When I first put these on in my vehicle I didn’t know what the Immersive Sound was , and I was freaking out cus the music literally sounded like it was playing out of my car speakers !! This setting is AMAZING !
i was blown away by these -- the sound, the ANC, and the fit, until... i tried to take a call on them. The call quality on both ends of the call is TRAGIC, so much so that I had to send them back. As someone with small ears that don't typically work well with earbuds -- and these fit and felt amazing -- I was so sad that these earbuds couldn't give a remotely decent call experience.
I've had the same experience. My wife refuses to speak to me when I'm wearing these, she says it sounds terrible, it seems to amplify the ambient sound of the environment I'm in down the mic to the person that I'm speaking to. Also crappy on Zoom calls.
This was the biggest issue I had with my current Bose QC Earbuds. The call quality is absolutely terrible. I would imagine this is what it might sound like speaking to someone on the moon via mobile phone. I was hoping the Ultra upgraded version was better, but it sounds like it's more of the same. Hard pass for me, especially at that price.
Which is strange because if you use them as a mic and monitor the output, the quality is absolutely fine. Sounds like a codec/device issue, potentially solvable with software.

And contacted bose and they offered me these at a discounted price but final sale. I was debating if the call would be better but nope it will be the same isht. For the price I would expect a decent call.

Nice review. I also own these earbuds and I agree with your assessment 100%. These buds are freaking amazing. I give mine the most use at the gym, and I will add that they are ultra comfortable and ultra secure while moving about and sweating a lot. I have never had one fall out or feel as if it dislodged which would be an annoyance I could not stand for. For me, this was an upgrade from a previous set of bose buds which still had a wire connecting the two buds. $300 US was more than I wanted to spend but, after experiencing these buds, I do not regret a single penny spent for them.
If I am not mistaken, the Soundcore Liberty 4 were the first earbuds to release with spatial audio, I used to own them after I lost the case with one of the earbuds inside
I owned the 1st generation BOSE earbuds and LOVED them. I was skeptical about the BOSE Ultras being better than my 1st gen BOSE but the Ultras are AMAZING!! IMO these are the best sounding and best noise cancelling earbuds on the market compared to the Apples, Sony's, etc...
My QC II were really good I’d go from my APP2 back to them every time. Only sold them due to wanting to tries these. only one thing the Bose didn’t do to good was transparency mode but that’s not a problem it was good enough
I bought these earbuds, and I agree. Nothing (no earbuds) even comes close to the ANC with the Bose QC II Ultra earbuds. I also agree that the audio quality is as good or better than any competitor. Also, the controls on these earbuds are the best of any out there. The fit and ease of putting these earbuds on is also the best of any earbuds I have ever used. They are the most comfortable earbuds I have ever used. The main problem I have had is connection issues and no multipoint connection ability. Which is disappointing. However, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I am keeping my set.
One thing I like with these is even in the aware/passthrough mode, loud sounds are attenuated like car horns etc. OK car horns are probably not a great example but, still, it takes the sting off loud sounds.
i got mine yester day thanks to your review , and wow they are mind blowing the best I have ever tried and I have had a lot of top of the range earbuds the bose sound and comfort simpely AMAZING ......only one thing I wish that when I am talking it switch of nocie cancelation , so I always need to take out of ear to listen what the other person is saying
Thanks for the great contribution! I bought the Ultra two weeks ago after a battery in my Sony over ear gave up the ghost after 2.5 years and then there was no response from Sony! The Sony were already great, but in terms of noise canceling and sound quality, the Bose Ultra is in a different league! Voice quality during calls (not so important for me), multipoint functionality (that would be great, but not a knock-out criterion for me), lack of wireless charging (not important for me) and the somewhat loveless and low-quality app are the weak points of these headphones; some things could certainly be improved with firmware/software updates! For me, super great in-ears!!!
I purchased a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds, a month ago, and they are fantastic. The noise cancellation feature is awesome. I had a nosey fan running in the room, as soon as I activated the noise cancellation, instantly the noise disappeared. I thought the fan broken, because it was so quite. The immersion feature is beyond belief. I love the still motion sound, it really takes the listening experience to another level. In the past earbuds would hurt my ears after long periods of wear, not the ultra, very comfortable. These are the best earbuds I have ever purchased.

I had the Bose QC1 earbuds originally, and even then their ANC was second to none. I remember comparing them to my partners AirPod Pro's at the time, and couldn't believe the difference in the ANC. It was night and day, the QC1's were in a different league. The QC2's have only raised the game again, they're incredible. I haven't tried the Ultra's yet, but can only assume they've raised the game even further. Would I like wireless charging and multipoint connection? Hell yes, but with the superiority of the ANC and sound quality alone, I honestly don't even miss those other features. Bose ANC is THE standard.
[Noise Cancelling - QC45 Vs. QC Ultra Headphones Vs. QC Ultra Earphones] Great video! I'm a long time user of the QC 35 (absolutely love them). Now, I've got a constant noise of a vacuum cleaner coming from a pet shop which is driving me nuts. The QC 35 don't block enough of that, and I need to play some white noise while wearing them to block that noise. So my question is, should I upgrade to the QC Ultra Earbuds or Headphones? Not sure if you have them both, so maybe this could be applied to QC45 Vs. QC Ultra Earbuds. I guess the QC Ultra would provide superior noise cancelling given the passive NC cancelling provided by them being in-ear and not over-ear. The case scenario here would be to use the headphones/earbuds without any music and just beneficiate of the NC capabilities. I also do a bunch of calls each day, and I normally don't use the QC35 during them as I can't hear myself properly and that's annoying :D What would you recommend between these options? Thanks a lot!
I’ve only ever owned two pair of wireless earbuds: gen 1 galaxy buds (which still work flawlessly, and I got then when they first came out), and Sony Linkbuds S, which I’ve had maybe a year and a half at this point. The linkbuds are fairly decent, however I too use one earbud the majority of the time, the right one, and now the right ear bud only holds a charge for 20 minutes. So I’m going to get a pair of these bose ultra buds and hope for the best. Most reviews rave about them.
Hey did these ever get a firmware update to improve the call quality. Really that's the main reason i don't want to buy them because i heard the call quality was abysmal noisy areas

I had the qc ii earbuds... lost the right side... realised there isn't a find my earbuds feature. Im contemplating if i weather to buy the ultras and have the same issue again as it doesnt have it too
I ended up sending my Bose Quietcomfort Ultra earbuds back to Amazon. The controls on the stalks were working very erratically on some devices. All fine on iPad, on and off with iPhone, no response at all on Mac (had to do this via my mouse on the screen). I worked with Bose support to try and fix this, but still didn't work. I returned them to Amazon and, today, am expecting to receive the replacements. I really do hope there are no similar problems, because, when they do work, they are brilliant.
Great review. It’s 31 March 2024. Current special on Amazon UK for £225 - RRP £299I am from South Africa and had tax deducted so it ended up being £185 or something! Can’t wait!!! I have AirPods Pro 2 but these summer a notch up!!! And I usually love Bose because of the bass factor that I love!!!

MY question is: do they have customizable controls? I like that they have volume sliders, that's great. But what if i decide that actually, i want single tap for ANC/Transparency? Can i do that?

I am an Apple fan boy and do have the AirPods Pro Gen 2, that I use for work calls....but the Bose QC Ultra are a good bit better. The NC is on another level.
I upgraded to these from a pair of AirP0ods Pro 2. I go the pub for lunch and a few bevies, and I bring along my Surface Pro 9. "My" seat is under one of the pub speakers, and the Pros did a reasonable job of deadening the music, but I could still tell what the song was. Footfall has increased since the village pubs went from 3 to 2, and consequently the volume of conversation increased, and the Pros didn't do a good job with it. Also, they tended to work themselves loose as I munched my food. The QC 35s handle the noise with ease, and when it's quiet, I can't even hear the music. And although they're much more comfortable to wear than the AirPods, they are also much more secure in the ear. As for phone calls, my habit has always been to remove my earbuds and go outside when my phone goes off or I want to make a call.
I initially bought the Sony WF XM5, they didn’t work for me in the noise cancelling department, in fact they didn’t work at all. I liked the sound, but I fear Sony have stuffed up with their choice of tips. I personally found it impossible to get a good seal and hence no NC. Frustrated, I bought a pair of the Bose Ultra and they work. However, will they be good enough to beat my wonderful over ear Sony WH XM4 on my frequent flights? I doubt it very much, but the compact nature of buds is a trade off I maybe happy to live with. Nice review Mark.Thank you.
Great video on the Bose earbuds. Just about to order some. One question - I have the Apple AirPods Pro - I have changed the tips a lot - but the buds fall out when I move around especially bending down for example gardening ( not into gym working out) - are the Bose ultra earbuds a better tight fit? Hi Mark, do they work with only one bud in use irrespective of which side (left or right) you are using? Last time I was searching for an alternative to apple ear buds I was out off by the fact that the target set (cant remember if it was Bose or Sony) could work with only one ear bud in use, so long as it was (for example) the right side. If you used only the left side, they would not worked as the right side was the brains of the pair that dealt with receiving the signal from the phone/music/youtube source would love these Bose buds, but only if I can alternate back and over which side I chose to use on its own
They are rhe most secure and comfortable earbuds without the outer ear ring to secure then (they use an inner ear ring instead) but beware of static sound issues, they have a highly common anc defect that sounds similar to a car radios interference

I want to use on an aircraft, has anyone found a Bluetooth transmitter that will pair with these Bose? Bose recommend TaoTronics wireless Bluetooth transmitter, but these don't seem available in UK.
Finally somebody got it right instead of bashing them for not having multipoint connection and wireless charging. The main factors that make or break a pair of ANC earphones or earbuds are comfort, sound and ANC. The Bose QC ANC earbuds II and Ultra have no competition in these categories. I know what I am talking about because I returned my Sony WF-1000XM5s for unbelievably poor ANC and inferior ergonomics and comfort. They only scored for their small size and nice looks. Sony's bloated app functions are useless and their sound lacks clarity and separation. Even Apple's Airpods Pro 2 are better than Sony's XM5s. At least they are comfortable, have decent ANC especially for semi-open earbuds and a top of the line transparency mode.
I've held off for years on getting wireless ANC earbuds due to lots of negative feedback I've read on prior models. I took the dip with these QC Ultra Earbuds and I'm not disappointed. These things sound and fit great. ANC is amazing. What I don't like is the touch sensitivity for pause-rewind-skip. I'm often pausing or skipping by mistake when I meant to rewind. That's the one thing that takes a star off of the rating. I love these for my long runs (half-marathon and beyond) because they stay in and don't hurt my ear (with the correct sized ear pieces swapped in) and I can easily swap between aware mode, when close to traffic, and immersion mode. These things are now my go-to headphones over my QC headphones. I keep my QCs for air travel and meetings (earbuds don't do as great of a job with voice as the QCs).
Yes, they' have an IPX4 water and sweat resistance rating, They're not totally waterproof, but fine for the gym. Also, despite being really comfortable to wear, they are also unbelievably secure in your ears.
Bose's earbuds have always been the king since back when they were wired. Always the best fit and secure for my ears... My biggest issue with the latest generations is the missing feature of GPS location. Lose one earbud and youre shit outta luck sadly...
I am on my third pair of these. I absolutely love the sound and fit, but the left earbud has this buzzing/static noise that you can hear when ANC is on and no music is playing. Anyone else having this issue? Probably going to look for other options at this point
Yes, I have and just sent mine back for a refund... Seems this is an obvious/common issue in alot of these. But for some ungodly reason, no review talks about it... so annoying
I had a pair of the QC II buds… returned it because of static in the left bud… got the second pair and after a week of use the static returned in both buds. Paired to an iPhone.
So they're even better than the B&W P97 s2? I just for half a year gave a way a pair of Bose nc700 because I don't like that sound but if Bose has made it better now I need to try them. Bless.
I asked the same question but i dont think its sounding better than PI7 S2. i owned many earbuds previously PI7 S2 is really the cleanest hi-fi grade sounding buds
@@clgaines2006 from the QCE 2 to the Ultra? No. Spacial audio alone doesn’t warrant spending another 300 bucks. If you don’t have either of these, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Ultra, but keep an eye out for a sale on the QCE 2 if you wanna spend less👍🏻
Can you just listen to nothing and experience the noise cancellation? ie. for sleeping. Also can you sleep on the side with these, or are the buds too big for that?

I have the original earbuds and the II. The II fit me better than any earbud I’ve ever used, have great noise cancellation, and I happen to like the Bose sound signature. I considered getting the Ultra but will probably spend my money on the new Ultra overear headphones to replace my Bose Headphone 700.

My ears are awkward. The sound is unmatched. The problem is they fall out very easily

I am an Apple fan boy and do have the AirPods Pro Gen 2, that I use for work calls....but the Bose QC Ultra are a good bit better. The NC is on another level.

Bose QC 2 basically same ANC tweaked for some highs same buds repackaged and renamed to call them Ultra
I upgraded to these from a pair of AirP0ods Pro 2. I go the pub for lunch and a few bevies, and I bring along my Surface Pro 9. "My" seat is under one of the pub speakers, and the Pros did a reasonable job of deadening the music, but I could still tell what the song was.
Footfall has increased since the village pubs went from 3 to 2, and consequently the volume of conversation increased, and the Pros didn't do a good job with it. Also, they tended to work themselves loose as I munched my food.
The QC 35s handle the noise with ease, and when it's quiet, I can't even hear the music. And although they're much more comfortable to wear than the AirPods, they are also much more secure in the ear.
As for phone calls, my habit has always been to remove my earbuds and go outside when my phone goes off or I want to make a call.
I love my QCII earbuds but it's ridiculous they still haven't put wireless charging or multipoint.
Neither are deal breakers for most people.

I initially bought the Sony WF XM5, they didn’t work for me in the noise cancelling department, in fact they didn’t work at all. I liked the sound, but I fear Sony have stuffed up with their choice of tips. I personally found it impossible to get a good seal and hence no NC. Frustrated, I bought a pair of the Bose Ultra and they work. However, will they be good enough to beat my wonderful over ear Sony WH XM4 on my frequent flights? I doubt it very much, but the compact nature of buds is a trade off I maybe happy to live with. Nice review Mark.Thank you.

Great video on the Bose earbuds. Just about to order some. One question - I have the Apple AirPods Pro - I have changed the tips a lot - but the buds fall out when I move around especially bending down for example gardening ( not into gym working out) - are the Bose ultra earbuds a better tight fit? Hi Mark, do they work with only one bud in use irrespective of which side (left or right) you are using? Last time I was searching for an alternative to apple ear buds I was out off by the fact that the target set (cant remember if it was Bose or Sony) could work with only one ear bud in use, so long as it was (for example) the right side. If you used only the left side, they would not worked as the right side was the brains of the pair that dealt with receiving the signal from the phone/music/youtube source

They are rhe most secure and comfortable earbuds without the outer ear ring to secure then (they use an inner ear ring instead) but beware of static sound issues, they have a highly common anc defect that sounds similar to a car radios interference

I want to use on an aircraft, has anyone found a Bluetooth transmitter that will pair with these Bose? Bose recommend TaoTronics wireless Bluetooth transmitter, but these don't seem available in UK.
Finally somebody got it right instead of bashing them for not having multipoint connection and wireless charging. The main factors that make or break a pair of ANC earphones or earbuds are comfort, sound and ANC. The Bose QC ANC earbuds II and Ultra have no competition in these categories. I know what I am talking about because I returned my Sony WF-1000XM5s for unbelievably poor ANC and inferior ergonomics and comfort. They only scored for their small size and nice looks. Sony's bloated app functions are useless and their sound lacks clarity and separation. Even Apple's Airpods Pro 2 are better than Sony's XM5s. At least they are comfortable, have decent ANC especially for semi-open earbuds and a top of the line transparency mode.

I've held off for years on getting wireless ANC earbuds due to lots of negative feedback I've read on prior models. I took the dip with these QC Ultra Earbuds and I'm not disappointed. These things sound and fit great. ANC is amazing. What I don't like is the touch sensitivity for pause-rewind-skip. I'm often pausing or skipping by mistake when I meant to rewind. That's the one thing that takes a star off of the rating. I love these for my long runs (half-marathon and beyond) because they stay in and don't hurt my ear (with the correct sized ear pieces swapped in) and I can easily swap between aware mode, when close to traffic, and immersion mode. These things are now my go-to headphones over my QC headphones. I keep my QCs for air travel and meetings (earbuds don't do as great of a job with voice as the QCs).

Yes, they' have an IPX4 water and sweat resistance rating, They're not totally waterproof, but fine for the gym. Also, despite being really comfortable to wear, they are also unbelievably secure in your ears.
Bose's earbuds have always been the king since back when they were wired. Always the best fit and secure for my ears... My biggest issue with the latest generations is the missing feature of GPS location. Lose one earbud and youre shit outta luck sadly...

I am on my third pair of these. I absolutely love the sound and fit, but the left earbud has this buzzing/static noise that you can hear when ANC is on and no music is playing. Anyone else having this issue? Probably going to look for other options at this point

Yes, I have and just sent mine back for a refund... Seems this is an obvious/common issue in alot of these. But for some ungodly reason, no review talks about it... so annoying
Reddit had hundreds of reviews about this and amazon even lists this item as having a very high refund rate...

I had a pair of the QC II buds… returned it because of static in the left bud… got the second pair and after a week of use the static returned in both buds. Paired to an iPhone.

No. Spacial audio alone doesn’t warrant spending another 300 bucks.
If you don’t have either of these, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Ultra, but keep an eye out for a sale on the QCE 2 if you wanna spend less👍🏻

I have the original earbuds and the II. The II fit me better than any earbud I’ve ever used, have great noise cancellation, and I happen to like the Bose sound signature. I considered getting the Ultra but will probably spend my money on the new Ultra overear headphones to replace my Bose Headphone 700.
