    Tip for fall. When your greenhouse has produced and it's at it's end? Let your chickens go crazy in your greenhouse. They will tear it all up and finish everything off and its really fun and exciting for the chickens!❤

    Let's call this advice and not a warning: the plastic walls of the greenhouse simply can't stand against the power they are being asked to resist. Think of the Three Little Pigs. Think of the sails on a ship. Your greenhouse walls will act like sails until the plastic rips or the greenhouse breaks. The wind will win. The solution is to leave gaps or overlaps where a strong wind (but not a soft one) can blow through. Makers of large vinyl signs create little circular flaps for this very purpose. You're clever. You'll find a way.

  • @RJ-er3gv
    @RJ-er3gv Год назад +16

    The way you rolled that bottom plastic water is going to collect in it and rust the steel. It should have been reverse rolled for water to shed. You may want to consider some cross bracing using some steel cables for when the wind really blows.

    You need to plant 2 mangosteens trees so you can have as many as you want.
    You need to always plant at least 2 of each fruit trees for cross pollination. It can be different verities of the same kind of fruit. (Like Granny Smith apples and Red delicious apples for instants ) they are 2 different varieties but both are apple trees.
    I realized you guys are growing coffee on your farm, but grow some fruit trees along with your vegetables and you will truly be self sustaining.
    When Sadie says, " Mom I'm hungry, can I have a snack?"
    You can say, " Yes baby go ahead and pick something off the trees.

    I have blue, green & multi-color twinkly lights in my apt. It's so relaxing to put them on at night. Plus, in the south, when there's going to be a freeze, they tell you to put the lights on your plants & cover them. Playing make believe is very healthy for children. It's what we did growing up. TV watching was minimal. We played outside & made forts, igloos, climbed trees, pretended we were pilgrims, etc. I love the way you're raising her!

  • @mattporter2618
    @mattporter2618 Год назад +4

    Just a thought about the plastic on the greenhouse…since you rolled that bottom beam outwards, won’t water get in between and pool? If you rolled it inwards, the gap would not be exposed.

  • @mkllove
    @mkllove Год назад +1

    Jordan, the point loads on the plastic will be the crack or tear that causes it to fail... you can prevent that by rounding all edges, and using a bonding agent/adhesive to spread loads as much as possible to the structural frames... For future use, I'd suggest your making individual made panels to fit inside the structure you've built already, but make them pivot on a vertical axis at top and bottom so they can be removed and/or rotated as needed to repair, or in higher winds, to prevent damage by letting the pressure blow them open or pivot as louvers vs doors on some bungees or springs ?
    Kaylee.. Can the Mangosteens be dehydrated in your climate, or maybe in the oven for extending their availability ? Another option would be to juice them and freeze that, or make into pops or ice cream perhaps ? Bet you'll have fun trying both ideas out ! ( I hope )

    This looks terrific. If I could give a little advice, it would be to make sure you rotate your crops inside the greenhouse. For example, if you grow tomatoes in the same soil year after year, soil borne diseases will remain behind in the soil at the end of the year and infect your plants the following year. A four year rotation is optimal but I know people who are doing a three year rotation successfully. Just divide the greenhouse into quarters and rotate every year into a new quarter. You can read about crop rotation online. Good luck - you folks deserve it!

    Your greenhouse is awesome. You might consider blocking growing beds so you raise them to be deeper, and contained. Then you can use straw or wood chips, etc... to make walkway paths and keep weeds out. It will help you to grow vertically and have much more produce in the amount of space you have. You need to get rid of all the grubs. They will kill everything at the root. Feed them live to the chickens. Those mice are going to eat everything in sight so you have to deal with them too. You might want to look into some of the self-watering planting containers to reduce your workload and have the opportunity to grow more in less space. Look up planting containers with Leon on RUclips. Can't wait to see what you cook with all your new veggies.

    Definitely need l.e.d. lighting in the greenhouse, (maybe not flashing/blinking though..). Thinking you just need to add a rain barrel or two up at the green house for watering. I'm working on my wife's greenhouse right now, (in between other "projects"...lol). I'd love the weather down there as well. Here in Washington State, we have a joke that, "if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes...it'll change". We have had thunder, lightning, rain, hail, sunshine, and even a small tornado all in 1 day! Thanks for continually sharing your lives with us!

    Your composted manure is likely mainly nitrogen which is great for leafy greens. Flowering and fruiting plants rely more on phosphorus. Just not too much. If your tomatoes, peppers ..etc. get really leafy but don’t produce fruit well, it’s that nitrogen phosphorus balance..

    Bobby saying "Twinkling lights are dope" was so cute!
    You two are adorable and so amazing with Sadie! Keep up the fun and teaching. She is having the best life!
    (Going way back to the video when you burned your hand... I failed to comment... Put mustard on any burns. It works miracles. 😊

    Oh gosh the dogs and the drone😂😂😂. Oh gosh That bread!!! Oh gosh, seeds get a better start in a seedling tray,(little 1 inch pots filled with seed starter mix, and don't put into ground until they have their true leaves, which are about the second, or third layer of leaves up the plant)

    Try wrapping copper wire around twigs leaving a little spike at the top making an entenna, I’ve tried this and it increases the growth of uour plants by harnessing energy from the atmosphere ❤️

    You guys are wonderful. Full of life and so loving of yourselves, Sadie, Rod and Henrique you all make such a great team and farm family. Glad to see that the Greenhouse 2.0 is coming along well in spite of the windy weather. Loved the reaction of the dogs to the drone. Jordan it may be repetitive work but you learn by trial and error. Thanks for the midweek update and until the next time be safe and blessed. Ciao!

    I absolutely just LOVE you guys!!! You’re SO real and live your lives YOUR way.. not many people do. You have so very much to be proud of yourselves for. You are teaching your beautiful Sadie that there are no failures, just things that didn’t work the first try. We ALL learn best by doing things ourselves and it not working. I truly admire your spirit and outlook on life!!! You are a WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL young family that knows what’s important in life… family, friends, health and kindness and are willing to “fail” in the public eye, laugh about it and try again and again until it works because you have a goal. YOU are AWESOME examples of what anyone can achieve if they are willing to work hard!! 👍👍💕
