Yes… definitely one imp thing as I get older is I’m done fantasizing myself in pieces. I see my own lifestyle and make sure I only buy pieces that I would truly wear although it may have looked like a dream on someone.
Also doing low buy months or a year if you have the will can feel better at times.
Deleting fashion apps, unsubscribing to clothing emails, putting a hold on your IG account and following influencers.. are equally important. Over exposure to social media and continually seeing new buys can make a big hole in one’s pocket and making wasteful purchases. Instead of buying 10 white shirts… I prefer to invest in one pretty floral dress that can see me through Spring and Summer!
It’s definitely a sound advice coming from a You Tuber! ❤
And let’s remember kindness to Mother Nature. What goes around, comes around. Cycle of life!
Lovely comment and great advice! Going to try a low buy / no buy month xxx
In my experience, vision boards didn't help at all because they created a false expectation on how clothes would fit on my body, and most of the items I was interested in didn't suit my body type. It is still a good idea tho, just remember that models might have a different body shape from yours and it's fine
Very good point. I think the best thing is always going and trying things on and figuring it out slowly x
Ughhh it’s so disheartening
This is very important to be HONEST about our body shape. No, this is NOT a body shaming statement. Sometimes people miscategorize their body shape (ex: they think that they’re an apple but they’re really an inverted triangle) or they try to get things that don’t suit their body shape to “work”. Knowing your correct body shape is a game changer with saving money on clothing because you’ll pick things that suit your body shape and make you look great.
I am in low buy year however the quality of clothes is really decreasing. Last year during sales, I purchased a sweater from lLacoste about 105 Euros. I professionally washed it like most of my clothes ( 4 Euros each time) and it’s pilling. A cotton and very informal sweater. I used so little because I have so much stuff. I just can’t believe it. I stopped buying from Mango because of the pilling but I paid 39.90 on a “ wool sweater “…I unsubscribed from so many stores to avoid temptation. In conclusion, companies are decreasing the quality. I think they are using new products to make clothes like plastic and we are paying for their new tests; I think they are tasting the quality on us!
It’s such a shame as the long term affects of diminishing quality will be horrendous. However if more people ‘unsubscribe’ to low quality product and support the brands that are producing true quality, hopefully this could shift us back on track. Great to hear there are people like you making an effort to not over consume and focus on quality. Let us know how the no but year goes!! 💖
Agreed all brands are lowering quality including luxury brands, nowadays things just aren’t made to last
Pilling is normal at wool because it's a natural fiber and does not mean it's a bad quality. you have to revove the pilling with e.g. a lint shaver. it will barely come back.
@@Miekeee123 The Lacoste sweatshirt is 100% cotton. The “ wool” one from Mangi said 35% and other names that plain simple is plastic. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My point was that things are not lasting as before.
Piling is normal though dependent on the fabric. Obviously it shouldn't pile too much or too often. I personally have paid £250-700 for my cashmere jumpers and they rarely pile but they still do very very little because that's normal. You have to maintain them. Maybe also don't take them to professional cleaners, you dk how they're cleaning it esp if its wool or cashmere!! It could be how your'e caring for them more than the quality of them. But cotton shouldn't be piling lol. You can't buy quality if what you buy contains polyester or plastics. Maybe only 5% elastane for cotton, but really not much more. The cheapest semi-natural fabric you can buy it REALLY good quality Viscose.
Nice content! :)
Another tip: I love the experience of trying new things/outfits; one can have that without purchasing items. Whenever I put something on that I like, I take a photo in the mirror instead of instantly buying. it. Usually, after a week I don't feel anymore like I missed something by not having bought it. But, if I regularly look at the photo, liking what I see, I return to the shop and buy it. In order for this to work: don't make a nice pose when taking the photo; just stand normal like you would on a normal occasion. You're basically testing: Does the _magic_ originate from the moment and the current shopping high *or* is it actually a _magical_ piece?
Wow such a good tip! Never thought to do this with the ‘normal’ pose. I am going to do this 100% x
OOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFT! The point on fantasy shopping, I feel so attacked and seen at the same time!!!!!!
we ALL do it hahahah
OMG yesss!!! finally someone understand, all i see they all become minimalist shopper and im not. so ur vid absolutely perfect
So so glad you get what I mean!! Hahaha thank you 💖💖
can we see a wardrobe tour next? just to get a better idea of how you're building your closet!
Of courseee, next video is a wardrobe clear out but it’s more the items that don’t fit into my wardrobe vision. But can film a wardrobe tour for sure xx
I have my “rough n tumble” clothes (cotton knits, casual t-shirts, leggings, workout wear, etc.) that I don’t mind running through the washing machine and dryer, but if it’s something much nicer, I will take the time to hand wash.
That’s a good tip. It’s great to have pieces you you really treasure! X
I am so so agree with you.. l love fashion too. And this year is my low buyer clothes but l love all l have in my wardrobe and try to mix and match them am not minimalist becoz fashion is like an art for me just try to be wise to spend more money for clothes. I love your channel❤

For guys, its probably a little easier because our clothes are very basic. Aside from the obvious tip of not following trends, buy clothes that actually fit. I lost around 50lbs a couple years ago, and I still have yet to fully replace all of my oversized clothes. If you don't have clothes that really fit you, go to any clothing store with a changing room, bring a tape measure, and measure the stuff that fits you so that you can always buy with confidence. Things like pants can be tailored, so don't worry about the length and width of the legs too much, just make sure the waist stays up without needing a belt and there's enough room for the boys. Went into the thrift store last week and grabbed 4 items - shorts, pants, t shirt, long sleeve t shirt. Cost me $15 and they all fit perfectly when I tried them on at home because I measured them at the store. The pants just need to be hemmed and tapered to my liking. Understand your core preferences and your fit, and it should be easy to only buy what you actually need.
Thanks for bringing a males perspective. Super interesting! X
I love sewing clothes from natural fabrics like linen and cotton. I get some fabulous pieces that cost much less. Not sure that I can sell some of these used pieces.
The pieces I see on Instagram or Pinterest, I cannot recreate or don't look good in because of different body shape and size. 😢😅 these days I just go for basics and a few small items with a pop of color or design for the special days.
You have to remember insta photos are perfectly posed. Even the person wearing the outfit wouldn’t look exactly like that in real life. But sounds like you have found what works for you. I’ll be releasing a video on a wardrobe and outfit formula in the coming week which could also be useful xxx
What terrific advice! I get angry at myself for spending so much money on junk! I’ve been much better in 2024 but I still have work to do. 😊
Thank you! Sounds like you are making progress though!!
So useful!
Thank you!
Great timing I have so many dresses which I wear once and buy new dresses 😂😭but idk i needed to stop buying and wear them more often and save me some money ❤ 💰 being a girl is hard 😢

From a none copyright site and chose a jazz track xx
Where is your white blouse from…please link if possible. Otherwise, what brand is it?
It’s from COAST xxx
Went berserk buying clothes recently. 🤮it really makes me feel sick to c so much.
Retail with so many new clothes just feels so old fashioned now in a way! Not even enjoyable to browse!!!
Your top is lovely where is it from?😍
Thank you!!! It’s from COAST XXX
Ihope i can.
😂

Sorry, I won't be a minimalist when it comes to wardrobe. I'm only young once and I want to wear nice clothes. I'll be a minimalist when I'm 65 years old and my body is no longer in good shape.
Each to their own 🔥
Each to their own haha xx
I don't think anyone gives a damn what you do so no need to apologise, no one is trying to get you to do anything. You are the one that came to this video and got triggered.
@@Satsusss😂😂😂😂
Make sure that you buy excellent quality, so your 65 year old self can also enjoy the clothes. I spent my youth wasting my money on cheap crap and am kicking myself now. I could have been collecting great stuff all this time!
this is so helpful!!
Thank you!! X
