To those wondering why the Alien wasn’t interested in Jonesy, it’s because he was useless to the Alien. He was too small to be any kind of viable host/incubator for morphing an egg or to host another embryo. And he was too small to be considered a threat. Because of those reasons, Jonesy was allowed to live.
I think Jonesy was a spy for the Weyland-Yutani corporation. It was therefore they knew what was going on on Sulaco. It couldn't have been Ash,since he was demolished sooner in the movie. Perhaps did Jonesy have some kind of camera in his eyes, that sent information back to Weyland-Yutani? The same on the spacestation? But was there a competive corporation involved ? It opens up for many scenarios ??
Yes, im glad someone pointed this out, generally, people believe the XX121 xeno to just be an overly violent monster that destroys anything in its path, but in actuality it just has the sole goal of continuing the survival of its species and only kills actual threats, this case, humans pose a threat to the hive or in this case just Big Chap so Jonesy is pretty much ignored by the Alien except for the minor interaction in the DC and TC, which I believe was to show more of the Xeno's intelligence, it's testing the cat and the cat had basically no reaction to its presence so therefore not worth it's time
I prefer the theatrical cut of this, if only because the cat is staring right at the alien rather than just looking for it's dinner bowl off set somewhere.
Because Jones was the only one who tried to help him, the Alien was a poor scared baby born alone in strange place with human trying to kill him..... www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2l0n16/what_is_the_xenomorph_from_the_movie_alien_is/
I like both versions. In the novelisation, when Ripley is in the Narcissus and tries to hide for the Alien, the xenomorph toys with Jones in the box, up to the point where it gets really violent and Jones is beyond himself. Always wondered if they filmed that, but I guess it would be difficult and harsh to get the "actor" cats to that point
In the theatrical cut, I assume the Alien just went "A cat? I have more class than those other people who would kill the family pet first chance they get. Jonesy will live."
I have a theory that may not be as far-fetched as most might think. When the alien sees Jonesy in his kennel, it seems curious and checks out the kennel. They had interacted briefly during Brent's death and the alien had to have noticed that Jonesy was free range and went wherever he wanted in the ship. In the director's cut, the alien swipes Jonesy aside as if in frustration. It's at this moment that the alien realizes that Ripley is trying to escape the Nostromo in order to kill it. Remember. The alien is technically part-human (having birthed from Kane's body) and likely has some level of human intelligence. That's why the next time we see it, it's on the escape shuttle with Ripley.
Makoto Mikami I think the Xenomorph n Jonesy was on the same team jonesy led Brett to the Xenomorph distracted Brett long enough for the kill n jonesy led the Xenomorph to the Narcissus
It was trying to let jonesy out so they can both be bad together. Little did it know that jonesy was going to sell it out eventually. Well we all know since he's an orange Kitty its a given he'll end up doing something rotten.

See, in The Theatrical Version, they are *CLEARLY* communicating, non-verbally - it *looks* as though they are establishing some kind of an alliance, a non-aggression pact, or at least a non-verbal agreement *not to try to fuck with each other* and *respect The Territoriality Principle* (“Don’t go down into The Scary Basement - just let The Big Fucker KEEP it.”), which The Humans violate continually and get punished for it (by getting eaten, killed and f**ked (and not necessarily in that order, either.)) In The Director’s Cut, The Cat is clearly TERRIFIED, wants to run away but CAN’T, and so He violently swats the sealed container to one side upon realising that he doesn’t have small enough hands to release the catch, and let The Cat try to run away so that he can CHASE it, and eat it - The Problem (for him) with THESE humans is that they don’t run away, they just stay standing, frozen in place with fear, which means that He doesn’t get to have a decent hunt out of it by making sport out of chasing down his prey. The Humans in Alien 3 are PERFECT prey - they run away all the time.

The Alien understood that messing with Jonesy would likely result in a brutal scratch or ankle bite.
Cats scare bears, if Vasquez could overpower a xenomorph, I'm just saying the hierarchy seems quite clear.
LMFAO
If you've ever seen cats versus cobras, crocodiles or bears, you know this to be true.
I loved the theatrical version, where they are staring at each other.
The Xenomorph probably respected Jonsie, I mean they’re both predators after all Jonsie is just smaller in size.
2 gods meet

I love how the Xenomorph is uninterested in killing cats as it felt pointless compared to killing humans.
It's merely fellow respect between two capable predators.

The Aliens hunt only organisms that are likely to interfere with their reproduction.

This made me laugh so bad lol
Alien probably felt the same way, hence the smack 😂
The Alien understood who was really the perfect organism. Don't mess with a domestic cat! 😆
The alien was like
Wtf is this thing
0:04 Killers know each other when they see each other.... 😉
for whatever reason when the alien pushes him aside it scares the crap outta me.
Perhaps because it is rather sudden and perhaps a bit jarring.
well, he just took him aside. He was even in the same aisle a bit later. Never killed the cat just didn't seem interested and "put" him apart.

I love Jonesy!
Me and Mr Jones!
The last survivor of the Nostromo crew (alongside Ripley, of course).
This only shows that even the aliens are not immune to cats charm.

Alien looking at the other perfect killing machine and was like "Game recognize game" 😂
Alright the deleted version is actually just slapstick comedy level funny😂😭😭

In an early script for a follow up movie, the xenomorph lands on a planet, and infect all the people living there, but that script was scrapped 😛
@@user-sc9li1qt1e still wouldn't have been any better than the actual follow-up that Cameron squeezed out of his you-know-what.

I always wondered why he just left him

Are You Still Making Vids?
Nope.
So they censored the theartical (sorry if i spelled wrong) version?
I think it's just an artistic decision. They also cut other scenes, but I think for issues of length of the film.
For example what scenes they censored but returns in Director's Cut?
Mmm... I think the "coccon scene" is the most famous.
The deleted scene would have turned the audience against the alien, if it was being unkind to the cat
