Greetings from the swamps of Louisiana! Have you ever thought about mini LED lights on the inside of the tree or string them around the tree? You are giving me something to tinker with. Keep on keeping on. God bless and keep you safe.
I have seen those quite a bit. They look nice.
I appreciate the support!
I just found your channel and I work with recycled wood, mostly Pallet wood. Here on the "Big Island of Hawaii" the pallet slats are 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches wide and 40 inches long. And the best part is they are FREE for the taking! That means No charge for material!!!.
That's great you can get free materials. Good luck with your builds.
My husband is going to make some of these, you had a great video, clear instructions, paint them green and make the jig this will really help in assembling them. Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
I'm glad the videos will help. Thank you so much for your support!
Hello Andy, the right man at the right time! Thank you for your super relaxed explanation and approach! The whole thing is really a great project for beginners and professionals! Please keep it up 👍🏼
Thank you very much for the feedback and your support.
Love these Andy. Thanks for explaining so well.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm working on the quality of my voice overs currently. I appreciate the support.
I think some distressed white would be great!
The farmhouse look is a great seller right now. good choice!
My son and I spent the morning dismantling some 20 yr old fence picket panels. In the plans of making these trees. I’ll be sanding them next and thinking about doing a white wash & gray wash stains on them. They will end up being Christmas gifts for his aid, teacher and staff at his high school and some family members
Great video and easy to follow along
That sounds like some good family bonding time. I really enjoy using fence pickets. The white wash look on these is a very nice look. I appreciate the support.
Green! I’ve made several of these. They’re fun and easy to do. I’ve varied the size and like the idea of arranging them in threes of bating size. I’ve seen a video on RUclips that uses a jig to make assembly fast and easy. Like your video!
I did also make a video on setting up a jig for them. Different sizes do help them become more interesting.
ruclips.net/video/XpnKcEfmJrE/видео.html&ab_channel=CedarRiverWoodworking
I get 10 out of a 6 ft, 1x12. I made the pieces 2-1/2" wide and I used a mitered top so all of the "side" pieces are the same length (easier to batch out without thinking). I did it all on my table saw with a miter gauge.
I am painting mine green, red and dark red and 2 different stain colors, cherry and chestnut.
I'm also offering some with the cup hook, for an ornament, and some with fairy lights attached to the back, as well as some with different styles of candle holders with LED tea lights.
I saw your video on making the jig and yes, having the jig makes assembling them much easier. I don't use any nails though. It's all glue. It takes a little longer as I have to wait an extra 5-10 minutes for the glue to tack up before I can take it out of the jig, but they are solid and I don't need to fill any nail holes (which ends up being a time trade off in the end).
I always appreciate reading the different ways that people can make things. It sounds like you have some great experience with these. Thank you for your support.
@@cedarriverwoodworking I saw a post in a Facebook group that showed the measurements. Through some trail and error, I was able to find the perfect proportions that would yield 10 trees from a 1x12. I had never even seen these before this year. Experience? No. Perseverance? You betcha.
@@awlthatwoodcrafts8911 Keep it up! sounds like you're crushing it!
Love the trees-love the video! Thank you for the detailed explanation!!
Thank you very much.
Excellent video. Thank you and Merry Christmas. Your gift of this is appreciated.
Thank you very much for the kind words, and I appreciate your support.
The sales tips are golden!!
Thank you!
Made several of these last year. The assembly jig created ease in assembly.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I'm glad that you liked them.
Stay with Red and Green.
Hi Andy,
Looks like a great project, and your template follow-up was also excellent.
I am trying go figure out a way to sell a bunch of these and a few other items before the holiday. I like the fence picket.
Thank for this great info.
Stay safe,
Steven
The fence picket works really well for them. They have a bit more of a rustic feel. I have another video coming out on some very simple trees that took about 5 min to produce and a super simple sled to make them.
I appreciate the support.
What a great IDEA! Colors seem to be more natural and soft Primary colors
I love them with a natural wood look to them.
Green, red, white and I think natural would be pretty cool. With the shelves they would be great for collectable ornaments.
All great options. I like them natural.
So adorable. I'd make them green or white, probably.
I haven't made many in white, but they are extremely cute in that color. Great choice.
I would make them bigger with shelves to display special ornaments or family christmas heirlooms. Thank you for the great narrative for beginners.
I do have a video to make larger ones.
Sage with a frosted white glaze would be my decor taste. These are brilliant. Nice tutorial.
OOOO that sounds pretty fancy! I like it. Thank you for your support.
Stain them in a traditional wood stain or white wash with watered down pain would be gorgeous… or watered down green paint. The watered down pain would still allow the wood grain to show through.
All great options. They look great with a white wash.
Awesome vid!! Super clear instructions! TY! 😀
Thank you so much! I am working on making the voice overs flow more smoothly and the videos a bit more entertaining. I appreciate the support.
I have seen these before, your video is the best I've seen. Love these. I plan to use fairy lights
Thanks for the love. I did glue on some dollar store lights. they look amazing with them.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and measurements. I love these trees. I’ll probably stain mine or paint white. I am planning to add an ornament or nativity to the center of mine.
I love the natural stain look on these.
Before seeing your video I made a couple of trees from another video. I like yours a little better because you show a good way to put them together. I have also seen your video on making a jig for quick assembly. I think that is great. I have used a green stain and barn red stain. Both did good for color and showing grain.
Glad I could help. Thank you for your support.
Stain. Good idea.
Fine silver glitter on one, then red fine on one, and fine green one. Great video as always!
Thank you so much for your support.
Love this project! Thank you. Red, green, silver or gold.
Those are all great colors. Thank you for your support.
Hey Andy, This was a great video because you did such an excellent explaining the steps of construction. Of course, like most people I first thought of painting the trees red and green.
I think that I'd paint one red and one green and sell them as a pair.
In my family, there are several 'sports nuts' so I think that I will paint some of these trees in team colors (Dodgers, Notre Dame, UCLA, USC, UCONN, Lakers, Clippers, Blue Jays, Anaheim Ducks, etc.) I'm also thinking about hanging a personalized glass Christmas ball from the apex of the tree. It's easy to personalize these balls with a paint pen and the balls are available from The Dollar Tree discount store.
Thanks for the video.
Those are all great ideas! they sell great as pairs and even better when you personalize them. I've seen you comment on a couple of my videos. I appreciate the continued support.
You are very welcome, Andy. I am excited about your channel, because you build simple projects using fairly simple tools and you do such a good job of explaining the build. Keep on building!
@@pteddie6965 Again thank you. I do make more complicated things that you can see on Facebook, but I'm really liking these simple builds for RUclips.
Thank you for such an informational video!!
Thank you and I appreciate the support.
Great idea Andy for the holidays!
Thank you. I appreciate the support.
RED is the color I would paint. Although my son says it’s wrong. That they need to be green. Great little project. I watched the jig video first. These will be much easier with that.
Added bonus. I have lots of 1x4 scraps that are short cut offs not great for too many things. But they will be perfect for this. And they were free! Gonna have to try to make some of these tonight.
Thank you again for your support. That's great that you'll be able to use some scraps to do these projects. Looks like you may need to make some red AND green ones.
Green, red, White, layered, and fun.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your support.
Good job thx for sharing enjoyed it green color
Glad you enjoyed the video and colors.
those look really good!!
Thank you very much.
Add a board across the tree rungs. Now you have shelves and can be used to hang on the wall for small items like photos.
Absolutely! It's a great option.
I enjoy watching this It has gave me alot of ideas Putting 1 in each window with a candle or with little lights ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed them that much! Thank you for the support.
I would paint a few a deep green. Thank you for sharing!
The greens and reds do look great on them. I prefer a natural stain on mine. Thank you. I appreciate your support.
Great creation! If any change - I would have the base larger/thicker like the figure of the tree was sitting in a pot.
I like that suggestion. Are you saying having a double thick base piece?
I love your bloopers at the end. Great project. Thanks for sharing
I need to get back to adding those! I have so many. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
It may sound odd, but I've found projects like these help me to keep my shop clean. When I have scraps left from one project, I cut them to be useful for a different project and label that box. For instance a box of tree bases, a box of top left, a box of top right, and so on. It speeds up production when I get to the next project on my list. I don't have to search for material or set up cuts. I like your trees and am motivated by your video to do a few.
That is a great way to stay organized. I use 5 gallon buckets with all the parts that i need when building Adirondack chairs.
@@cedarriverwoodworkinggreat vid and great 5gal bucket idea. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@timlarson7228 I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I appreciate your support.
اتمنا أن توضع مقدار الزاويه القص
@@adnansharayha1081 They are 30* angles.
The colors I would use would be red, gold, green, and silver. Another option would be to mix colors on each tree. 4:15 Keep your fingers away from the path of your brad nails. I can't tell you how many times I have had brads pop out of the side of the piece I was working on.
I have been stabbed by them before. It is not a fun time. I've learned good lessons about depth control and brad lengths since then. Great tip, safety should always be a priority.
I have cut five sets and have 3 sets completed. I used fence pickets and cut them 11/4 inch wide. I am enjoying your videos! Thanks for clear and precise directions, that makes ALL the difference!
I'm glad you enjoy the videos and I appreciate your support.
Sage - No question but I did watch all the way through. Your trees are beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate the support and sticking around until the end.
Ah so that’s how you make them. Very clear video.
We just want to make a few for our home.
Many thanks!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video.
So many ideas for Christmas time......If time allows, I might try to make a few of these.
We still have a couple months before Christmas. I'm sure you can get quite a few knocked out.
@@cedarriverwoodworking I'm going to get some wood this week.....maybe I''ll add a few pieces of pine to my list
Very very cool
Thank you.
Awesome
Thank you.
Stain, and thank you for the video!! Girls night project!! ❤
Thank you for your support. You'll have to let me know how they turn out.
Hello, Andy ... your projects are beautiful... congratulations !
I'll try to make one of this.
Have a great weekend
👊😉
Thanks, you too!
All colors!!
Rainbow trees.
I'm partial to the wood color. Red and green or even gold with some distress would be nice!
Being a woodworker, I prefer the natural wood look too. Distressed has been selling really well though too.
I quickly attempted one the other night using pallet wood but with a 45 cut on the top. So it was abit more pointy. I think I would stain dark brown and maybe paint some green ones
How did the 45* cuts turn out?
@@cedarriverwoodworking I did 30 for all the sides and then 45 on the top point. Doesn’t look too bad, there’s a picture on my IG if you wanted to see.
@@fromthepalletshed I'll check it out. I need to make an IG anyways.
I sell mine for the same price but, I put lights on mine. I also sell them at any color. A great video as well.
Thank you! They really do look good with lights on them. Glad you're having success.
What do you sell for
Great idea, Just subscribed!
Thank you for your support.
This is the first time I’ve seen your video. Love it
Glad you enjoyed it!
I made my first two last night. We added LED lights to our small one and it came out cool. I made a 3 foot one for out side out of 2x4's. Thanks for the video.
I'm glad you enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
Can you share a picture?
Hi, thanks for the great instructional video!! I think I'd paint some green and stain some, as well as green!! These are awesome!! Thanks again!!
Thank you for your support. They look great painted or stained.
I like green trees and colored lights or maybe some with white for snow
colored lights on a white tree is a very cool look.
My paint scheme will be to paint them forest green, then apply a white stencil over that. The stencil that I will use will be to paint a Leland cypress with white spray paint, then touch each outside of each tier to simulate a snowy effect.
Sounds fancy! I like it.
WOW! I ACTUALLY MADE ONE AND IT CAME OUT GREAT!@!@! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
THAT WAS FUN! I'M SO EXCITED TO STAIN THEM WITH HOMEMADE VINEGAR & RUSTY NAIL STAIN THEN BURN THE EDGES A LITTLE MAYBE? I'M GONNA GO START ANOTHER ONE WHILE I STILL HAVE DAYLIGHT! I'M GONNA DO A "NATURAL" WOOD WITH POLY THIS TIME. THANKS AGAIN FOR SHARING AND NOT CHARGING FOR YOUR PLANS. YOU'RE A NICE PERSON. HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate the support.
Finialy, someone knows what a stop block is. Measurements, hands on demonstration and audio instructions, what a wonderful change , you have a new subscriber, thanks for a great project.
I appreciate the feedback and the support. I hope to see you around again.
I made some with padauk, white oak and maple.
And they look beautiful.
Those would be beautiful. I would charge more for those.
I like the red tree you was holding
They do look sharp when painted sometimes.
Thanks for sharing. I would do green or a dark walnut stain. Cannot wait to watch the template one to make more faster. Cannot wait to make these
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate the support. You'll have to let me know how they turn out.
@@cedarriverwoodworking turning out alright so far. Just have to put them together
@@wwoodsanddesigns I hope they turned out well for you.
Paint the trees solid white,, red,, and green,,,, Then sprinkle them with white n silver glitter!
Great Job!! Thank You, hopefully my son and i can make a few of these for his school craft fair project! :-)
These would make for a great family craft project! I love it. Thank you for the support.
I would do white and stained and green, but not sure what shade. Great explanation, thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate the support.
Orange. To be different! Great video. 🇬🇧
I like the thought of being different
I love them ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
I torched mine sanded it back with scotch pad cane out really well
It's really cool seeing all the different variations that people have made of these. Thanks for sharing.
That was a great projet thaks for the videor

Great video thank you from the other side of the pond 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's very cool to see these videos reach so far. Thank you for your support.
Excellent job very impressed, I think they’d sell in England. I wish I’d seen you video earlier
Thank you for your support. You still have plenty of time to make some.
Green, Red, Silver, Gold, and White all seem like they make sense to use.
I like all the suggestions.
Nice idea ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Colors; Red, Green,White, Stained, Natural. And think pre-drilling for eye-hook-screws for wires to hang little ornaments, or an LED light strand in the center, around the perimeter. Giving the buyer a picture of what can be done with these little trees makes them more valuable to some.
These do look great with an ornament hanging in the middle. Great suggestions.
red white and blue with a star on top
I like the theme.
Nice. New sub.😀
Thanks for your support.
White, red and green
All great classic colors.
Forrest green and stain love it sending to my husband
Great colors.
Red and green
Good choices.
Red and green are traditional. I do like white, but I would stain them as well.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video.
I would paint them red!!!
Great video! I have watched numerous videos on different projects such as this and I don't recall any of them showing the nail holes being filled. Did you fill the holes before you painted them? Thank you for the ideas! I may get a fence picket here soon and try some out.
I do not fill the holes. for a more professional look you could try and clamp them, but for the most part the nail holes don't detract from the overall look of the trees.
Thank you❤
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for doing this video step by step. I am a beginner at woodworking, and these trees are all over FB. I thought I may give it a try. What about putting another side to it and putting a wood platform or a plate for cookies on the layers?
So laying it flat?
Hardwood and lacquer with no stain
I like the natural trees.
Red white and blue
I see your theme, and I like it!

The UnknownManCub 👍😎👨🏭
Green with white snow world be cool.
That WOULD be very cool.
Hey Andy! I would paint some of these white, some sage green, but would also stain some a dark brown like walnut or jacobean. I love how these look and have a couple of questions. First, what can I use if I don’t have a stop block? Second, how will I know which side is the shoulder of the cut? Also, how far from the point of the 30 degree angle are you placing the boards when constructing the tree? Is there a way to mark the board for all the cuts before cutting them? Thanks so much for all your help! 🌲
Great questions. If you dont have a clamp and a scrap piece to use for a stop block, you can mark every cut. The "shoulder" is the non point side. I mention how much overlap I use when assembling during the assembly portion. You can pre mark everything but you will need to add 1/8th of an inch to most of the cuts to account for the width of the blade on your saw.
Gunna do green as a base for the trees. Wondering if you've made sets of 3 that fit inside of each other. I might try that, thanks for the vid
I have but don't have exact measurements for it.
Color: natural and green - make a mini forest.
I love the idea.
Nice job! How much do you overlap them? I see your lines, but you don't say how much to overlap the pieces.
It's 1" from the tip of the cut. line that up with the short side of the next slat. as I call it the "shoulder".
I would not paint, but sell it raw so others can as they want. My second tree i changed the angle to 35 and love the sharpness of the angles (the bottom piece remains 30 FYI)
I like the change. I'll give it a try soon.
What part are you referring to as the bottom? Thank you
I would paint them green or give the option to leave natural. Some people, like me, like to put their own touch into things like this. I am in my 60's and am just getting interested in working with wood. Do you have VERY basic videos about using these machines? My husband makes me so nervous that I'm going to cut my arm off. But he knows only a spit more than i do! Great video.
I can absolutely make some videos including those aspects. I want this channel to be friendly to beginners and encourage them to advance their woodworking.
i would like to stain them, three different stains, which ones would sell better stained or painted?
I have a mixture that sell. Mostly the painted ones sell for me the best.
If I make my top piece
Lap 1” it pulls my joints apart. I made my top 2” and it works better and keeps joins tight
I will have to double check this. Thanks for letting me know.
Red and green. Or maybe even red and white candy cane style...
The stripe one sounds like it would be really cool.
I would use black red and green for colors
3 different trees? Or all the colors on one tree?
@@cedarriverwoodworking 3 different trees
I would do candy cane. Straight and swirly.
I like it. That's a unique one. I would love to see it if you do them that way.
