Pattern for base of hat
R1: 8 hdc in mc
R2: 8 inc
R3: 1 hdc, 1inc
R4: 2 hdc, 1inc
R5: 3 hdc, 1inc
R6: 4 hdc, 1inc
R7: 5 hdc, 1inc
R8: 6 hdc, 1inc
R9: hdc blo on all stitches
Then do normal hdc in ewch stitch until you reach 3 inches (if you don’t understand just watch the video come on don’t be lazy)
Next hdc flo on all stitches
1hdc, inc
2hdc, inc
3hdc, inc
4hdc, inc
That’s the pattern that works for me

Hello there! Sorry for a late reply. It is definitely possible! Just follow the increase sequence until you have the desired width for the top of the hat, mine is about 6-6.5inches which fits 22 circumference. If you want it smaller or bigger just make sure to measure.
