Well for one you can’t get the F if you do that, it has no built in graphics. Do you really need a bleeding edge K-class cpu if you’re just using it to learn code and not gaming with it? I’d take a long hard look at older builds you could get away with buying instead. It’s a pretty common Craigslist find to get a tower with everything but the gpu in it for pretty cheap, in your situation that’d be perfect

In theory that would not be only reason disabling the cores can help. If you had a some multi core beast, let's say 16 core, you could disable half of the worst performing cores and get higher stable overclock at 8 cores. In today's gaming that should do better than the lower clocking 16 core.
I don't say that it's a smart thing to do or that the difference would be big, but still it's technically possible

Both AMD and Intel do exactly that during production process. If some cores are damaged, or perform under the specified target, they'll just be disabled, and the CPU would be sold as a lower tier one. Some i7s were supposed to be i9s, some Ryzen 5s were supposed to be Ryzen 7s, etc.
I believe there are some specific motherboard and/or BIOS versions that will allow you to re-enable those cores, although it's not really recommended to do so.

You can go into task manager and pin the game to only use specific cores. (CPU Affinity)

    • @AliceC993
      @AliceC993 Год назад

Power supplies only actively use as much power as they're giving, but the 80 PLUS rating is a general range of efficiency. Bronze indicates 82-85% efficiency, so your actual consumption at the wall will be higher than what your PC hardware is actually using, depending on the efficiency of the power supply. Also take note that this value changes according to the percentage of load the PSU is under; most are at their best between 50-80%.

I recommend that you get at least something basic, like a gt 1060 or rx 580 or something. For the psu, get around 650w or more, and you can select any one from the psu tier list.

E-Cores handle background tasks while performance Cores handle the more demanding tasks, the addition of E-Cores should in fact increase performance, but some games are horribly optimised, it isn't the fault of Intel.

Anything that has Full Lane PCIe x16. Just don't buy a GPU with physically PCIe x8.
For example, the entire RTX 20 series should be good. But RTX 30 entry level only have PCIe x8, so it's not good. Also entry level Radeon not good.
All you have to do is pay attention to PCIe Lanes used by the GPU, and you're good to go

@@WCGwkf You can do this by editing the shortcut to the game:
%ComSpec% /C Start "Process Name" /High /Affinity Hex "Path to game"
where Hex can be found by:
      0 times amount of E-Cores
1 times double the amount of P-Cores
      convert binary to Hex
      For 12600K: 0000111111111111 in Hex is 0FFF
Example for Star Citizen on 12600K:
      %ComSpec% /C Start "RSI Launcher" /High /Affinity 0FFF "C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\RSI Launcher\RSI Launcher.exe"
EDIT: For some reason this only works if task manager is running
