Thanks a bunch for all the support guys. If you want to support the channel head on over to www.thestevekinney.com helps me be able to make time and create these videos.
Hey bro congratulations on 1.51k subs love the video...learned how to use melodyne but what melodyne version should I use studio or editor.....which gives great quality?
@@timdaniel7745 The both have the same sound engine - so sound wise there really isn't gonna be a difference.
the only difference is the included editing features.
Studio is the complete set. It's able to do a TON of stuff for other instruments, etc.
you should check out the comparison at Celemony's website.
I believe - I'm on the "assistant" version. Anything more complex than that - and you're likely using it for specific features.
For what I do - if I need anymore control - I'm likely telling the artist to sing again. lol
Assistant is the lowest I'd go, editor is the highest I'd personally go. Studio is if I'm rich and wanna have the porch LOL
@@TheSteveKinney thanks bro I had this question for a long time...
@@timdaniel7745 You got it, anytime. Great to see ya in the comments brotha!
Great job Steve. This is awesome. I am so excited to try this and get even better sounding demos.
I’m really enjoying your channel and find it helpful. I would love to see you go through your sessions pack and explain why you made the settings you did for each plugin and why you choose the plugin you did in each chain. I also love to see you do tutorials on using and setting and why you set them the way you did on plugins like the Lex 224, Galaxy, and other plugins.
Hey - this is something that might be really cool for the livestreams! I'd be happy to go through them for sure.
A lot of the initial console classics pack is based around solid starting point sounds that can fit well with just about anything. So most of the EQ, while tailored for each Style of microphone - is just a general area that should suit a variety of mics.
Hopefully that makes sense.
I'm in the final stages of my heritage packs for both rackmount and desktops. I took everything I learned from the first one, and made it about 100X bigger, better, and leaned more towards creative sounds for this one as well. Leaning heavily on sounds from hit classic songs - to show how to get creative with plugins to mold and sculpt sounds.
If CC 1 is the starting point, CC 2 is going to be the exploration point.
Cheers!
Lovin' this singer too.
Cheers mate!
Katrina Burgoyne.
Hey Steve, great videos. You probably already know how to do this, but I just discovered in Melodyne 5 from Assistant on up, the new Sibilant Tool - per-note adjustment of volume ratio between pitched and unpitched vocal sounds; de-essing. I was able to turn on seeing Sibilance by selecting the wrench (note assignment mode) and then selecting Algorithm on the left and checking the Sibilant Handling checkbox. Then changing back to the Edit Mode (blobs next to the wrench) and then clicking on the Amplitude Tool (up/down arrow with horizontal lines on the ends) and holding the click and that exposes two new tools and the bottom one is the Sibilant Balance tool. Now I was able to select all notes and then by clicking on one of the Sibilant areas show on the notes, I was able to drag down and adjust the level of all the Sibilant areas. I could also go back and do just the ones causing problems. Sibilant issues solved without having the use another tool. At least it appears that way, as I haven't done thorough testing. Thought people might be interested in this. :)
Yeah! That’s a great method. I think I touched on this briefly in another video - but didn’t do it justice.
Great pro tip!
lol thought you were good at explaining lol but the one thing i really needed was how to zoom in and thats the thing you didnt show ............. but i slowly figured it out........ but trust me your better then a lot of others
great content, thanks for this videos!
Glad you like them! Great to see ya in the comments section, cheers!
steve the GOAT
Awesome, thanks so much!!!
No worries! Cheers!
This was great, thank you 🙏🏻. I saw the Apollo Solo video where you made a song from scratch, but can you do one for recording vocals/ mixing on the Twin??
Definitely! Thanks for watching!
Great video thank you!
Thanks for watching and stopping by! Cheers!
hey steve, would you then freeze plugin to commit or just bounce the file and reimport
It’s probably easiest to bounce the file and then reimport.
Awesome Steve! Do you know how to import Melodyne into Luna or how to use melodyne with Luna like you do here with logic?
It would really ultimately be the same way.
Load melodyne on an insert, transfer the audio into the program, start tuning. 😎
Luna can load regular AU’s in addition to UAD plugins.
Cheers!
@@TheSteveKinney Ok Steve. I downloaded Melodyne, it is on my Mac, but i don't know how to insert it in the Luna plugins list.
great content
Thanks for this great video. Have been using the plugin for a bit and it is great and natural sounding. My one complaint! Having to click into the song timeline each time you want playback. Why can't we just click and play from Melodyne?
Just subscribed. Channel is great! Looks awesome too!
Next time your in melodyne - double click where you wanna play the track from.
This will play only the melodyne audio.
@@TheSteveKinney Ahh ... Thank you!
how does one get multiple tracks into melodyne?
Define multiple tracks?
Do you mean into the same plugin instance?
@@TheSteveKinney i figured it out
Steve, do you wear that jacket everyday?
LOL 😂 love this comment
No. But fun fact - i only wear it for something to clip my lapel mic to - so it looks clean while filming. Plus it’s comfy.
When summer hit - I had to find a different kind of shirt. lol
Cheers mate!
Nobody needs merge and Melodyne and Autotune. The tool makes voices and vocals mess up. Do not use it. Only beginners do. Produce original tracks with natural vocals.
Sorry mate..
I hate to burst your bubble. But literally every track on the radio, and hit songs for the last 20 years have had some form of pitch correction.
Even back in the 80’s they were changing tape speed while recording to fix pitch...
Now. That said - the RIGHT thing to do is focus on getting a great take off the bat. As close as possible to where you wouldn’t necessarily need it.
Think of the right way to use this tool as a buffer machine for paint in a car.. car looks great, but buff it out and make it look show room floor ready.
Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Would it be possible to have your editor zoom in on the screen when you are showing us tools and specific sections of the song? They are very small on that really large screen and hard to see on iPad. :)
Hey yeah! I batched a lot of my content - so now I'm about to make my next batch, gonna swap my comp into 1080p the next time I do screen caps.
Cheers!
@@TheSteveKinney Thanks!
Thank you very much, Steve. Have you done anything on Studio One?
No. I’ve worked in it a few times very briefly. I’ve considered purchasing just to have. But I don’t really have a need at the moment.
Looks like a great daw!
It’s a great Daw I have studio one 5 pro and it comes with melodyne 5
Can you use the ARA version of Melodyne on luna?
I'd imagine you can - I'd have to test this.
I've used ARA and I stopped after it glitched numerous times on me. Back when I was using logic. I love the features - but I need to be rock solid reliability and (while it may have been something I was doing) I just kind of avoid it.
I don't have a problem with the old school method of just doing a step or two extra.
I'll double check at some point in the very near future!
Cheers!
Melodyne 5 issentials is poor value for money. MAudio do a free plugin that does just as good a job and it's free. You don't get the fancy graphics, but they're not much use in essentials because you can't adjust most of what you see.
True.
I usually recommend assist or higher.
