That was nice that you slowed down as to not spook the two ladies on the horses, I know how it is when ladies get spooked, the horses probably appreciated it too! LOL! Stay safe!
Thanks for letting me ride with you Brother, Absolutely Love The Windshield Time!!! I’m in really bad health now and can’t get out much but with videos like this it’s the next best thing to being there!!!🤙😎😎 God Bless You And Your Family 🙏😇
Made a run down highway 231 today myself .. Got on at Farlen (5-6 miles south of I-69) down then to Loogootee and Jasper - boy has the north side of Jasper really grown - and on to the cemetery on the south side of Huntingburg.. Decorated my grandparents Lewis. And that is “ low-go-tee “ to us hillbillies ....
Opie looked like he was plotting to make you a sacrifice to those geese. I can't imagine if someone was watching what they were thinking. That was fun. Thank you for the nice, peaceful ride. The roof should be done by Friday so I'll be able to tell the if the pounding is on the roof or in my head. Safe travels, and God bless.
Well explained about old trucks. I don’t even want to imagine how rough got to be to someone with a $3,800 dollars on truck payments only. I figured out that my freightliner gets the job done as long as I take care of them.
Hi there Kurt, how are you? I in the 70s 80s and 90s used to run meat out of those same places but I think they were called Iowa beef Packers back then and Kansas beef packers but those screws that keep loosening up on you if you just throw some Loctite on them They probably would not loosen up anymore and you would still be able to remove them later on if you had to the cave that you were in last week, that was very interesting to me. I have never been in that one, but I am subscribed to you for although five months now are used to love running my reefer back in the day. I had back surgery and I am handicap now I cannot walk but I do drive around in a handicap vehicle so hang in there brother I’ll be watching.👍👍
The hell with them Kurt. They will never understand the late night windows cracked just a hair listening to the pipes sing and the turbo whistle!! I'm in a plastic truck now and yeah I don't have break downs near as often but man I would give it up for a hood in a heartbeat... they will never understand. Keep on truckin
Hi. My name is Bill n I’m like you in a way. Please KEEP this truck she’s a real looker!! I do envy you driving this beauty . My wife and I always pick out the best trucks n they seem to be mostly the older ones that we love most. So please just keep up what ever maintenance you have to do she’s a eye catcher . I wish maybe so day we get to see you driving around and would love to have some pictures with my wife and I standing with such a beautiful truck just like you have in the back round 🤗. We live in southern New Jersey near exit two the turnpike . N May the lord be with you wherever you go !!
The 1 and only time I went through St. Louis was in 1987, I was 22 yrs old, on my way to Casper Wyoming from Ohio. Driving an old Hornet with a broken hatchback and a hole in the front passenger floor. Cant remember the route I took, looked a lot different than it does now. Eight months later i drove back home to Ohio. Driving back home I was at ease,,driving amongst the truckers, I was alone. There was one guy that had Ohio plates, so I thought i'd follow him for a while. I love traveling the roads.
KURT DONT PETTY THE SWEATY & SWEAT THE PETTY ! YOUR TRUCK IS BEAUTIFUL I AGREE I WOULD NEVER GO IN DEBT !! YOU DO YOU YOU TAKE OF YOU & 1ST CLASS !! BE BLESSED !!
First class is an awesome truck. You couldn't imagine the junk cab overs my Dad and I used to take cross country in the 80s. Lol. Would love to have had something like First Class!
You guys are in my neck of the woods all the time, southern IN. Will be awesome to catch u and opie passin on the road someday, safe wishes for u and ur family!
I used to reseal differentials all the time when I worked at Freightliner. If you had a Jack of some kind to support the weight that would make it easy enough for you to do yourself. Just gotta control the fluid spill
1st Class is a working 🚛 . Her job is to get you down that super slab as safe as possible. Earn you and your family a few 💸 and get you back at home safely to be at home with your family. B SAFE Mr SCHIMDT 🚛 💨 💨 💨 💨
I know that place. I was over there about a month ago. Lite load of turkey to Chicago. I left there and ran over to Haubstadt to see my sister and do a 34
Kurt you better hope like hell that rear seal doesn't go out, or it could totally screw up, and lock up your whole rearend! Plus it could wallow out, and chew up every gear in your rearend! What you need to do is, get up under there, and see if you can manually shake the cupling where the driveshaft mounts onto it! If you can move it even just a hair (because those seals are machine pressed), in there, and there's not supposed to be any movement whatsoever, then you best get somewhere in a hurry! Good luck!...🤔👍
Output seal on a differential is pretty easy actually. Just got to drop the driveshaft, remove the yoke, pop the old seal out and put the new one in. If you do it yourself you may have to get creative to install it. Lol Even if the horses are use to traffic, those riders still greatly appreciate it!!!!
Man i agreed with i Kurt , i can't imagine paying that kind of money for a truck u r working for the truck that's why they make replacement parts b safe
Yes it a pinion seal you drop the drive shaft and you undo the cover that holds the seal go to a bearing or shop that sell seals take the old one it may have a part number on it to match up tap the new one in and bolt it all back together not to hard to do hardest part is getting the drive shaft out if it been there a while
Kurt,I love the sound of that TURBO . Back in the day ,my wife & I had a 1979 Pete with a440hp DETR0IT TWIN TURBO we loved that truck!! Also you right about north and south Indiana. We live in NWI about 30miles from CHICAGO.. Southern Indiana is like night & day form the north... Stay safe, see me next time!!! 👍👌🤙
Kurt, I have driven several First Class style trucks in the past. Sure miss it. Came off the road full time several years ago. I'd get a call from a friend once in a while if his driver got the holiday flu. I also used to ride horses. Slowing down for the riders shows the kind heart you have. I appreciate you hauling the goods for us. Take care, and be safe.
Kurt, you did have a 4 month vacation off from trucking, had plenty of time to get your rear end seal fixed since it was leaking before you stopped trucking & you knew about it.
I remember back when my wait time and layovers were spent changing filters, cleaning in and out, checking fluids and filling them, scraping and greasing the fifthwheel, and all the other fun stuff. Almost forgot using the wadding to polish the aluminum on the tanks and trim. Did a lot of California runs and seemed like if your rig looked good they didn't tend to want to do an inspection so much. When you're running your own truck there's never a lack of things to do.
Love your videos and your style. Great family you have. Stay healthy. Love your dogs. People who treat their animals like you folks do are good people.
In my yard you will find one 2012 Toyota Highlander with only 48,750 miles. It is spotless inside and out. It is my wife's car bought new in 2012 when she retired. At the time a lot of money being a limited model. $42,000. I have always kept my wife in a up to date car and maintenance to the max. Yesterday 5.23.23 we had a water pump put on it at a cost of $1,450. Shop time calls for 7to8 hours. A job I did not have a lift required. Our ten year extended warranty ran out last year. Imagine that. The 3.5 V6 has an internal warranty of the engine as long as we own the car and keep up the maintenance. Next to the Highlander are two 1994 pickups. One Chevy and one Toyota. Both run. The Chevy is a project show truck an the Toyota has only 84,000 miles on it. So Kurt, keep on driving First Class. it sure cost a whole lot less to drive than a new one and still looks and sounds great. Jerry
I live about 30 min. from Loogootee I have heard may different pronunciations the locals say Low-goh-tee it almost sounds like Lowgoattee. That 231 is a nice drive down that way.
Kurt, beautiful drive down Indiana country roads. About your Rear diff seal, no matter if Merritor or Dana, you just need the yoke puller, makes life a whole lot easier, works on all Class 8 yokes. If/when you get there, and the bearing is loose, change immediately, Merritor, you evidently can change the bearing carrier, if worn, Dana, no luck. If you leave a Dana, bad, bad juju. It evidently takes out the bearing support (not replaceable, for Dana) a new banjo housing, or a serious welding/machining job, is in your future! No Fun, expensive!!! Unless someone knows more, on that, I'm willing to listen. Best wishes all, from the far North.
I thought You Kurt was the one scared of the geese not Opie LOL. Man i love the sound of your Turbo when it winds up. Safe travels you all. Chook from NZ
You can change the seal without pulling the pumpkin out. You have to drop your driveline and take the yolk nut and yolk off and then pull the seal and replace it and put it all back together
The rear seal can be replaced but check the end play on the yoke and if you feed the goose they will come closer and great video keep up the good work God bless from safe travels
Kurt I love your channel and love first class I watch Trucking Together FSC Trucking Gentry and Son Trucking a few more I love old trucks yes I been around trucks most of my life keep trucking my friend and keep posted videos I will always watch man
I don’t even know if they are in business anymore but I used to run for trans cold express out of Dallas Texas up to New York City and New Jersey. That’s where I lived in Brooklyn New York. I had a cab over at Peterbilt with my own trailer if I can figure out how I’ll send you a picture.
Another night behind the wheel you’re right in 30 minute load turn into 23 hours yes the norm. Hopefully there’s some space between the norms. I think you handled it real well, you handled it very well you know you that was gonna throw you behind so you get in the wheel and start trucking cause you know customer service customer service customer service I hated being late I put up with a lot but I hate being late
Hope you get the seal fixed on the diff. I THINK you can get at the seal without dismantling the whole thing. Seemed like a relatively low key trip this time.
I see 231 in southern Indiana too much! Pick up cabinets and funitire outta Jasper,IN., my company is based just south of there in Ferdinand,IN. Just literally finished my last stop in Florida from my Masterbrand load outta one of the Jasper plants.
I had a neighbor that drove for A company called First Class and the trucks he was running around looked A lot like First Class. They would let him drive his truck home on the weekend, but he had to clan it up. He did an excellent job of it to. I have wondered if that was where your truck started it's life. I think he hauled mostly plastic pellets, From Mt. Vernon, In. up to some place in New York.
Love your videos and your dogs, question what house power do you have in your KW Did you say in one of your videos that it was 600, be safe big guy keep it between the ditches, again be safe keep on trucking
I am into classic cars and bikes 60s-80s so if I was driving I would find an old semi truck from the 70s with the wild paint they did back then, maybe one someone on RUclips did a will it run and fix it up and drive that as my work truck, so if you want some old iron surf RUclips.
Hey Schmidt hope you and Opie are doing well. I know what you mean about the comments because I read some of them sometimes and oh boy (LOL). I follow Alice and Martin also and I think that most of the time it is jealousy. Anyway loved the run from the bullies i enjoyed the laugh. Catch you on the flip side. PEACE ✌.
Hey Kurt, it’s me again the handicap extra truck driver don’t let those assholes bother you but they say they’re probably not even truck drivers. I guarantee it and I’m not sure what rear you have, but most of them have a plate after you take the yolk off the plate unbold, and you can knock out the seal and knock in a new seal.
N ice Ride Kurt. Thanks for Sharing. You probably know by now but Yes just remove the Yoke pry out seal install new one reassemble. Hopefully it's just a tired seal and not worn bearing causing it to leak. Make sure to put a little grease on the lip so not to run dry before oil gets to it. I'm in the St Louis Metro IL area so if ever need assistance anytime day or night reach out. You should have my cell from the Date books. Stay Safe TGP
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 Well it should be But those U joints and that yoke sliding off, have been known to put up a fight. Hopefully you have a friend with a large impact wrench for that pinion nut, and a puller if needed. Other than that it's straight forward Good Luck TGP
Kurt, you’re in a good truck. The new ones have way too many problems. You’re really better off spending money to keep your truck running. You know that because you’ve mentioned it numerous times.
I like the way you take care First Clas witconcern but with love because First Class it's not just a truck is a institution, First Class it's one of the kind, did you see yourself getting another truck to replace First Class, I don't think so, and remember always be comments good or bad, take care yourself and mr. Opi!👍🚛🚘🥇
She's Always First Class to us
That was nice that you slowed down as to not spook the two ladies on the horses, I know how it is when ladies get spooked, the horses probably appreciated it too!
LOL! Stay safe!
Personally I think your truck is in fact, first class and so is this channel.
Thanks for letting me ride with you Brother, Absolutely Love The Windshield Time!!!
I’m in really bad health now and can’t get out much but with videos like this it’s the next best thing to being there!!!🤙😎😎

Great ride along. Nice country and the drive thru the city was nice. You, and Trucking Together are the best. Stay Blessed and safe.

Interesting drive. Thank you. Glad OPIE was with you in case of a MAJOR attack.
I use to pick up at Far Best Foods. They were a quick pick up. Nice place to go.👍

I went to the top of the arch many years ago. I am surprised it is not lit up at night more than it is.
Pinion seal-and yes-you can do it without gutting the rest of the diff.
You can change the seal without pulling the pumpkin out. You have to drop your driveline and take the yolk nut and yolk off and then pull the seal and replace it and put it all back together
Always like the night time ride! Great video Kurt! 👍👍💯🇺🇸
Always enjoy your viedos Kurt ! Keep the faith 👍

I agree totally
Thank you

Do'nt know what mashing those geese were, but over here in Albion, those Canada's are savage when they've got babbies.
Stay safe young man... Enjoy the trip. fwiw
Hope you get the seal fixed on the diff. I THINK you can get at the seal without dismantling the whole thing. Seemed like a relatively low key trip this time.

I like the way you take care First Clas witconcern but with love because First Class it's not just a truck is a institution, First Class it's one of the kind, did you see yourself getting another truck to replace First Class, I don't think so, and remember always be comments good or bad, take care yourself and mr. Opi!👍🚛🚘🥇
Your loved no matter what
