If you love this, I would suggest the Divine Conspiracy and Design Your Universe from the same Retrospect show.
I hated growling until I got into Epica, now I love it, especially how they use it as a contrast to Simone’s heavenly vocals.

Hi, Zoey. Since i saw your tears in your first reaction of Epica, I knew this band is totally for you. Like you, i was unable to consider listening a song with growls until Epica arrive and they became my favorite band. They are'nt only "the beauty and the beast" like many thinks, they express the duality of consciousness (light and darkness), the growls (Mark Jansen) express what is deep inside us and the clean voice (Simone Simons) is how we act accordingly.
I can suggest a lot of songs but if you continued from this 10th anniversary Retrospect show, the best option is "Design your Universe", not only because (for me) is the best performance between the band, the orchesta and choirs but they matched with my first lines.

If you enjoy Epica, well then you'll in for a treat. They have 8 studio albums, currently working on their 9th album, several live concerts etc. They have soaring ballads, heavy songs and everything in between. You could continue with some live songs from this 10th anniversary Retrospect show where both songs you reacted to were taken from. Popular songs from this show are also Unleashed (no gruns in this one) or Design Your Universe. There are about 28 songs from this show, it's all good. It's from 2013 so a visit to a more recent show , Omega Alive, ( a live stream from 2021) is also highly reccommended. Listen to In all Conscience or Kingdom of Heaven part 3 from that show..Basically you could choose random songs from their catalog ( over 120 songs to choose from, not every song is available live ofcourse) it is all good.
A very popular song with more grunts is Consign to Oblivion, the live version from Zenith in Paris . It's quite a heavy song though.

I like the fact that so far you have reacted to 2 great Epica songs that are not the usual Epica ongs that people react to. So as a possible continuation o that road, I suggest you check out "Dancining in a Hurricane", another unederrated Epica song. It contains growls, but only a little. Great reaction Zoey! If you're starting to get into growling, you might want to try another band, Eluveitie. They're a folk metal band, and the ONLY metal band with a hurdy gurdy in it. Try them, you might be surprised!

If you like soft growling, you should also try After Forever (Floor Jansen first band) with Dreamflight, live at Progpower Usa 2007

Nigthwish is more pop metal than Epica, so it always has more votes from all the pop fans. Epica performed 2 songs live with Floor, so these Floor/Nightwish fans will always suggest or vote for those 2 songs, only because they want to see Floor, not because they care about Epica.
You won't see these Floor bots recommending any other Epica songs. In fact, they are already suggesting more Nightwish below your last Epica reaction...

I was never a fan of growling until I heard Floor do it.
It wasn't the growling I didn't like, it was the whole song with growling.
When it's in parts, like this or with Nightwish, or Jinjer, I enjoy it!

Thanks for doing this reaction quickly but... How hard is it to pay full attention to what people recommend?
There is a good reason why I suggested STUDIO version and not live for this song. This is one of the worst mixed songs from the Retrospect. There is an epic choir in the studio version, which you are totally missing in the live version because Simone is singing over them.
8:52 - you can see the male choir singing, but you can't really hear it. Compare this part of the song to the studio version and hear for yourself.
9:30 - even worse... just drums and guitars, while the choir is totally drowned in the mix. How do people don't mind that and still suggest the live version??
Now the chorus.
The chorus in the studio version features beautiful operatic head voice from Simone, while in this live performance she's belting it in her chest voice. Not the same vibes. Listen to the studio and wait for the chorus. That's absolutely gorgeous! Her beautiful operatic vocals are something else.
Guitars and drums don't have as much "punch" as they have in the studio version.
I prefer this version because the orchestra bring the music if the song to another whole level. Sadly yes the choir is too low but i don't mind too much cause i hear them even if it would be nicer to hear them more.
I find the studio version more flat on all except the choir work.
Think it depends on taste and what resonate more for each of us. For me i don't understand why people suggest studio version. But i Can understand what u prefer. Have fun with our lovely group epica ❤

Not sure what do you not understand because I think I explained it very well in the first post:
1.Choir
2.Simone's beautiful head voice, which is completely missing in the live version
3. She sings over the choir and uses a lot of back-phrasing, totally different from the original
4. Guitars and drums are not so powerful in the live version
For comparison, "Unleashed" live sounds great, both the Retrospect and AFAS versions.
