Love my 14-inch MacBook Pro, performance is excellent and battery life is phenomenal, and the mini LED screen is awesome - it's almost my favorite laptop (nothing will beat my old ThinkPad T420 though that thing was awesome). But there is still something I miss about being able to upgrade and replace parts during the life of the laptop. Maybe if I could replace the SSD, RAM and the battery I would have been able to buy a base model, saved some money, and done the upgrades myself like I could a decade ago. Apple aren't the only ones guilty of that though, same thing is happening in the PC market too, though Apple is still the worst as they serialize everything so you can't replace anything without taking it to an "authorized" repair shop or having access to the right software.
Definitely agree with you there. I still daily drive a 2012 MacBook Pro lol. Hopefully we’re en route towards an upgradeable apple silicon machine, but that does seem too hopeful at this stage… I guess we’ll see what changes when the replaceable batteries phone law comes into play.

If apple didn't solder the storage then I could get onboard with you
