      I enjoyed this review... However, I have a key question that I need clarity... During TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS, are you able to hear a low frequency whistle or hum that has a varying tone? I have a pair--took a paid back because I thought I was defective, but the new pair has the same tones (similar to that of a hearing test) that seem to be more audible during a call, and not so much during music listening... Please--Let me know.

    The lack of multi point is nothing short of mind blowing to me. I was sure they would add it this time around… Ive been wanting the QC Buds 2 for a while but I was holding out for the Ultras and multi point. What a shame.

    • @mcnaugha
      @mcnaugha Год назад +6

      If you care about audio quality, multipoint is total a$$. The connected devices have to use the same codec. That usually results in a drop down to the boomer codec SBC. The Ultras are the first Bose headphones to finally unlock the Qualcomm codecs. They’ve been using Qualcomm for years but always only providing SBC and the other boomer codec AAC. Finally they listened and now we have access to CD-quality audio wirelessly and lossy Hi-Res audio up to 24-bit/96kHz which allow these earbuds to reach their true potential in audio quality. Multipoint is not the dream feature people are convincing themselves it is. You do not need it if you care about the quality of music playing back. That’s what these earbuds are for. High quality experience. Not average experience.

    I just upgraded my QCII buds to the QC Ultra and passed my QCII's to the spousal unit, who won't ever care about spatial audio. The microphone is still just sad, and I agree that the ball was dropped with wireless charging- however, for 50 bucks you can replace the case with a wireless charging case, which is nice to have as an option.

  • @smuook1969
    @smuook1969 Год назад +10

    The notch design on the ear bands does help install them correctly. But more importantly, it prevents the bands from rotating. The QC ii bands when rotated don't properly fit into the case and it will prevent charging the bud. I had a couple of times when I would go to put on the QC ii buds only to find one of them has a dead battery. Sure enough, the band was always rotated out of position and the charging points weren't making contact. Spot on for the multipoint. I received my QC Ultra earbuds today and I have to say that I was pleasantry surprised. I think they are slightly louder, and the immersive audio is an interesting by pleasant feature - still evaluating it but first thoughts is that it does what it claims. FYI, Bose has a new wireless charging case as an accessory that I'm waiting on arriving.

    I have tried the Sony WF-1000XM5, B&O Beoplay Ex, and now the Bose QC Ultra. The Sony's were nice but I felt they would fit awkward in my ear even when I tried different ear tips. I did like the noice cancellation and sound quality though, the case does feel really cheap like it will break easily. The Bang and Olufsen's were the worst out of the bunch, the sound was nice but the noice cancellation was not good at all. In my opinion, for the price point you can get better earbuds for cheaper than the $400 price of the Beoplay's. The Bose QC Ultra are my favorite because the noise cancellation is amazing and they feel nice in my ears. I don't care if the case has wireless charging or not like some other people do. I also think the base EQ sounds great but once I customized the EQ by bringing up the bass it was great! Of course this is just my opinion based on my experience with them so far

    Multipoint connection requires all devices to use the same codec. It usually drops down to SBC. So, I, for one, don’t miss it as I always want the highest audio quality. These earbuds are for the audio quality not the convenience factor. There’s plenty of cheap earbuds that offer multipoint if you want to connect to two devices with SBC.
    I don’t think wireless charging is important but you can get a case extender which adds wireless charging. It’s an extra £50 though. You can get 3rd party ones for £10.
    Finally unlocking the aptX Adaptive and Lossless is everything for me. These feature the QCC5181 SoC whereas the QCEII’s had the QCC5171.

    For this product, like you mentioned, I’m surprised to see the flagship prioritizing a couple things like spatial audio and not adding multi device or wireless charging. Literally two of the biggest differences with the QCII’s. I don’t think they’ve differentiated this product enough if the biggest difference is some smaller sound things. At least it sounds like they slightly improved the microphone from your mic test.
    But I gusss maybe I’m not the target market since I already have two QC II’s.

    To explain why these may not use Multipoint....Multipoint is a Bluetooth Codec thing. You can't have LDAC and other High Resolution Audio WITH Multipoint active. It is one or the other. I can't remember which Bluetooth Codec uses Multi-point but that codec doesn't support high bitrate (high resolution audio) AND Multipoint. Other earbuds have the feature...but you have to manually turn of say, LDAC in order to have it. You phone switches Bluetooth Codec based on the Audio Source and Device. It's quite complicated. I have the Liberty 4 NC and it supports LDAC but I can't use Multipoint AND LDAC because they use different Codecs.

I only use my qc earbuds for the gym and that's it. I love the quality sound they come with do u think the ultra qc earbuds are worth getting as a upgrade because I'm hearing Sony makes some earbuds that's better

    • @CEONTHEMAKING
      @CEONTHEMAKING  Год назад +1

      I'd say they're a slight upgrade in terms of sound. You'll mainly notice more bass compared to the original qc earbuds. If they're only for the gym, I don't see why you would need to spend 300 to grab these. I would just wait until your QCs crap out.

  • @k1assic
    @k1assic Год назад +9

    The last earbuds I bought without wireless charging was in 2020 and even then that was considered behind the times. In 2023 I wouldn't consider $180 buds without wireless charging, multi point connection and a useful eq much less a $300 set. Spacial audio and head tracking are USELESS gimmicks for music.

      @@deanyuan1812 you obviously missed the point. I have B&O eq, Sennheiser M3 and Jabra elite 10 (along with 1more evo and comfomini, galaxy pro 2, nothing 2, earfun air 3 pro, Liberty 3 pro and 4 to name a few). Every last one has wireless charging. Bose thinks because they have the best noise cancellation it can get away with charging $300 with no multi point or wireless charging. And Bose is only high end in noise cancellation and price. I'd gladly pay $300 WITH wireless charging and multipoint. You wouldn't buy a 2023 car or truck with a 3 speed automatic no matter the price because it's dated and well below current standards. That's what Bose is doing, selling you a 2023 F150 with a 3 speed and a distributor cap ignition.

      @@warrobots1warrobots135 the Sennheiser momentum 3s cover every basis and are still my favorites (a long with the new Jabra elite 10). They are under $200 and do EVERYTHING well: stay in your ears, get loud, bass hits hard, multipoint, good EQ options, great clarity, great noise cancelling and I'd bet my life they sound better than any Bose. Soundcore Liberty 3 pro and 4 sound nearly identical to each other (4 have a smidge brighter top end, 3s have a smidge more bass but EQ to nearly indistinguishable) and are unbeatable for $109/129.

    What makes the bose absolutely useless to me is that you cannot disable touch controls. So if you live in a cold climate like me, if you wear a hat that covers your ears or wear a hood(or even just have long hair), as you move around that creates friction on the headphones that is enough to trigger the touch controls and the headphones go haywire.
