@D-bomb From my experience, you need a different hardware ID, so you'll need to buy a different webcam for the second camera. That goes for capture cards as well.
4 years later and this is still helping people. I bought my camera two years ago for cheap, lol. After downloading OBS and doing what you said, it's amazing the difference. Thank you!
Holy crap this was massive for me! Looks so much better now. Also the video felt like a speedrun in comparison to other videos I've watched. Excellent advice delivered in a speedy manner.
Steps: Custom resolution 1920 FPS 30 Configure Video Turn off all of the AUTO settings. Focus - probably all the way to the left. Exposure set to (-5) Turn the gain all the way down Click Apply Close out of settings menu (ok) Switch FPS from 30 to "highest FPS" Configure Video (exposure may need to be corrected) Turn gain all the way down (It might not have moved) Slowly turn gain up until exposure is correct Adjust White balance until correct. Tips: Gain as low as possible. Should be lower than 100. If it is higher you need to change the exposure to correct this. -if gain less than 100, and exposure at -5, while it is still to dark, then it means you need more lighting. Settings will not solve bad lighting. Settings may not be saved when OBS is closed and reopened.
BRO! If there were futuristic magicians in the present, you would definitive be one of them... OMG this is the ultimate trick to finally get this camera looks actually good!! thank you so much !!
2 years later this video is still useful for this webcam i had so much trouble adjusting this camera to show my RGB lighting on my hyper x mic and even the design on my shirts !!!!
Thanks so much for this. I’ve tried multiple RUclips suggestions and none of them worked as I had hoped. This technique works! It actually works!!! Everyone who uses this webcam needs to follow this tutorial. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for this video! Even that one single tip about turning down the gain made my stream look so much better! I'v been looking for a solution for ever, and today I found this. Thank you again, you made my day!
The settings aren't forgotten or stored by OBS because OBS has no access to or awareness of the settings, they're in a driver dialogue rather than in OBS. Ideally, the hardware would save the settings in the EEPROM, but it doesn't. Somewhat less ideally, the driver would save the settings via a filter driver, but it doesn't foresee that. As it is, the settings are retained as long as the camera is connected to the computer. When the computer is powered down, the settings are gone. When the computer is restarted, the settings should usually be gone, because USB devices are briefly disconnected and reset during this time. When the computer goes to sleep, the settings might be gone too, i forget. There is a recent feature now in Logitech G-Hub, that when you fiddle with the settings from there (rather than from OBS), it might be kind enough to save them and restore them when the camera is connected next time or on next reboot, if the G-Hub is also running then. I think i briefly tested it and it seemed to work, but i hear some people complain of all manner of G-Hub issues related to both the C920 handling and other things, so there's that.
If there is a way to modify these settings via OBS, shouldn't it be possible to write an application that will automatically update the driver dialogue to your preferred settings on bootup?
Dude, this is awesome advice. I just bought a C920 on the strength of your video. Had my eye on one for years, but my phone camera (which did a pretty decent job, to be fair) broke recently, so this camera combined with your advice is a great solution.
I wanted to tell you, I was having a difficult time on occasion to mess with my settings in the C920. Thanks a bunch for making this very easy to follow. much love
Great video but ... could you add a note in the description letting people know how to find these settings menus? I can't find anything like this in OBS. Logitech's own software offered more adjustability.
Excellent dude, really helped. I was using the dinosaur Logitech Webcam software to adjust the same settings but I had no idea what I was doing. Didn't help that the old program is buggy as hell. If anyone is wondering, the OBS settings are identical to the official Logitech ones so there's no need to fuss with the old one anymore. Appreciate you dude!
Wowww! This is a game changer for me! I was wondering why the lighting look so bad initially, even worse than using my smart phone, but after these changes it looks really fantastic! Thanks for the informative video!
It helped for my D&D vid series. The best tip was that obs will forget the settings. I would start up testing recording and spend 2hrs testing and being like whut the fizzy the settings are set, lol. Thanks. From now on its 10mins resetting devices then going right into recording, one love
Thank you so freaking much man! I downloaded the logitech software to try and mess with the settings but it just wasnt cutting it, but this did! You're awesome! Keep up the good work!
OMFG This is the best my cam has ever looked! Thank you so much I have two elgato keylights and yet still couldn't figure out how to make my cam look perfect until now :D It is annoying that it doesn't save the settings so when I go from different scenes it resets the gain :( but otherwise simple enough fix
Oh man, thank you so much! I bought C920 today and my first thought was - what's wrong with this camera, how to setup it properly?! But you guide is awazing, five minutes and I'm in love with my webcam picture
Oh man I can't believe I ran into this video! I am currently setting up 8 c920s in my neon and plasma studio for filming crafts and showing projects im working on. I'd love to see what you use to make all those stream at one time, I got a donated gaming computer that im running 7 on right now through windows 10. I found at first linux gave me more options for adjusting the cameras which windows can be finicky and sometimes gives me issues but I choose to use it because my stream deck works better on win. Some cameras I have connected go black if it go to the custom setting in windows though, not sure what's happening there. Would love to see how you put your setup together, thanks for sharing!
Cool tips! Are you using Windows or Mac? I cannot find the "Properties for 'C920' screen. I would really love to use my camera with these optimized settings.
I don't use or need OBS, I only have an app in Windows 10 called "Camera" and it does not have most of these controls and settings. I am also having trouble finding official Logitech Control Software. What should I do? Thanks!
Using a Logitech c930e and this still provided a marked improvement in the overall smoothness, color, and clarity of my video. Great content! I love when people get right to the point :D Subbed
IS this video recorded using the c920? If not, what setup are you using? Totally disappointed with my C920s still - I it's the sharpness in this video that I want and still cannot achieve!
Thank you for your clear and helpful advise. I'm still waiting for my Covid 19 delayed C920 HD Pro to turn up. But when it does I know where to start on set up.
If you don't get that settings window install the 'logitech webcam software" from their site. On win10 it will look like it fails but it's failing to install the bloatware not the driver. If on previous versions of windows apparently you can just choose driver only but I can't confirm. If you use the My Logi software it will save settings but you need to run the software and use it as a source in obs. I have issues with latency doing that and it also uses alot of system resources.
-6 for exposure works best for me. if I leave it on -5 it clams up after 30mins when live streaming. How do you run 8 C920s? I realise you need them on different USB hubs, to allow for the bandwidth each cam consumes, but 8?
Hmm, according to some if you install the Logitech software and change the settings with that OBS sees them meaning no need to keep resetting the cam. I can't verify this as I'm waiting for my C920 to arrive.
I know this is an older video but I would appreciate any help you can give! I followed your instructions. Twice. They are awesome - but the problem I have is that I use this camera for filming my art process and there is a LOT of white. Whenever that white paper hits, everything goes all caddywhompus and I either look blue or totally washed out. I'm at a loss. Tech is my thing but cameras are not. I'd appreciate your help if you have the time. ❤
I dont get the box that youre showing in the video :( instead I get the logitech webcam software settings screen and not like an OBS built in settings window, what should I do?
Is there any chance of helping with these settings for people who do NOT use OBS? I make videos and just use the camera feature in my laptop. I use the Logitech C920, and have the same settings panel that you used here, but that's it. I'm unable to do those last steps you did after closing out the settings panel and going into OBS. I'm struggling to get good lighting and color balance for my videos, even though I use this camera and a ringlight. My videos either look too yellow, or I look like a corpse if I don't use the warm light setting on the ringlight. HELP!
I can’t find where to launch any of those settings screens. Has OBS changed since this video? I can only get properties/settings windows with a couple of options
I teach through a company portal. I do not make videos. I don't use OBS. I teach in live time. How do I adjust FOV? My current camera FOV goes beyond my background unless the laptop is sitting too close to allow freedom of movement.
What about the audio delay on these cameras. My streams are always out of sync. What can I do about this? Is this a common issue with this webcam? Thank you for the video, it was very helpful.
I am using also using Logitech C920 at my laptop windows 10. butbdifferent settings co figuration as your. Please advise on what to adjust to het good quallity resolition. Thanks!
HELP!!! When I was adjusting my gain I noticed my camera fps dropped and looks like crap now, also every time I load into obs my camera settings aren't saved
I notice that you mention I should now have 30 FPS video... you never told us to switch from highest FPS back to 30 FPS, at least that I noticed... were we suppost to switch back to 30 FPS?
How does your C920 video look now? Let us know if you want a lighting breakdown next!
And I forgot to thank you for this video! It helped so much, Thanks!
When I set it to 1920 x1080 and Highest FPS, the video kinda goes "choppy." Any idea why that would happen?
I no longer look like i'm in a volcano lol. Thank you!
@D-bomb From my experience, you need a different hardware ID, so you'll need to buy a different webcam for the second camera. That goes for capture cards as well.

Holy crap this was massive for me! Looks so much better now. Also the video felt like a speedrun in comparison to other videos I've watched. Excellent advice delivered in a speedy manner.
You're emphasis on the gain/brightness was a real gamechanger for me. Thanks for spelling that out, I feel like I've never heard that clarified.
Steps:
Custom
resolution 1920
FPS 30
Configure Video
Turn off all of the AUTO settings.
Focus - probably all the way to the left.
Exposure set to (-5)
Turn the gain all the way down
Click Apply
Close out of settings menu (ok)
Switch FPS from 30 to "highest FPS"
Configure Video
(exposure may need to be corrected)
Turn gain all the way down (It might not have moved)
Slowly turn gain up until exposure is correct
Adjust White balance until correct.
Tips:
Gain as low as possible. Should be lower than 100. If it is higher you need to change the exposure to correct this.
-if gain less than 100, and exposure at -5, while it is still to dark, then it means you need more lighting.
Settings will not solve bad lighting.
Settings may not be saved when OBS is closed and reopened.
This was helpful! Thanks for writing this out and i will save it in a notepad as a reference
BRO! If there were futuristic magicians in the present, you would definitive be one of them... OMG this is the ultimate trick to finally get this camera looks actually good!! thank you so much !!
2 years later and this helped so much! thank you so much I literally thought I wasted money on it because no other videos helped! Thank you!

As others have commented, I do not have the same settings as you. I don't have any of those configure buttons below the source selection dropdown
I wanted to tell you, I was having a difficult time on occasion to mess with my settings in the C920. Thanks a bunch for making this very easy to follow. much love
For clarification, are you saying that this entire video was recorded using the C920? Thanks!
I'm curious now 🤨 lmfao will he ever reply
Great video but ... could you add a note in the description letting people know how to find these settings menus? I can't find anything like this in OBS.
Logitech's own software offered more adjustability.
👌🏽
yes, he started talking, I was lost.
Yes! Please! I understood every thing he said and did, but I couldn't figure out how to find the tools to make the adjustments!
It's crazy how good the video quality is now. Thanks for the video my dude.
Thanks man. I've watched half a dozen of these and yours is the only one that actually got my settings the way I wanted.
Excellent dude, really helped. I was using the dinosaur Logitech Webcam software to adjust the same settings but I had no idea what I was doing. Didn't help that the old program is buggy as hell. Great video! I have this camera and didn't know about any of this! I'm excited to mess around with the settings :)
You’ll have to let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the great public service announcement, Gabe!
No problem!
Why am i just learning about this :D Thanks
Better late than never!!!
Oh man, thank you so much! I bought C920 today and my first thought was - what's wrong with this camera, how to setup it properly?! But you guide is awazing, five minutes and I'm in love with my webcam picture
That was so good man, the white balance was killing me !

The c920 is a fucking champ. Been running it since February 2012; for its price, it looks great when the lighting is appropriate.
Thanks a lot after searching many videos I found your video talking about the aspect resolution, exactly what I needed.👍
Your account is so underrated. Thank you.
Cool tips! Are you using Windows or Mac? I cannot find the "Properties for 'C920' screen. I would really love to use my camera with these optimized settings.

Thanks bro. Liked the video, watched from start to finish and hope to see more tutorials.
I’m on a Mac. What app are you using to change settings?
Thanks! I have been messing around with my setting for days now.. Almost annoyed at how easy that actually was lol.
Thank you so much!!! Helped me get a great quality for my streams
Oh my goodness! I was so confused on messing around with the camera setting myself. I really needed this relief THANK YOU also I subbed
IS this video recorded using the c920? If not, what setup are you using? Totally disappointed with my C920s still - I it's the sharpness in this video that I want and still cannot achieve!
thx for the settings my webcam looks amazing and crisp now this tutorial still works as of july 2021 keep it up :)
best c920 guide out there, thank you!
this is driving me crazy how you get all this options on properties and I dont?
great stuff man, thank you! subbed.
Thank you for your clear and helpful advise. I'm still waiting for my Covid 19 delayed C920 HD Pro to turn up. But when it does I know where to start on set up.
WoW Thank you so much this has helped me massively 👍
Are you able to do a video on this same webcam for Mac users?
earned a sub just got this camera thanks for the tips

you have rescued me from shit video quality! Thank you sir!!
Nice👍🏻 where ever I look, this webcam seems to be the one people recommend. I'll keep this video in mind if I end up getting this camera.
Still works in August of 2020! :D Thanks man!
This was a game changer thanks for the tips.✌🏻
Outstanding tips! Still work as of 7-25-21. Just wish Logitech would make it so we could save these settings as default...ugh
it doesn't give me none of those options. no 1080p just 720p.
This video literally made such a huge difference in my image quality! Great channel, subbed!
I might bring super late, but Logitech G Hub saves your Logitech settings so you don't have to rest each time you open OBS.
Thank you for the help, looks great now! Just need better lighting for it to look perfect :)
I LOVE YOU THIS HELPED SO MUCH!!
Amazing. Thank you so much
Excellent review. This is unique, so well done in showing this.
Awesome stuff keep it up! Already knew some of the stuff then there were things that are new! ✨🦦
Thank you mate , awesome job!🔥
Good video! Will that post processing video you're hinting at still come out?
thank you so much dude ... Best guide!!!
Good video helped me a lot

Thank you so much 😭 worked so well
the title got me!

I dont get the box that youre showing in the video :( instead I get the logitech webcam software settings screen and not like an OBS built in settings window, what should I do?
Worked perfect! Thank you!
Which light are you using? I have a logitech streamcam, but I am experiencing interference due to the dark.

For me there is missing the configure video option how is that?
I have massive windows behind me that are showing up super white. is there something that well let me limit extreme levels to fix this?
I need to use close ups on mine but when I do that it is blurry. What can I do to fix that?
What about the audio delay on these cameras. My streams are always out of sync. What can I do about this? Is this a common issue with this webcam? Thank you for the video, it was very helpful.
my c920 audio is crackling bad. can you help? is it faulty or is it a setting? Software? I have only used it once before . it was fine then
I am using also using Logitech C920 at my laptop windows 10. butbdifferent settings co figuration as your. Please advise on what to adjust to het good quallity resolition. Thanks!
