John is an amazing man, with an amazing voice. I first learned of him when I started spinning records for WMBH radio in Joplin (MO) back in the day. Sad though to see now, after all those years of hit records, #1s, and filling stadiums (inc. Farm Aid, since he is/was a farmer back in KY) that he seems to be relegated to extremely small venues for his performances, e.g. the Podunk, TX Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast .. 😦
Actually, for Larry's edification, Chuck (and Susan Stafford, the original co-host of W.O.F.) both ended up being fired and replaced by the current hosts, I think only after a season or two. They both realized that Merv (Griffin), the producer, was paying them on the cheap, and basically locked themselves in their dressing rooms one day shortly before the cameras started rolling, in protest and to demand a raise before they would come back out. They really thought Griffin would give in, but surprisingly he refused to, fired them, and then went out looking for their replacements. smh. IIRC, Susan is still around and even has her own website, reminiscing about her debut on W.O.F. IIRC also, after they left the show she went on to college and got a graduate degree in education and became a teacher. And still not bad looking at her current age .. 😉
Country Music just don't sound like that now except for The Pinecone Bluegrass Show that I listen to on Sunday Night.
Very awkward on this stage, everyone seems out of whack.
