    Man I'm really happy you did this ! You were close with the tuning, it's actually in D standard. And the song came out in 1998. So not everything was novelty, but they are one of the founding father of death metal. And they really evolved since their first album in 1987. The vocal style changed, the sound, and mostly the composition, wich drift from more classical death metal to the more progressive style that you heard.
    It was really cool ans funny seeing you listening to this kind of stuff, take care dude

    if you have the time or patience, do "Spirit Crusher" from the same Album "The Sound of Perseverence"

    Now I get it! Metal generally captivates me because they play super angry, but it's so beautiful and there's so many layers. To my untrained ears it sounds very complex!

    He isn't doing any pig squeals or inhale style. Listen to older death, he changed his vocal style over the years, it was more comfortable for him to do the higher style

    No pedals. Dual guitars playing different octaves in the intro. Marshall jcm 400 or 800. Only effects are chorus and delay.

    I think it would be pretty entresting to do a Cynic video. 2 of the trio was on Death's Human album and they are absolutely legends. If you want a more metalish thing, i would recommend "I'm But A Wave To..." and if you want a more genre blending one, you might check out "King Of Those Who Know". Oh, the genres that they blend into, is most of the time jazz and fusion.

    Best death metal band? Well... Death, duh. Hahaha. To be honest, one of my favorite things of death is how real the recordings are. If you listen closely to Crystal Mountain you'll realize the drummer is not hitting the double pedals spot on sometimes but it makes it so much better. As so many recording before the era of quantizing

  • @isuskrist3883
    @isuskrist3883 2 года назад +2

    The song isn't actually that hard to learn or memorise...after playing it enough times. You have to get used to the frequent time changes. Most of deaths songs are like that. Another one of their songs, "Scavenger of human sorrow" always trips me out, the timing is so weird. IMO it is their most difficult song exept for the solos, those are not too bad.

    Chuck tuned to d standard, but you shouldn't pick apart all the music you listen to while you listen If you can help it, just groove. one more thing, there isn't a single blast beat in any death material, because he simply didn't like them and wanted to sound more unique.

    • @TanguyBlanchard
      @TanguyBlanchard  2 года назад +1

      I mean, I'm trying to groove and then pick it apart! I play it for a while and then pause and talk, but I get what you mean. I'm not the best at metal vocabulary, I saw your other comments, genuinely thanks for teaching me things :)
