Once again thanks Mike. I was on the fence re going from 4 to 5. This has pretty much convinced me. I don’t do much voice but I do play about a bit with chords. I usually use Melodyne for converting from Audio to MIDI so I can add or change instruments. The chording might make that much better. The de essing or the handling of sibilance is another part that really has me sold. Thanks again. Tony
I'll go to 5 as well, there are too many clever improvements, but I'll wait for the next sale (summer? black friday?) I find it strange though you cannot force sibilants time stretching. Sometimes it could be useful, for example when changing relative lengths of two adjacent notes...
Thanks for watching again Tony - I should award points or something! One odd use I had for Melodyne before was ad-libbing instrument parts - like say trumpet solos. My ability to make things up with my voice, was better than my keyboard skills! Anyway, I used to convert the audio to midi as you say - and it was trick that really worked! I love that they are really working towards making the results more and more natural. I'm waiting for the Mike to Suzi algorithm - like, where I can sing the part, but Suzi's voice comes out :)
Its a good point - I wonder if there is an over-ride? I'll look into it. I'm planning to do some short tutorials for each of these features. Thanks for watching!
Been using Melodyne for years and you showed me a few things I did not know. Even before version 5 I’ve been using Melodyne to adjust sibilance. Thanks.
Hi Mike, you are a breath of fresh air and a fantastic creative informer across the spectrum of creating music. From the P.C., to the finished mastering. Nice one. Great stuff, and what's even better?, it's all about the music and not all about you. keep it up, I will be spreading the word. Thanks again Mike for speaking my language. Have a great life my friend.
I've had Melodyne 2 for years. On a whim, finally decided to upgrade, by coincidence, a week after 5 was released. What an amazing difference from 2. I've watched several of Celemony's demonstration videos that are quite amazing. Could take a long time to learn to use all of the potential.
Cool! Great for you! I am in somewhat of the same boat, I upgraded to Melodyne 4 after 10 years, and got a free upgrade to Melodyne 5. Was not aware that there were this many changes. Happy about it watching this video.
It’s amazing... I got the time limited free upgrade... really not sure that I can justify, as a hobbyist, the fees to keep it. But it is truly brilliant, and I’m gonna have to see what’s in the piggy bank!
Dude this is the second video of yours that I have watched and I must say that you have a talent for teaching that very few posess. Wish you used logic but I will still subscribe.
Just upgraded from Assistant 5 to Editor 5. Maybe the end of the year sales will get me to the Studio version so I can do multitrack. Love the ease of use of Melodyne since the very first taste of it way back during the Sonar Platinum days.
Product is amazing and very concise vid by you Mike, as always. One thing to note though if you have a Windows machine with an older version of the OS is that Celemony says Melodyne 5 requires Windows 10. Maybe you can still try it, but for now that’s stopped my upgrade plans on an 8.1 machine.
Nice video. Melodyne has always been game changing software and has only gotten better. I love how you can change individual notes of homogeneous polyphonic audio loops, as well as having the loop change to follow chords. Note to all, you'll need at least Melodyne Editor to perform this polyphonic voodoo. I'll definitely have to wait for a super sale to upgrade from Essential to Editor.
Hi Mike, I’m new to your channel. Really excellent and some great content giving users a head start in learning DAWs and add-ons. I’m a relatively experienced user of Studio One but I still find much to learn or refresh on here. Keep up the great work, you are much appreciated.
A mighty beautiful product with fantastic possibilities. Unfortunately a bit too expensive for me. Until now I use Zplane VielKlang 2. Less options but actually I only use it for vocals. And there it suffices for me. But a good explanation!
Another nice video Mike. Maybe I missed it, but what version/package are you using; essential, assistant, editor, or studio? My vocalist uses vibrato quite a bit and the plug-in I'm currently using seems to have trouble with that.
@@CreativeSauce Thanks Mike. "Duh" moment for me not seeing it on the screen. Pushing $800 US for the studio package won't cut it for me, despite how cool it is. The good and bad about retirement and fixed incomes.
Mike, thanks as always. BUT... I would really like to know what is the minimum M5 level that gives you each feature. It isn't clear in any of the Melodyne doco I've read (and unfortunately that's probably intentional, signed off by by Fred at Marketing). I don't have enough need to justify the higher paid levels - but that does not make it less of a mouth-watering prospect. Am wondering if someone can point me to a clear feature comparison that would spell it out for me - especially with respect to your top 5 features, which *are* really cool.
If you download the trial version I think you can set it to only give you the features of a particular M5 level. Not as simple as looking at a feature list for sure but hope it helps!
@@Tanoti Thanks John. I've checked and M5 Essentials does have enough of what I need, so I've decided to buy it. It is amazingly clever software. Take care and stay safe
I'm impressed with the cord feature adding it to notes but she sounded best before you started messing with it so I'm not so sure about the vocals impressive as they are.
Is it possible to isolate individual tracks using Melodyne? For ex; isolating the vocal track or guitar track on a pre existing recording, off of a CD?
Hi Mike. I'm only using them, because I feel it looks a bit better on video :) They are the Shure SE215s. I actually really like them for monitoring, coz they block outside noise very well. They DO take a bit of getting used to, in terms of putting them in. I talk about them towards the end of this video ruclips.net/video/1MfCSqtbKuE/видео.html
@@CreativeSauce Thanks for letting me know, that's what I thought. At first I thought they were hearing aids, which I wear . I might try out a pair myself. It does look better I think.
First off I wouldn't need to buy a Taylor V class. I could just upgrade from Studio 4 and retune my current acoustic guitars. I'm already in the habit of Melodyne-ing my bass tracks.
Excellent video Mike. You are a pleasure to listen to. (Love the occasional quip with the facial expression). Does Cakewalk have a "Chord track" that you refer to in the video? Is it possible to make a chord track within Cakewalk if they don't have an official chord track?
i have to tune a vocal and the song change many times of key, from C maj to A maj. how do i change the key signature on melodyne? please help me. thanks!
You can do almost all of this with VariAudio, which comes free with Cubase Pro, except the polyphonic manipulation. A handy tool and advantage that Melodyne has, particularly for live gig mixes where a string has gone out of tune, but if Steinberg add polyphonic tuning to Variaudio, then Melodyne will need some extra innovation sauce to win any Cubase users over.
Melodyne 5 is in different versions essential $99 assistant $299 editor $499 and then studio $849. What were you using? which version. Why would I pay so much when you have many other tools? I think your 5 reasons can be applied to other cheaper software. So why pay more
Hi Mike, great video as always! I heard someone comment on another RUclips video that the new Melodyne 5 upgrade crashed his Cakewalk by BandLab session. It looks like in this video you are using the stand alone version. Have you had any problems using Melodyne 5 as a region effect in Cakewalk?
Why it's not amazing, it's forcing people to windows 10, dropping support for all previous owners, not publishing and not informing people that in 3 months time even after emailed and asked that an update was due. Charging for a substandard update at a time of crisis. As a company they are on par with Gibson IMO. Also not exactly bug free and stable in cakewalk in my experience.
I hear you. I HATE Windows 10. I would like to hang on to my excellent stable Windows 7 installation until it is pried from my cold dead fingers. It was an improvement over all its predecessors AND its successors. Alas, I guess I will have to give in eventually as support for essential programs drops away. :-(
i liked your video, but saying to click the dislike button twice if you didn't like the video is dishonest. (one click dislikes it and the second time undoes that action. Don't be dishonest, your videos are above that
I just upgraded to melodyne editor. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to transfer multiple tracks so I can edit the backing vocal phrasing to match the lead track. How can I view them together?
Thanks for your excellent review, Mike! Really enjoyed it.
Thank you:)

Yeah. Downloaded a demo of Melodyne last year and really liked it. Much nicer than Waves Tune, what I use. Defo on the to buy list...

I love the look of Melodyne 5, but it's just out side of my budget :(
Mike, you've convinced me to upgrade; I hope Celemony does something nice for you.
And now you've written "Hit the Road Jack"! Just kidding. Super cool features and Melodyne is about to get some of my money.
