    These are perhaps the most brilliantly demonstrated examples of watercolour top tips on RUclips. Anna does make it look so effortless and graceful, which is no doubt the fruit of hundreds (or a few thousands) of hours of practice. The colours, shapes and textures are so well defined, yet they are soft and blend seamlessly. A truly artistic and beautifully creative Brushmaster at work.

      Thank you Mark for your encouraging comments, I get a little tired of editing but knowing that people watch and find it useful gets me back to my laptop (and away from paints for a while) ❤️ Appreciate your feedback on the video and the artwork 😊 Happy New Year!

      @@AnnaBucciarelli I can imagine all that editing will take its toll a bit. I think many RUclipsrs are driven by the stats too much. They say they have to upload new videos every week as a minimum to maintain or increase viewers and subscribers. It's a pity that ends up eating into the creative time of the artist.
      You are appreciated very much by all your viewers and I'm sure some may sign up for online classes too. A Happy New Year to you too.

    Beautiful colours. I have learnt that one good point to stick by is; Patience. Have the patience to ‘wait’ for the paint to dry so that you can layer your colours. A lot of enthusiasts do not wait for the colours to dry and end up painting ‘wet on wet’ ruining the picture.

    Hi Anna!
    I hope all is well with you.
    I am mesmerized by your beautiful watercolors, your teaching style, and your helpful tutorials. I am not new to watercolor and have followed many other teachers. I guess I consider myself somewhere in the upper portions of an intermediate level artist. I've watched your RUclips videos and looked at your Skillshare classes. I even printed out the materials for the peony and rose classes but still feel a bit intimidated to try them because of the intricate details, I have decided I just need to take the plunge and try them as my artistic goal is to be able to paint in that style. Thank you for your kind and generous teaching.

  • @ladyflimflam

    I understand where you are going with number 4 but I found that advice frustrating as a beginner because the paints that were being recommended instead of black are blacks. The indigo you use is indanthrone blue and a black. Payne’s Gray is ultramarine blue and a black. Neutral tint is a blue a violet and a black. Perylene green is a black pigment. A little more specificity around this is I think better advice. So, avoid single pigment blacks unless you are after a specific effect because convenience mixes give a better effect most of the time. I do agree that DS indigo is a great black for a beginner’s palette, I just wish that watercolor instructors would make more of a distinction between single pigment blacks and convenience mixes that are black plus something else.

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  2 года назад

      Right, I agree. It's always difficult to include every detail into short RUclips tutorials and I omitted this details knowing people skip as soon as I start getting into the weeds [which hurts the channel]. I will mention at the next opportunity when I am doing a 'dark" subject and have more time. Thank you!

      Hi Andrea, a large proportion of watercolors are considered Granulating pigments, including ultramarine. They just have larger particles of pigment that you can detect with you eyes, it gives your color stronger texture on paper. You may want to see this video where I talk about different texture techniques, including the use of super granulation: ruclips.net/video/IPra-kiX45o/видео.html

    I am SO tired of the brainwashing around using black paint. I've seen beautiful works that have used black in their color mix. Old masters and lots of well known artists incorporate black into their mixes. The perpetuation of the myth that black is a no-no is a disservice. Let each artist determine which colors to use when they mix instead of proclaiming lies.

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  2 года назад +5

      Ummm… this is why it’s called a TIP not a rule. You are right - black is fine, I work with it and gave several tutorials on this channel showcasing single pigment blacks. A “TIP” is intended to help beginners avoid muddy results which undoubtedly happens with single pigment blacks. I hope this clarifies it - no need to use strong language like “brainwashing” and “lies”. My channel is pretty balanced and I don’t appreciate the tone.
