      Hey bro congratulations on 1.51k subs love the video...learned how to use melodyne but what melodyne version should I use studio or editor.....which gives great quality?

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  3 года назад

      @@timdaniel7745 The both have the same sound engine - so sound wise there really isn't gonna be a difference.
      the only difference is the included editing features.
      Studio is the complete set. It's able to do a TON of stuff for other instruments, etc.
      you should check out the comparison at Celemony's website.
      I believe - I'm on the "assistant" version. Anything more complex than that - and you're likely using it for specific features.
      For what I do - if I need anymore control - I'm likely telling the artist to sing again. lol
      Assistant is the lowest I'd go, editor is the highest I'd personally go. Studio is if I'm rich and wanna have the porch LOL

    I’m really enjoying your channel and find it helpful. I would love to see you go through your sessions pack and explain why you made the settings you did for each plugin and why you choose the plugin you did in each chain. I also love to see you do tutorials on using and setting and why you set them the way you did on plugins like the Lex 224, Galaxy, and other plugins.

      Hey - this is something that might be really cool for the livestreams! I'd be happy to go through them for sure.
      A lot of the initial console classics pack is based around solid starting point sounds that can fit well with just about anything. So most of the EQ, while tailored for each Style of microphone - is just a general area that should suit a variety of mics.
      Hopefully that makes sense.
      I'm in the final stages of my heritage packs for both rackmount and desktops. I took everything I learned from the first one, and made it about 100X bigger, better, and leaned more towards creative sounds for this one as well. Leaning heavily on sounds from hit classic songs - to show how to get creative with plugins to mold and sculpt sounds.
      If CC 1 is the starting point, CC 2 is going to be the exploration point.
      Cheers!

    Hey Steve, great videos. You probably already know how to do this, but I just discovered in Melodyne 5 from Assistant on up, the new Sibilant Tool - per-note adjustment of volume ratio between pitched and unpitched vocal sounds; de-essing. I was able to turn on seeing Sibilance by selecting the wrench (note assignment mode) and then selecting Algorithm on the left and checking the Sibilant Handling checkbox. Then changing back to the Edit Mode (blobs next to the wrench) and then clicking on the Amplitude Tool (up/down arrow with horizontal lines on the ends) and holding the click and that exposes two new tools and the bottom one is the Sibilant Balance tool. Now I was able to select all notes and then by clicking on one of the Sibilant areas show on the notes, I was able to drag down and adjust the level of all the Sibilant areas. I could also go back and do just the ones causing problems. Sibilant issues solved without having the use another tool. At least it appears that way, as I haven't done thorough testing. Thought people might be interested in this. :)

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  2 года назад +1

      It would really ultimately be the same way.
      Load melodyne on an insert, transfer the audio into the program, start tuning. 😎
      Luna can load regular AU’s in addition to UAD plugins.

    Nobody needs merge and Melodyne and Autotune. The tool makes voices and vocals mess up. Do not use it. Only beginners do. Produce original tracks with natural vocals.

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  Год назад

      Sorry mate..
      I hate to burst your bubble. But literally every track on the radio, and hit songs for the last 20 years have had some form of pitch correction.
      Even back in the 80’s they were changing tape speed while recording to fix pitch...
      Now. That said - the RIGHT thing to do is focus on getting a great take off the bat. As close as possible to where you wouldn’t necessarily need it.
      Think of the right way to use this tool as a buffer machine for paint in a car.. car looks great, but buff it out and make it look show room floor ready.
      Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

    Can you use the ARA version of Melodyne on luna?

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  3 года назад

      I'd imagine you can - I'd have to test this.
      I've used ARA and I stopped after it glitched numerous times on me. Back when I was using logic. I love the features - but I need to be rock solid reliability and (while it may have been something I was doing) I just kind of avoid it.
      I don't have a problem with the old school method of just doing a step or two extra.
      I'll double check at some point in the very near future!
      Cheers!

    Melodyne 5 issentials is poor value for money. MAudio do a free plugin that does just as good a job and it's free. You don't get the fancy graphics, but they're not much use in essentials because you can't adjust most of what you see.
