I used to skydive 10 years ago with 40 jumps... just got back and started from scratch ( all the training , safety procedures, etc ) . Your videos are amazing and following you here . From Marietta , Ga ... Great job and keep it up !!!!!!
Hi Kathryn. With only 42 jumps (at my 66 years JAJA) I find landing the most difficult part of skydiving. The problem is the perception on "when to flare", however, your landing videos have helped me a lot, sincerely. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Hi Catherine, I love your videos. I’m glad your back to making them. You probably know Bob Wright. He was my jump master on my first jump. 1972. Sexsmith, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 I was 16 at the time. I love the sport. Our club went belly up unfortunately. Bob is still jumping. 16,000 or so. He has his skydiving business in Grand Bend. I have been toying with the idea of jumping again. I loved free falling, etc. The equipment now vs. then is incredible to say the least. My concern is my health. I have COPD, so, I’m not sure if the sport would be too rigorous. Grand Bend is only an hours drive, I’ll be getting in touch with him. Anyway I thought I’d introduce myself. Thank you for all you do. I’m willing to bet, anyone watching your videos , just might take that leap. Harry
This is ridiculously helpful for AFF. I did stage 1 and 2 yesterday (my muscles are so sore today) and no words can really prepare you for how fast that ground comes at you. I almost stuck my first landing, nailed my second, but all with prompts from the TA on the ground. Super handy to be able to "practice" with these.
Your celebratory sounds when you land are so good 😅 Thank you for putting this together! It's very helpful for a newbie like me. Landing #10 was so intense to watch!! That speed is crazy.
Thank you for this video. I am an AFF student and I desperately needed this. EDIT: the shadows really help so I can see how much flare you are inputting. Nice.
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for in a video!! I am about to start my AFF course, and what I was worried about was the landings, I couldn't find any good explanation on videos (I know I will have everything explained when I start the theory) but I like to be very very well prepared. This videos are great for reference!
Thanks for this video. As an old military paratrooper, I have a lot of time under round canopy's. I even have some wind tunnel time. But, waiting for my first AFF jump, my only question is rate of descent, and flaring. This video really helped with some confidence in turn rate, and when to flare. Now we just need the weather cooperate a little more!
Oh wow, what a powerful tool for a new skydiver to have. On my first solo AFF jump, my radio failed when I flew the parachute. I landed in the right spot, but flared too late and my plf was brutal lol.
Very cool video, I hope you and your familiy are doing well and I'd be really interested in a video with packing tips. I really struggle to get my almost new canopy inside the d-bag. It's also the last size that fits in there
Awesome video. These are great examples of good landings. Just to add something, I always check the wind sock or tetrahedron on or just before my down wind. Great job Skydive Vibes! Happy to see you're back. Blue Skies !!
I always had great landings as a student but would then always crash & roll after jumping with my own canopy. Had brand new lines put on, flare was still on point, seemed to stall fine at high altitude, couldn't figure out what the issue was. I ended up having a friend record a landing and they quickly noticed that the lines were too long. I was finally back to good landings after having them shortened by a few inches. Doesn't sound like a huge issue, but for being newly licensed with only 30 jumps, I wasn't aware of the impact an extra 3 or 4 inches on your lines could have.
Super helpful video. The season ended in my country, therefore visualizing practice is all I got. I find the most difficult to have a good stand-up landing, therefore I find this video more as a tutorial which I will watch many times.
Quick tips to stand your landings. 1- Don't rush to touch the ground let your canopy hold you till you naturally touch it. 2- Touch the ground and walk/run as you mean it. Haha often it is a confidence issue to stand even when the flare is great. 3- make sure to complete your flare all the way, focus on that as you land. Even over touching the ground. 4- It was easier for me when I folded my knees a bit like to remain in a sit position. Then I complete my flare and I can simply straighten the legs once the canopy stops. It helps to gage the height.
@@SkydiveVibes thanks! I will take these in consideration because it describes exactly what I must correct. I was unlucky enough to break a toe while landing on my first solo jump (no. 9) and I am involuntarily protect my feet while landing, therefore PLF is the best technique I've learned so far. :)) Don't get me wrong, I do land on my feet, but sometimes my brain goes full PLF, haha. Next season I'll take a canopy course, which I find necessary, and will definitely remember the tips above for my landings to come. 🙏
Thanks for your landing vids. Need them. My landings suck big time, to the point that I'm afraid of landings. The ground is very hard when you land on your face and 4 meters is quite high to fall🙈🙈😅. So.. practice and learning... haven't given up yet 🙈🤟
Hey just a friendly tip, when you flare, you consistently turn left. Might be something important to watch out for when you downsize to a small wing. It can be due to harness inputs or target fixation or toggle inbalance.
Thanks. We always had wind coming from the left, so maybe it was the compensation. However I did notice my hands weren't lowering at the same rate. I'll check that! ;) Thanks!
Recently started AFF, levels 1 & 2 were very good according to the instructors. However, I could not get the landings, and flared too early on both jumps but on jump two was far too early and broke my ankle dropping onto concrete! 😖. It's now put me off 🥴
My god I got so scared watching that 10th jump! Doing my second jump Sunday. My first landing last month didn’t go so well. Didn’t flare all the way down in time. Trashed my ankle. I’m more nervous for this second jump than my first!! Lol
How did it go?? I did my first two AFF jumps last weekend. First time I PLF'd into a ditch (no injuries), second time I flared well but freaked out and didnt PLF, landed right on my tailbone and the past week has not been fun 😅 considering going back tomorrow even though I'm not 100% because I left last week on a bad note
@@samg.270sorry for the late reply. Been slammed at work but I wanted to get back to you. My second jump was 5 weeks later. I had my ankle wrapped and braced. I thought I was gonna die. I had the two instructors and we spun out of control in ever direction. I lost both of them. I pulled as per the protocol and I was still spinning when I pulled. My lines tangled. I was like well this is how my life ends I got it untwisted after about 12-13 seconds. Landed. I was like fuck I’m going up again now let’s see that the universe throws at me. I have 9 jumps in. Only one perfect landing. I had to take a break bcuz of work issues. Me and my wife are taking a week off next month for me to crank out the jumps. It’s been three months and it’s all I think about. How is it going on your end bud? -Tony
@@jwprimetime9795 wait that's insane!!! So glad to hear you made it through that and immediately went back up. I haven't been able to jump since #2 but I'm hoping to get one in tomorrow morning. Improve one landing at a time and try to notice what you do or ask someone to film your landing to get a debriefing.

As a new skydiver I enjoyed every bit of this video. I’m still a little nervous about landing.
It is normal. It took me a good 100 jumps before feeling comfortable. ;) Try to improve a bit each landing!

My pleasure!!

I saw a VR canopy landing simulator. I want to try it
Great video, very helpful. Btw is it 'flare-hold-finish' 3-phase break or 2-phase break (what I learned by AFF A)?
In fact it is just me explaining what you see. It is not necessarily the way they show it to you. ;)
Flaring do you pull straight down by your sides or down and out in front of you?

I did my first 3 jumps today. Stood up 2 outta 3 landings. I have ZERO fear of the ground coming at me but I'm still not liking that damn door lol.

What canopy and wingload?
Sabre2 150 and 1:1 wingloading
thanks for this video, my landings are alway s a disaster

What altitudes did you fly your pattern?
