He later became very addicted to pills and I will never forget me holding him in my arms on the floor while he cried due to the pain of withdrawls. Luckily, he eventually recovered and has a life now. It could have easily gone the other way. We played great music together but I am happier seeing him recovered and not playing than seeing him addicted and suffering during our times on stage.

Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy, Spiritual Healing, Human, Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic are better then The Sound of Perseverance only because it was a very modern death metal at the time. Don't get me wrong, I love this album too but not in the same way as the last 6 albums.... that's just me though. Every album Chuck made is a masterpiece but to me The Sound of Perseverance is in last place in my opinion only because of Painkiller which is the only song I never cared form

I'd say ITP and Human are objectively the best but TSOP definitely has the most effort put into it, its the most interesting and fun album by Chuck. The Fragile Art of Existance is also on the same level. TSOP is just a hit or a miss, its just perfect but some people dont like it, for some reason.

Back in the day I was huge Death fan (since 1996), Human, ITP, Symbolic all were superb, top notch music. But Sound… was kind of too much in everything, over-produced, over-thought, too perfect to the extent it lost sincerity, big corporate metal. That Priest cover, that interviews of hard-rock roots… Then I switched to bigger real things that actually were going on (Emperor, Cradle of filth, Dimmu, Immortal, Summoning to name the few - but northern hyperblast of Canada as well). Unfortunately Chuck died, but it happens all the time.
