- Today we test the SD9VE with three differnt types of 9mm ammo to see which one performs the best at the range. This test will also allow us to see if the pistol has any feeding or extraction issues with the ammo that we will be bringing with us. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching...Smith & Wesson SD9VE accuracy test with brass, aluminum and steel-cased ammo!
I want to apologize for coming off as arrogant when I showed off that first target. I was amazed by how tight the group was on that target and I never consider my shooting as ¨impressive¨ because I´m not the most accurate shooter out there. Bad choice of words on my part. The pistol, however was very impressive!
travisp11 I would be proud too man 👍🏻
Dylan Shoemake Thanks!!
travisp11 have you bought that 7.62x39 rifle yet
I don't think you came off as arrogant Travis, just excited. I don't think you can find a better gun for the price when it comes to the SD series. There have been at least a couple guys that I know who ended up buying one after shooting mine.
Don't apologize man!
Really like how you set up the cameras to show you and the targets at the same time. Made it enjoyable to watch
Thanks!
A friend I shoot with has one of these, very impressive shooter. I like the way it shoots and handles better than my Glocks. Very accurate little gun. The "terrible" trigger is greatly exaggerated. IMO
Mr. Bill I just made a big deal about the trigger because it seems to be the overwhelming complaint in many of the reviews that I read. It really is not that hard to adjust to.
It's easier to put the Apex spring kit in it and not have to adjust to it at all (plus you will shoot better too).
ChuckHydro
Zero need for all that.
@@SuperEvilC it is if you rotate your carry.
Brag away man. That was great shooting! And with a budget priced gun. I'm impressed.
Thanks! It really is a great budget pistol!
Affordable Armory agreed
Absolutely hated my SD40VE. The factory trigger pull was the worst I’ve experienced! Upgraded it with the apex spring kit. Now I absolutely love firing that clone glock for 25% less with the spring kit installed!
I’ve heard the Apex kit is solid. You don’t have any light primer strike issues?
@@travisp11 I was told that by the gunsmith that installed my spring kit it maybe an issue and if it was to install the larger spring back into place. I have fired the gun about 200x since and only smooth firing! Love the gun now!
I love my SD9 (black slide, very dark grey lower) 1000's of rounds without a single hiccup... I like it more than my Glock 19. No need to switch the trigger or anything... I believe all that to be greatly exaggerated.
SuperEvilC I just think that shooters have become so used to having a pistol that has a trigger pull with a bit of creep, a wall and break that anything else is impossible to get used to. In my opinion you can easily get past this with a bit of range time practice.
I wanna buy the black And gray combo at some point. I may just get it in .40 for something different.
Agree I love mine.Shoots accurate and never has a problem with any ammo. The trigger doesn’t bother me at all.To me it’s just as good as a Glock 19.
@@spacegrass2738what rounds do you use?
Another year gone by and probably another few hundred rounds thru my SD9VE with 0 fails, still a very favorable handgun.
It is an awesome pistol. Mine still serves as our bedside gun.
Any problems in the last 2 years?
Hey Travis I just wanted to tell you I took my girl to SS Pawn to look at what he had and she bought her first revolver! I have to say He is a very nice guy and has some if the best prices I've seen! Can't wait to purchase from him again. He has earned our business. Love the review by the way.
Hard Target Stan told me he had some viewers stop by and purchase a firearm. Thank you for supporting the shop! Yup, he is the reason why I can shop locally and still save money!
I'm not sure why, but I really liked the sound of the bullets hitting that wood.
The development of the demo looks good, it is a good option, I like it and it is reliable, thanks for the demo!
Yup! Thanks for watching!
That's the best I have seen you perform with a new gun. I wouldn't change anything with that gun. Well done.
No, I didn't think you came off as arrogant. I would've said the same thing! Very impressive accuracy.
My SD9VE and Glock 22 have been the only autoloader pistols in my lineup that have had exactly ZERO failures and both are tack drivers up to about 10yds which is MY limit as a shooter and not the limit of the firearms.
The trigger is definitely something that takes a little time to get used to but unless you’re a 1911 fan boy who absolutely must have a 2lb trigger with 2.5mm of travel in order to shoot a gun well then you will have no issues with it. The gritty pull smoothes out over several hundred rounds and you get a pretty good idea of where it will break. I DID eventually opt to get the $20 Apex spring kit to lighten up the trigger a little bit just to add some comfort. I don’t have a trigger pull meter but after installing the spring kit the trigger on my SD9VE feels very similar to my Glock.
BluewaterBoof I need that Apex kit, both the trigger and spring. I hear it is nice!
Great upload, these are great firearms for the $$$. I have had this for three years, no issues.
Ricky Hogan Right on! Mine has functioned well too! Only issue was a slide that didn't lock back but a slight stretch of the mag springs took care of that.
This thing is the best value in handguns I have found lately
tony Yes it is!
I just bought one myself. Thanks for the videos you have done on this firearm. My only issue is the stock rear sight is uneven ,almost tweaked...only option I can think is to replace with steel sight in place of the plastic-ish stock one
Glad to help! Yeah, the rear sight can be a pain. Should be some good aftermarket options for ya!
I'm not a .40 shooter but since I didn't have any in stock any more and hadn't for years, I decided that I'd better have another, at least one. I picked one of these SD40VE's used for $220.00 at a pawn shop with the 2 mags and my out of the box accuracy results were very similar to your 9mmm. I was very, very surprised. This particular .40 won't have any part of steel cased ammo though, at least not my copy. Beyond that, it's been exceptional.
Some guns can be finicky with steel case. It’s always a good idea to at least test it, just in case you might ever have trouble finding your favorite ammo. At some point I want to add a .40 to the collection and this will probably be the one.
You can shoot 9mm or .40S&W by a simple barrel swap on the 40VE and use same magazines. You can also install Smith and Wesson M&P Night Sites on your 40VE/9VE. I plan on installing the Apex trigger kit. night sites-TruGlo TFX PRO S&W M&P/SD9/SD40/Shield/Shield 2.0 XTREME Sight Set-TG13MP1PC

Thanks for checking the channel out!
Hey Travis. Great Channel! I just purchased this firearm and haven't had the chance to fire it too much yet, but definitely looking forward to it. I was also surprised to see your location. I'm from about an hour away, but Kearney is our "trip to Wal-Mart" area! Keep up the good work!
I've figured out your sudden accuracy blessing. For the first time in 87 years, Lexington, Nebraska is not experiencing gale force winds.
YoderTexas Ah! That must be it! Yes! It was a rare day with little to no wind, that or I finally found the perfect pistol for me!
Your low shots come from "peeling over the sights" to see where you've hit. The slower you shoot the better your groups. You seem to quicken the pace the farther back you went. So the groups opened. However, you convinced me to give my SD40SE a try. It was just s trader, but who knows now. Thank you for the video.
NICE Twin Texas Star shooting. I would love to give it a try.
Thanks for watching and I definitely need to focus more on my sights and the target

I watch a lot of gunner videos on you tube. This is the best video showing the target and were the bullet hits. It must be an expensive set up or other channels would have the target on camera.
I sit one camera on a tripod just off to the side and another camera filming me. The only thing that is difficult is combining and synchronizing both clips in my video software. Just takes time but I'm glad you like the video. I have since switched to a silouhette style target instead but still use reactive targets from time to time.

I love my SD9 - this gun is inexpensive not cheap. There is a difference. I actually bought mine while looking at several guns without viewing the price of any of them so I wouldn't be biased I just went with the gun that felt the best (and happened to be the cheapest besides a couple Taurus)
The feel in hand of this pistol is pretty hard to beat.
Maybe it's a coincidence that his shots are off to the left a bit but I just went to the range for the first time with my SD9 and anything past 10 yards was a little off to the left for both my brother and myself. Including my cousin with his own SD. Extreme coincidence or are the sights from factory just a tad off?
May be able to move the rear sight to the right a hair. I honesty think it is me squeezing the grip at the last moment moving the barrel to the left:
very nicely done! it looks like you were pushing ever so slightly left. I do the same thing. I practice in my man cave with an airsoft with a hard trigger. At the range I practice with a SD40VE that is all stock. If you can be accurate with a stock trigger, you can be accurate with just about anything. I practice double action with a revolver also.
I have a tendency to pull my shots to the left. It may be me losing focus but it happens every time that I fire pistols. An airsoft alternative may be the way to go, too, as we have some brutal winters up here. I agree with out about stock trigger accuracy. Heck, I was accurate with my God awful SCCY CPX-2 and now I feel like I can shoot about anything. Thanks for watching!
I have the smith and wesson v model 40 cal did polish the feed ramp and clean up the trigger parts and now I got a clean break trigger. I highly recommend you don't shoot steel case ammo out your pistols due to it will mess up the feed ramp and can cause your fire arm to not work right. Now if you own a highpoint feel free to shoot steel case ammo cause it's lower coast fire arm and they actually shoot the steel case ammo . My smith and wesson v 40 shoots great out to 50 yards I can shoot a soft ball size group at 50 yards np . But keep In mind I do reload my own ammo and have little over 1000 round through the pistol and do clean it after every time I take it to the range. Also found by reloads my smith and wesson likes the really light reloads 115 grains with 8 grains of unique burn powder . Definitely try some reloads if your not getting the groups . Also if you can find the steel case ammo for extreme cheap it's great ammo to store for shtf when ya use up all your other ammo. I find that the certain reloads I found shoot extremely nice groups out my pistol out to 50 yards did take me almost a year trying different grains of powder mix and bullet weight but did finally master a round with weight to get small groups .
Solid advice and thank you for watching!
Nice shooting
Darrin Day Thanks man!
That was the best review I have ever seen. Nice work man.
Thank you very much!!
Your video was simply outstanding & very informative. Great target setup & view. Excellent communication. My beginning research on the net was to compare the accuracy of this S&W to the Glock 19. You really helped with your video.
Danny Haaz Thanks for watching!
THAT WAS SOME FINE SHOOTING. I BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE 2 REASONS FOR A HANDGUN. 1) SELFDEFENSE 2) THE FUN OF RECREATIONAL SHOOTING AND YOU SIR HAVE THEM BOTH COVERED! I AM RIGHT HANDED AND LEFT EYE DOMINANT SO IT’S TAKEN A WHILE NOW TO BE ABLE TO SHOOT AS YOU ARE AND THAT’S ONLY AT 25 YARDS MAX & THE LONGER I SHOOT THE FARTHER THE SPREAD GETS…LOL. I HAVE PUT AROUND 2000 ROUNDS OF THE Federal Aluminum through my SD9 VE but also eats everything else! I put a Pachmyr grip glove on it and you wouldn’t believe the difference it makes I also put an extended takedown lever in and it just about falls apart now….ok not quite but still so much easier! I have always had revolvers so I don’t even know what I’m missing as far as the trigger goes? This handgun is so much fun it was breaking the bank I was shooting $60 a weekend, so I ENDED UP BUYING a Ruger SR 22…another fun gun but so much cheaper to shoot and I go back and forth with them now! Thanks for posting this video!
Great to hear that your SD9VE has been solid. Same here! Thank you for watching!
Does you barrel and slide sit slightly to the right on yours? I feel mine has some slight flaws from the factory
It always looked symmetrical. That just may be the cutaway on the slide that you see from the top
@travisp11 my stock rod was warped so I replaced that with aluminum hoping to fix the slight crooked sitting slide but it didn't help. Im hitting high towards the right. I just feel like I can't hit a barn door with mine so im tryng to cope haha. I don't get to shoot often but I definitely have better groups with my Taurus pt92.
@@brettward420 I’d send it back
So what’s the best bullets to use so it won’t jam???
I’ve always had great luck with Federal. The jamming could be due to the flimsy guide rod and spring. It also takes a range trip or two for this to break in and function better.
love my sd9
I couldn't get my sd40ve to stop jamming up with tula steel case in it
A lot of guns are not happy with steel case ammo. Mine runs it but I don't use it unless I have to.
I had the same issue with my SD40 and Tula. I've shot 7 or 8 other types of ammo through it, and never had an issue. I think the Tula may be out of spec.
Just got this new and put its 1st 100rds threw it and I was not accurate, not sure if its me ,the trigger or that it’s new. Any suggestions or recommendations. Thanx.
splitshot71 The trigger takes getting used to. You may be squeezing your palm while squeezing the trigger. This can cause the barrel to move. You may be flinching. Do you have much experience at the range. I noticed with me it took me a while to learn where the trigger would break before it would fire. Once I found that sweet spot, I was good to go.
It took me over 1000 rounds to get good with it.
Thanks for the video, And now I have made up my mind Ill have to buy 2 of them.
For the money, they are a good choice. Thanks for watching!
Good video
I just got one of these from Dunham Sporting Goods for $279
That is an excellent price!
I just want to quickly clarify that I commented on your cleaning vid a few days ago because I just bought the SD9 myself last weekend and I dident really clean it since it was new. Just a quick clean through the barrel and some fresh lube before shooting. I already ran over 200+ rounds through it and I love it! Zero malfunctions or jams, the type of gun that can take a beating and just keep on going lol 😁. Hell of a choice I made for a handgun for sure. 😀
Thanks again for the video! By the way, what kind of light is that on your SD9, any links perhaps? I'm pretty anxious on getting one for mine.
It is a Streamlight TLR 1 HL, I believe. Wait till you see the light I will be showing on Saturday on my channel. It is compact, cheaper, fits the SD9VE perfectly, and puts out plenty of light for home defense! Thanks for watching!
@@travisp11 yeah I just saw that light on amazon, little out of my budget for now lol. However, I do look forward to seeing the other one thats a little cheaper.

That slide racking sounds exactly like mine - it's got just a touch of the "rough" to the sound!
Dude, it has quickly become my new favorite pistol. I don´t know about long term durability but I´d like to pick up an SD40 and possible an SD9 in black/grey and black/fde. It is such a smooth shooter!
I've got the SD40 myself. Had to send it in once because the frame failed in a weird way (if you racked the slide back and pulled the trigger with no magazine installed the slide would pop off) but this new one has been fine. Of course I need to test it more with the stock striker spring reinstalled - hoping to do that this Thursday. I did upgrade mine some - Truglo TFO sights (which I like a lot), Apex trigger and the steel guide rod/recoil spring.
Jim Burgess I will do the Apex trigger soon but not the spring kit. As for the steel guide rod, I have one with an 18lb spring on it that I bought from NDZ performance. What scares me are complaints that I saw in the forums from a few years ago with people complaining about some tabs in the inner frame breaking from the stress and the rigidity of the steel guide rod. Either way I will be testing them soon!
Jim Burgess Oh yeah!
Question pls do the sigma mags work in the SD ? got some 40 Sigma mags & look'N 4 used 40 sigma TY

I think you're a better shot than you give yourself credit for, by the way!
I bought one a few months ago and was finally able to shoot it this past weekend. I am an avid dove hunter and have shot in a mens trap league for a couple of years. I have a walther p22 I've put around 500-600 rds through.Pretty accurate with that little thing. I am going to be completley honest and say that I was all over the place with the SD9VE. I mean I was totallly embarassed how I was shooting. Was having a hard time hitting a empty gallon of milk from about 20 feet away. Is that normal? I like to consider myself a good "shot" but again, I am new to anything bigger than a .22 in a pistol. Any tips/suggestions? I was using Winchester 115 grain btw
Slow trigger pulls and start closer if possible.
Never slinged +p threw it and just got some Hollows +ps . just curious before i go out and put it threw its paces anyone else have issues or run good
I haven't run +P through mine but you may wanna check the owners manual before you do so. Should be fine but I cant say for sure.
Can I assume the reason you didn't shoot it at the range with the tac light on is because you dont have a holster that will accommodate the light? That's why I stopped at this video when I saw the light and wanted to see what holster you were using?
That pistol was my bedside gun at the time so it had a light on it. I did test my G17 with and without a light to see if it had any effect on accuracy. There may be a company out there now that makes a SD9VE holster that allows the tac light to be attached at the same time.
@@travisp11 Yes Fobus makes a paddle holster that will work for about $35 on Amazon. I was just curious to see what you were using? I have intentions of just using it as my bump in the night bedside distractor as you do, it just drives me nuts not having a (holster) configuration to carry whatever I have the way it may be set up, with & without the light !
@@Frank-uf2vn Ok. Gotcha.
out of 1000 (winchester 115grn white box target loads) with mine i never had one issue..until i tried the white box 145grn hollow points..i had a failure to feed..but other than that been a remarkable gun for the price, fairly accurate (all though shoots slightly left)
Same here about shots to the left. I´m guessing that it is my trigger pull. Sounds like those holow points may be it bit finnicky with the feedramp on the SD9VE. I keep mine loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 115gr JHPs and it has always run those well.
travisp11 thanks i'll pick some of those up...
I wouldn't go over 124 grain bullet and anything with a shorter Barrel the heavier grain bullets are designed for 5-in pistols. friend of mine ran into this with a high point Compact and sent it back to the factory found out that the 147 grain bullets he was trying to shoot were so heavy they were not cycling the slide correctly, it would cause a failure to feed. Keep that in mind anything less than a 5-in barrel, don't go over 124 grain bullet in 9 mm, especially for self-defense it could cost you your life if it jams.
Anything over a 124 grain bullet in a shorter Barrel pistol than a 5 in can cause problems to feed. Especially 147 grain which is designed for a 5-in. My experience the lighter the bullet better it shoots and 9 mm.
Can I use American eagle 9 mm Luger 124? Sorry man new to this stuff. Just bought the sd9ve as my first pistol.
Yup and you will actually find it had less recoil than 115 gr because it take more energy to move a heavier bullet.

what kind of holster do you have? i jut purchased a SD9VE and im currently looking for a holster for it. care to drop a link?
chris sheehy it is a generic Glock 17 Blackhawk style holster that I purchased on eBay. You should be able run just about any G17/G19 holster without any issues.

chris sheehy I'm using both the Blackhawk style holster and Kydex holster from my 3 gun rig for my old Gen 4 Glock 17 with the SD9 VE. Glad to help!
What’s the best ammo for this gun
I like Federal brass case 115gr FMJ for range practice and Hornady Critical Defense for self defense.
Why don't you use actual "GOOD" Self defense hollow points in the target testing ??? Can you adjust rear sights on that gun? everything is low & left.
Hill Shepherd Cost. It runs about $20 per box for Critical Defense. I do practice with that ammo as well as keep that in all of my home defense pistols. I try to run as many rounds as I can through my pistols for range tests so many times that means buying basic brass bulk ammo. In this video, I wanted to run a few different types of ammo so that I could show what kind of results the average shooter might expect. Again, it all comes down to cost.
Oh, and I do have a tendency to always shoot low and left, it is something with my trigger pull that I am trying to work out. The sights can be adjusted for windage but not height.
Ah, I see !!! okay. I was just wondering why you weren't using self defense rounds to see where they would hit. thought that maybe interesting. Once again another good video.
Hill Shepherd In the future I may split up a box of Critical Defense and run it through a few pistols for future reviews. The other issue I run into is that Cabela's is an 80 mile round trip and my only other option if I want to buy more than the Speer gold Dots that my local Walmart sells.
I smoothed the front and back strap on my SD a little with a fine grit sanding pad.
We’re u get those colorful targets?
Also, what are your 2 fave holsters for it, iwb and owb?
Walmart on the targets. Inside the waist band is Clinger Holsters and outside the waist band is anything Kydex off of eBay that is cheap.
What’s the best ammo for this gun?
I prefer Federal 115gr FMJ for range time and Hornady Critical Defense for self defense.
i just bought one for $260. would you put the apex set up in the gun or let it go without. btw nice shooting, great vid. also plz consider reviewing a ruger american if you have not. God bless.
I will see what I can do about getting ahold of a Ruger American. As for the Apex trigger I have heard nothing but great things about it except you can run into a light primer strike issue if you use the Apex striker spring. My only suggestion is that you use the stock/original striker spring but otherwise the Apex trigger kit seems to be a solid option. Thanks for watching!
Move that rear site and your on ! Good Job
Good suggestion!
The farther he was getting away while shooting I thought he was doing a Tactical Retreat. Lmao all the way to the vehicle. And the farther away he got from the target he was shooting low and left. Nice video.
Nope, just backing up to the next cone. I have since improved on my low an left issue that has plagued me for years. A little more trigger finger has helped straighten things out. Thanks for watching! Just a heads up, all of my range videos are the same style so you could say that I have mastered the Tactical Retreat, LOL!
No hate. I figured that is what you were doing. I was just kidding. I love my 2 SD9VEs in 9mm. Having fun researching videos and looking for ideas. Every video I watch has been an influential. Going to turn them into worthy combat pistols in the long run just for kicks and giggles. Just my own personal project with no real reason. Great base model in my opinion.
Jalonnie Johnson Bro, it’s all good I’m glad you like the content!
Love the video Travis. I bought this pistol last fall and love everything about it but the trigger pull. Ordered the Apex trigger and a spring replacement kit a few days ago. How big of a difference did you notice when you replaced the trigger on yours?
My trigger is stock but I have a friend that has the Apex kit installed. My bud did leave the stock striker spring because he kept having light primer strikes but he said it was worth it.
How is the polymer guide rod holding up?
I swapped it out for a NDZ stainless guiderod and spring combo. In my opinion, the flimsy polymer guide rod that comes SD9VE is functional but not reliable in my past experience.
@@travisp11 ...how often should a guide rod/spring be replaced...is it according to years or rounds put through it?
@@lisaredsatl2571 both. A combination of round count, age and climate affect plastics. Its impossible to say when it should be changed except with it either breaks or starts giving Ejection and return to battery issues. If you don't wanna wait for that I will just throw a number out there, every 1k-2k rounds.
@@travisp11 ... thank u, bro, for the feedback... also, do u think that the g3c is better than the sd9?
@@lisaredsatl2571 Once you swap out the plastic guiderod and spring on the SD9VE and substitue an all steel one (some people argue against this, do this at your own risk) the SD9VE is an excellent pistol. I have owned 2 and both ran like champs through countless rounds, but not until I put either an NDZ Performance or Galloway stainless guide rod and spring combo in it. Out of the box I feel like the G3C is the more reliable gun but if anything, the full size G3 is closer in comparison to the SD9VE. Personally I would take a Taurus G3 or G3 Toro over the SD9VE. G3C is great and I own one but I prefer the full size G3 frame and capacity.
Based on your groupings, it appears to be true that this gun pulls hard down and to the left...or at least, to the left in general
That is pretty typical of my shooting. I honestly think a slight rear sight adjustment will make a difference.

@@travisp11 thank you I’ll look into it! One more question if I wanted to add a sight to it, what would you recommend? And what kind of ammo would you think works best?
@@brabbit2702 i would recommend using the sights that are already on it as they work fine. As for ammo, I primarily shoot Federal 115gr FMJ at the range and for home defense I keep Hornady Critical Defense 115gr ammo in it.
@@travisp11 awesome this is very helpful! Thank you so much
I paid under 300.00. It seam to be great with spring and trigger kit
James Ginotti Yup! Sounds fair!
What kinda light is that ?
Streamlight TLR1
Ok thanks I have the same gun. I just need a light and a good holster. I just subscribed awesome video👍🏼
Good shooting
Thanks!!
@@travisp11 your welcome
How about the 40 cal
Jonathan Bolden I don’t have an SD40VE but I have two friends that do and they love em.
@@travisp11 yes sir. I have one myself. Just in comparison of other types of ammo, I personally havent used various types, that's why I was curious. All I carry in it self defence wise is Hornady critical defence and for cheap practice is blazer brass
@@jonathanfreedom1st Sounds like my formula for my range trips and around the house. Im in the market for a .40, especially the SD40VE in FDE or gray!
Thank you for the video...
Glad to help!
Here's a sub ,thanks ..i just don't know what ammo to buy , I've never bought ammo before ..do you have any recommendations with companies or like something not too expensive but reliable...idk nothing so if you can dumb it down that would be cool ❤ again here's a sub not many vids on this gun.... I actually got this gun from a pawn over way way priced and used and idk if I regret it cause I haven't shot it .if you have any thoughts on that lmk ....and one more thing my gun is insanely hard to rack ..how can I fix that ? Maybe new spring ? But idk what spring to use or if I make it lighter if it's going to mess it up..thanks ik it's a long message but if you reply it would really help me out❤+ what would you recommend me upgrading it with... You said something about guide rods and springs but idk
Federal 115 grain ammo is a good starting place. Any good gun store or sporting goods store that sells ammo should be able to make a solid recommendation. I also like 115 grain Fiocchi ammo or Blazer brand ammo. As for moving the slide, every pistol is different so if you take it and shoot it and it has no issues don’t change any parts.
mine at 7 yards i can keep a 1 1/2 inch group and i am out of practice
scott russell to I can and have shot this pistol better.
at the pistol range today with another 50 rounds thru my SD9VE, No Fails what so ever ....... accuracy was very good at 10 yards .... I love my PK380 but 2 Fails to Eject, boohoo .... My Walther Creed with 50 rounds functioned Flawlessly ....
Incredible shooting bro. I'm very interested in this gun for self defense and concealed carry. Is it reliable? Is the grip too rough like the shield 2.0? Thanks and greetings from PR.
The grip is not overly aggressive. It is different. Than the shield. It has texture but not rough. It really is a good pistol for the money.
@@travisp11 Good to know. My love handles can't take the shield 2.0 grip. Thanks for responding.
@@josearalat dude, same here. If you get a larger holster like an Alien gear setup it will cover your side and prevent the grip from rubbing.
@@travisp11 Thought about it but too uncomfortable with work clothing. Suits, ties or long sleeves and dress pants. Someone suggested talon rubber grips and I ordered them. We'll see when they arrived. But that S&W in your review sure interests me.
@@josearalat cool! It also comes in FDE and stealth gray. Just a bit less flashy.
This thing not consistent at all lol. Aimed at bullseye and missed the whole paper. One of the big papers at the range. Maybe it was the ammo
Try putting more finger on the trigger. Ammo can be a small factor, though.
@@travisp11 will do, Thanks
What more can you ask from a $200-$320 reliable gun from S&W? Nice shooting BTW.
Reefer Nanoman Exactly. I want to buy one in FDE or Stealth Grey now.
travisp11 I've seen them for as low as $260 brand new online. I can't remember where though exactly. Academy has them for like $325 out the door. I should have bought one when they were having the rebate.
Primary Arms or PSA was selling them for $249 but $325 is not a bad price, including tax!!
travisp11 Actually PSA did a $200 and they sold like hot cakes! My friend might sell me his SDVE used for $200.
Reefer Nanoman I'd say buy it. I paid $225 for mine used about six months ago and I don't regret it.
good video
CJ SPRINKLES Thanks!
This is the sharp little pistol that everyone loves to hate.
I would venture to guess that most people that rag on this pistol have never held one in their hands, much less shot one. They think it is just another Sigma, which I understand that it deserves all of the negative publicity that it gets, however, this is not a Sigma. I have never been able to look at a Sigma, but I would like to break them both down and see how they compare, both on the table top and at the range. I own the SD40VE and like it very much, but I would like to also get the 9mm version one day, when I can catch a good deal.
Your either pulling your shots left, or you need to drift the sight, or both, COBISH?
Paul Bernett Probably a bit of both.
Probably the bad stance. Had a guy get his ass ripped in the police academy for standing like that
Anthony Lovato I'm following a forward stance by the book. Going to blame it on the trigger pull.
Accuracy depends on the shooter more than the pistol
Periodcoins O True. All of my firearms are way more accurate than I!
I personally would never use steel case ammo, mostly because I get boxes of 50 rounds for 10$ all day where I live.
CheapOutdoorGearReview Same here. I think I paid $7.50 for the Tula but I just wanted to make sure that the SD9 would cycle it with no issues.
CheapOutdoorGearReview Me too. For a while there Federal Brass was $12.98 a box at Walmart but now it is 9.97. Tula 9mm steel case was around 7.97 last time I checked. I only run it once with steel case to ensure it will function with it.
No one says it doesnt have a clean break
Jonathan Wilson unfortunately, it does not. Just tenses up and then breaks.
@@travisp11 hmmm... Odd... I mean I polished mine but it always broke nice. Nonetheless great pistol for the money.
The Streamlight TLR-6, 69293 that fits the Smith and Wesson M&P pistol fits the 40VE/9VE and works great. I have the Streamlight TLR-6 on many of my sidearms and hope to have one on all of them. This model has a Laser and 100 Lumen light and it not too bulky and very light I highly recommend them and Fobus makes a holster RBT17 that works with this sidearm with a light installed. I would recommend having 2 pistols one to install in a CAA MCK and one on your hip and have a "Perfect Pair" I have a few perfect pairs (sidearm and carbine/rifle in the same caliber and even better if they use the same magazine also!) They are great to have. ruclips.net/video/vyax-Dcr2K4/видео.html
The factory trigger is just fine.
I agree but it takes a little getting used to.
@@travisp11 nice shooting!
@@johnnywishbone932 Thanks!
No aim from long range 😂😂
Nice vid and I love my SD9 but hey my dude you’re not going to see any noticeable differences in accuracy from different types of ammo at those close ranges. The inconsistency in your shots at close range are from you, not the ammo or firearm. Differences in performance for pistol ammo aren’t going to become large enough to be noticeable unless you’re about twice as far away as you were in your testing.
BluewaterBoof I know but I was curious. Does the recoil and different through the brands? Does it run through pistol? These are also some of the questions I might ask.
Bluewaterbuff I have the sdve 40 and it absolutely will not shoot 180gr without jamming put a lighter grain in it works perfect ammo brand and grain does make a difference
A local Hardware store sold these in December 2019 for $199.99+Tax, they had extra magazines for $9.99+Tax. Great quality for an excellent price. Solid value, Size comparison of this pistol is the same size as Glock 19...
Yup! It is a great pistol!
Wow! The cheapest I can find it in December 2020 is $430.00.
@@bocconom yup, they have gone up quite a bit.
Now I feel bad, my local pawn shop sold it to me for $350. I should've looked more in my city, then it has a little rust, not noticeable rust, but it's there.
@@elidavis1494 honestly just the happy you could get one. Anymore the prices on this are $350 or more if you can even find one.
Just curious as to your point of aim on the targets. Where they all center of or at bottom of center mass?
borktown bullseye just just above my front sight
There's nothing wrong with these smithy's, they are very accurate IMO, Im hitting clay's at 60+yds, the trigger is fine too, just because I have better guns doesn't make this one bad....
It is definitely a favorite of mine!
