His late father had a couple and they were near perfect for people who have lost bit of suppleness shall we say. Small footprint but easy to get in and out of. Enjoying this French period in your recent reviews!

I was nervous before I bought my 2015 Captur (from 2 years old) as I have heard so many horror stories about French cars but I needent have worried; its been bulletproof. You should have mentioned how well equipped these things are, the list of toys is very long indeed, you get a lot for your money. I was shocked about how much you didn't like the mk 2 though.

Bought my wife a Tce120 Signature a couple of years ago and she loves it (purple with silver roof). Loads of kit, 1.2 petrol, and very comfy. Rear legroom is non existent but not an issue for two of us and a dog! Usual French flimsy plastics mean the heated seat switches disappear inside the seat trims and a few squeaks from the dash, but otherwise a good car!

I used to be a sales rep for Renault back when these ones were new, and it really is a very sound car this. Not really a lot wrong with them and they are as you say quite clever in many ways. Too bad they kind of fell through the market a bit in Norway. I’d argue the best one is the 2015 HH-model with the 1.2 petrol automatic.

    Was my wife's idea.

The idea is: With automatic climate control you aren't really supposed to turn the A/C off, since the car handles this automatically.
Mercedes also did this in the early 2000s.
Opel/Vauxhall used to have the A/C on/off setting within a submenu in the infotainment screen.

Yes no dipstick and the lack of temperature gauge is a mystery to me! The basics of a healthy motor, I buy older cars to put huge milage on, good service history then a good service including gearbox oil change then regular checks and upkeep and I have taken many cars over 200,000 miles then sold them on to people who have had many happy years of service after me! Basic maintenance and checks have become an inconvenience!
