      Thanks. The large radius curves were one of my must have features. I could've crammed a bunch more layout into the space, but that would've meant tight radius curves.

I am looking forward to seeing the A/B brewery and product loading tribute when you have finished it.

      Yes, the pegboard keeps stuff out in the open so I can easily see what I have available when I am trying to piece together a scene. It also helps me keep track of the stuff I have, so I don't mistakenly buy another one.

    The Walthers grain bins will go together seamlessly if you take the time to prep the parts well before assembly: 10:40. I have several on my layout and they look smooth and circular. As I recall there is some flash on the backside(s) of the individual curved pieces, and the connecting tabs need to be massaged a bit to get the sections to join up flawlessly with the next successive piece, but it can be done with fine results. Give the product another try.

    Hey I just watched your RUclips layout tour Video. Looks great!
    As for your Walthers Grain bins…I have found the best results using these spring clamps…do your first ring…then the next rings do all but the last joint and let the ring sections dry.
    Then connect the rings together and push down and spring clamp the joints. I use the Tenex cement to make the ring sections and use the needle master model cement to joint the sections
    I also messaged you this and some pictures from The Eastern Dakota and Wilkin on your Instagram messages that shows the small clamps

    • @modeltrains_365
      @modeltrains_365  Год назад +1

      I have one NCE AR-10 and one DCC Specialties PSX-AR. I'd have to say the NCE has proven to be more reliable and hasn't caused many problems in recent memory. The PSX is more likely to trigger when locos are entering/exiting, but I have recently raised the trip current above the recommended value and that seems to help. Having "keep alive" (especially TCS) devices also seems to alleviate any problems at all as the locos just continue through the momentary loss of track power.

  • @GooseinTheCabooseProductions
    @GooseinTheCabooseProductions Год назад +1

    Very nice. Just curious but I would think a double decker design with a basically doable in your basement and gotten a little more bang for your buck as far as Main Line run and staging yard capacity.

    • @dexterdog62
      @dexterdog62 Год назад

      Geez, the layout’s big enough as it is! Another deck is really not necessary.

    • @GooseinTheCabooseProductions
      @GooseinTheCabooseProductions Год назад

      @@dexterdog62 Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how accurately you're trying to model a prototype for just if you have the room on a single deck for all the scenes you want to include.

    • @modeltrains_365
      @modeltrains_365  Год назад +1

      Trust me, I want more for sure. But there are several reasons I opted to not do a double decker. My next layout will hopefully be a mushroom design.
      1. I don't care at all for helixes.
      2. I wanted a higher layout, closer to eye level. Hard to find a happy medium with multiple decks.
      3. I didn't plan for this layout to be my 'forever' one, so trying to limit the amount of work I put in to it.
      4. I would rather run trains than take an extended amount of time to complete benchwork, etc. (see above).
      5. I don't like seeing the underside of benchwork of the upper deck.
      6. Lighting on a double decker seemed like it would be a pain.

    • @GooseinTheCabooseProductions
      @GooseinTheCabooseProductions Год назад

      @@modeltrains_365 so part of the answer to your number five and number six are varying the bench work depth so that you adjust your perspective so your eye doesn't see it. Pick up a copy of Tony koster's book on double deck railroads he has some pretty good stuff in there on those last two. That being said though, this is supposed to be a practice layout then a mushroom concept is about the best cubic use of space available anyways so yeah, I see your point. Especially like you said, this is a practice layout. Just saying, but you seen me Works outstanding what you have of it so far.
