Epic. Not having the time or patience to learn and progress in perfect conditions this could really help. I need time on the foil and just towing around on flat water on a calm day will be amazing.
Great review Oskar, thanks for the effort to make this video! Impressed by the audio quality while riding. Tow boogies are sooo much fun. Love that we established the name Tow Boogie. Shoutout to my buddy Mike Ronge, the inventor who came up with that name!
Great review and riding Oskar but wow Mark you’ve really outdone yourself it’s so polished for a 1st gen release. The turning looks very natural and there’s a lot to be said for being able to ride lightweight tow gear all the time! 👏
Absolutley! Thats the main thing for me, you arent sacrificing riding your smallest lightest tow gear. It just comes with no compromise to the performance while you are on foil and riding a wave.
Thanks for the review Oskar, self towing is the way to go! The other downside (besides price, 250h maintenance and battery degradation over time) is it'll probably be considered as jetski in most places, so got to pay attention in protected waters and such. It's just a matter of time when there is some kind of regulation pops up due to some bad actor...
Yeah its a whole new relm with the electrification of foil products. Battery deg is a great point, not sure what the cycles are like on these but I'll do an update over time. Regulation is the potential risk with these. They are ultimately safe devices is used safely... like anything its the one person that usues it incorrectly that will ruin it for all of us. But at this stage I am treating it just like I would a jetski and adhering to those regulations. Our maritime actually came out to see me using it and they were so interested in getting one for rescues. They didn't raise any concerns about safety but loved the idea of it being inflatable.

Hi Oskar ! I love your videos so much ! I just received my zero tow but I find it jumps easyly When crusing..do you have advice? Thanks and happy new year!
@@matthieuconan1183 hey mate! Thanks, glad you enjoy! I set the manual rudder offset to 15% left, that really helps. Also try running your hull at a lower pressure, even 1 psi or lower. That has helped me lately. Also the slower you can drive the boogie the better! The faster it jumps around a lot more
@ the propeller spinning in one direction creates an opposite Ruston force on the boogie which results in it wanting to turn to the right. Adding in the offset counteracts this force a bit and helps with it want to roll to the right when it hits chop.
@@philiptuffs-wh7jp no it won’t! I treat it just like a JetSki, which for us means you have to be atleast 200m away from any other water user. If you have a crowded line up or anything like that I just wouldn’t use it. But if you can escape to a wave or spot by yourself, then it’s incredible!
Great review Oskar! It helped me pull the trigger on one. Can you recommend a board size and front foil for a 100kg beginner in surf? Intermediate kite foiler on Armstrong gear. A bit unsure.
Hi mate! I would say if you are learning to tow foil more surface area is going to be your friend. I would guess around 40-45L, and something with some width rather than skinny as it gets you tot he surface much easier with the extra surface area. As for the front foil I would got to the HA range, possibly the 1080 if you want to learn to pump and just glide between bumps. Or even the 980 if you're already confident with the pump. Just my thoughts, but I am also on 70ish kg
Once the board gets to the surface of the water and is planing almost any sized foil will work. Some people will need to modify their starting technique to do this compared to a Jetski or boat. I start on my knees to do this.
Great comprehensive review. Thank you for the time and effort! Been considering an efoil, but this seems like maybe a more versatile experience, and a big battery? Any recommendations on this versus an e?
Yes it’s self righting if it get tumbled by a big wave. We have used a stiff PE coated rope so it resists coiling around the boogie. Giving the boogie a few presses of the trigger every few minutes while it is floating helps keep the rope out straight out the back.
Hi Oskar.Have you tried the foil drive gen 2? If so, what makes this a better solution for towing yourself into waves? This system seams like a lot more stuff to haul around and manage while you are in the water instead of just going lower on your mast and hitting the trigger whenever you want power with the foil drive.
It’s more about length than volume. I’ve got up on a 11 litre WKT board with a bit of effort. You do want a board that you can paddle though just incase.
Great review Oskar. 😎🤙🔥 Looks pretty cool! Kinda sketchy to buy though. Looks like they only accept bank transfers. I would want purchase protection on something this expensive. Like through PayPal or something. I guess it’s a new product and not really setup to sell them yet?
Hey, there are a couple of reasons for not using credit cards or PayPal. The fees are quite high, 2-4% depending on the card. this cost would have to be added. Most high value products are done with bank transfers. The other is fraudulent charge backs. I’ve had them previously with $50 items I’ve sold and they are a nightmare. A fraudulent charge back is a risk and hassle that at the moment I can’t take so have opted for just bank transfer.
I treat it like a JetSki. So if anyone else is in the water, then I don’t use it. I don’t think they should be used near crowds! That’s also the joy, you can get away from the crowds with it ;)
An electric foil is much heavier with the batteries in the board. This becomes much harder and slower to turn. For example my setup weighs about 5kg, where as an E-Foil is about 25kg. With this device you can ride a super light weight small board, with the smallest highest performance foils so the performance on the wave is as high as possible.
I’ve had this thought as well. I know there is possibility to use two batteries stacked on top of each other so that could be the solution!! Would be heavy carrying into the water though
All the water footage is from a GoPro Max that I use on a 3PV pole. Then the audio is also reordered from a GoPro but I use a voice isolator plugin in Davinci Resolve to clean out all the wind noise. Comes out looking really good!
I sold my foil drive for one of these and best decision. This thing is so fun. Yes it’d be a blast with friends but has been epic for solo tow sessions too. Super light, easy to get in and out of water by your self, easy to control, and you’re foiling on your regular weighted gear no battery box or prop attached to your setup. Highly recommend

My biggest thing with riding any electric products is I don’t want to sacrifice performance when I am on a wave, which is my ultimate goal. Also if you want to learn to SUP DW, it’s not going to be much help… maybe it would be good to do DW runs and then when you come down use it to get back on foil 🤷 I can already SUP DW so I am only looking for a device to help me ride waves and at the highest performance and we have heaps of spots with no people so I would choose the ZeroTow. Small down wind runs work ok, but going directly into chop can be hard work so if you can go upwind in a bay and then go out into the waves then that’s ideal. Having said that I haven’t winged in over 12 months and have been full time on the Boogie in any conditions and have always had fun!

It’s funny, I had the same perspective! But think about it in reverse, a brand new Yamaha FX is the same as 3 new Boogies. Factor in ski/trailer rego, servicing, licenses, fuel, and car maintenance from reversing into the ocean, might as well add a fourth boogie haha. And you still need another foiler to drive and they’ll take 50% of the waves. So wave per dollar you’re looking at a 1 to 8 ratio comparing new ski to new boogie. Now you’re thinking it’s a bargain 😉 Still nothing wrong with the prone setup we all still own! We are just creatures that always seem want more 😞
