    I’ve had mine since the day it was released…I love it still!
    Some tips: You can open it up and easily make the tailwheel steerable. Just put in a swivel wheel and link it to the rudder control rod. It makes ground handling so much better! It will fly well with a 500mah lipo and longer. (600mah starts to get too heavy.). it flies best in calm winds, just underpowered for any breeze. And don’t break any props, one side is impossible to find…I forget if it was the right side or left side, but I remember one side props are unobtanium. Also Remote ID does not apply to any plane under 255g. Any RC plane or drone under 255g is exempt from ANY FAA regulations or restrictions.

      Whoops…I see you addressed the 255g exemption and are aware of it….Sorry, I was distracted when watching your video.

      Oh yes! Talking about flying my planes that are over 250 Grams, and thank you I will try that!

      Remote ID is not in effect yet. No one likes it either, but I wonder who has the money and lobbied for a law that no one asked.

      @@monchichis333 Amazon, Dominoes, and other mega corporations got together and formed the American Drone Alliance (ADA). With their bottomless deep pockets they relentlessly lobbied Congress and the FAA to put restrictions on who can fly drones. Why? Because they feel that in the future they will deliver pizzas and toilet paper to your house via drone, and they wanted to own the sky under 400ft. The problem was they called any remote controlled air vehicle a drone, so a hobby plane flown in the line of sight got lumped in with a high end drone that could be flown miles away. The AMA lobbied hard for exceptions but lost because they were spending all their money made off members building their dream museum and private airfield. Eventually a compromise came about involving flying under 400ft…..250g. Exemption, and Part 107 which is an exemption for hobby flyers vs. commercial drone fliers. Commercial drone photography is becoming a massive industry and that requires more steps to be legal. Remote ID is only required if flying anywhere but a sanctioned Air Field. An FAA sanctioned air field is already recognized as a legitimate flying space, but those fields have to keep up their certification, and if it lapses, they can’t renew and the field closes. So FAA would love nothing more than to see RC planes go away so they can own all the sky and get more lobby money from Amazon. And if you look it up, the FAA controls every inch of air space, including 6 inches off the ground in your own front yard! I got off the crazy merry go round and now only fly 250g and under planes in my yard. I gave away most of my larger planes to benefit the club I used to belong to. I’d still go fly at my club field, but it’s a long drive, and I’m just exhausted after packing the car and driving/unpacking, etc. Just became a hassle.

    They are a bit tail heavy with the stock battery. Also, I don't think the UMX B 17 has SAFE. AS3x, yes, but not SAFE.
    Great save(s) on that take off!

    Still got mine, in fact next to me now. I found that 250mah battery is too light and tail heavy, which is odd, though using a 500mah 1s lipo balances spot on and gives much longer flight time also halving the load on the battery, making it last longer, both flight time and life span.

    The desire to build and fly an aircraft from the past like this B-17 doesn't always mean that the design works as a good RC flyer. Your ability to get it off the ground was a great catch. Without a doubt, I would have crashed and burned on that take-off. There is no question that an RC of this nature really doesn't like wind at all. I did have a question for you, how good is safe mode on your RC?

    • @OurRCLife
      @OurRCLife  6 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty good! It depends which airplane you are flying as Horizon Hobby Vs. FMS and other brands all have similar technology but overall great! Still figuring out safe mode for certain aircraft with my Spectrum transmitter here and there but that is my best possible answer right now! - Alex

      I was using full throttle, the batteries that came with were not too powerful so I got some stronger batteries now! This thing needs all the power it can get!
