That was the best Melodyne Tutorial I have seen so far AND I'VE SEEN A LOT! Instant follow! Can't wait to learn a lot more from you, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
That’s a really great point! Tuning my own voice and understanding things like transitions and where I land, and vibrato, has also helped me with my singing as well
Melodyne is one of a kind. Really. I've been using it for over 10 years now and, to our fortune, it's just been becoming better and better with each subsequent version.
Before Melodyne, you had to take several takes of which you picked phrasing of each word out of.. choppped it all up, found the best take in terms of rhythm and aligned your cuts to that... At that point you started to run things through Auto-tune. Melodyne has eased a lot of those steps and allowed you to do less take chopping, saving you time and your performer's voice. Great stuff.
Great video! 😎👍 I bought Melodyne studio 4 in 2016 to help me with my own voice, mainly tightening up my vocal stacks. Gradually I got hooked on it. Now I’m using it for a lot of things. Getting rid of unwanted noises, editing anything audio, from basses, strings, winds, guitars and of course vocals- not only for note editing but for rhythm, reducing sibilants, evening out dynamics, swapping notes, phrases, you name it. It sped up my work flow immensely. I use it almost everyday! Great plugin’
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching ☺️. It’s such a great tool! You mentioned some great use cases I hadn’t thought of like reducing sibilants. Great idea - I’ll have to try that! Love using melodyne for timing and rhythm too.
you are a really good teacher man! I'm going through an engineering nightmare and it affects my mind frame in the moment when i create. You are really showing me I have a much better chance at making the music I hear in my head. Thank you!
Yo this was a life saver. I went to a recording school and learned melodyne there but honestly they didn’t explain it very well and ever since I’ve been so confused still. Watching this literally not even taking 10 minutes, I finally understand melodyne exactly how I wanted to. The way you explained things legit just clicked so easy for me. Thank you!!!
Thanks for such positive feedback Jason! Really appreciate you watching and happy it was helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see covered in a future video - I’m always looking for more video ideas.
This video was fantastic, the only thing I could suggest was that I wish you had hit play more often, if that makes sense! Everything was explained and shown perfectly, but there were many moments where you explained something, showed how to do it and why, but then moved on to the next part; I was hoping to hear what each note/section sounded like before and after the tuning. Hope to see more of this, definitely subscribing!
Thanks for a really very helpful video. The only thing that was missing is a brief explanation of the difference in features depending on the version of Melodyne that is being used. That said, thanks so much for taking the time to make this great introduction to this very useful tool!
REVELATION MOMENT FOR ME! 5:35 I always split the note where it it's 'waist' is - WRONG! It should be split half way down the dip line at the centre line of the blob. Thanks so much! This probably explains why I always struggle with these corrections and end up with wobbly gargling.
Amazing! Happy to help. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with - doesn’t have to be Melodyne related. This is a brand new channel and your feedback / future video ideas are always welcomed!

AWESOME video!!! I watched to see if I could learn something new about Melodyne and I did! The technique you introduced about separating the sustain and the vibrato REEEALLY is gold to me! Thanks man!!
Thanks! I’m not sure the original shortcut- I reprogrammed mine to be the same as pro tools. If you go to keyboard shortcuts preferences it should be listed there!

For “auto” tuning - Antares Autotune, in my opinion.

I’m having problems with this lately, since I’m not a great singer when I snap my vocals into the right key they sound really bad even though they’re “tuned and in key”. How do I fix this so my vocals can sound natural while being on the right key?
You may need to go in manually and separate the notes into smaller pieces before snapping all to the pitch grid.
Also be sure not to over use the pitch modulation tool. You want to keep the natural movement of your voice but centered over the correct note.
