Totally agree! Forgive my frustration with those who had the audacity to end it as they did, totally out of character with Jane Austen. Thankfully this video helps but a second season correcting the ending of the first season is an absolute must.
Never showed me any real love connection between Charlotte and Sidney for me to think this is how something should have ended and which never actually happened after a devastating betrayal?? Quite frankly there is nothing calming about this kind of thinking!

I read the producers were planning to continue Charlotte and Sidney into season 2. They were working on the renewal of the show when Theo said he would not return. The producers said they would naturally have him in season 2 as he was the hero. What a shame Theo didn't wait to see the show was renewed. I think he was perfect as Sidney and would have enjoyed seeing the love continue.
I can understand the cliffhanger @ end of Episode 8, IF, & ONLY IF, they write & produce Season 2, so that these incredible characters and their stories are brought to fruition. @ITV, @MasterpiecePBS - you must finish #Sanditon! To not do so is unconscienable. #SanditonSeason2

I also love Young (James) Stringer...love the man he is and how he loves Charlotte and respects her...talks directly and lovingly toward her...Places his hand over his heart after he dances with her... But I have come to love Sidney, too, as he has evolved... I can see her happy w/either... But I know her heart is w/ and for Sidney... Here after watching season 2, episode 1. I knew he wasn't coming back, but wow. The story line is crazy. This would've been a great ending. Perhaps if the stars would've aligned, we'd have a season of him trying to get out of the agreement with Eliza and perhaps vying for Charlotte's hand with another suitor. Then he would have been the ultimate victor. Idk. Well, I can't wait to see what they do with the next 2 seasons. I hope they don't make us wait until the end of season 3 for Charlotte's HEA.

Im still so frustrated and irritated by the hash-up that has ocurred with regard to this beautiful work of Jane Austen as her last masterpiece and it is a gift to us as a lsdt memory of her. It is clear that her intention was to develop the characters of Charlotte and Sidney and to bring them together despite the obstacles and hindrances. Its highly unsatisfactory as it is now and Theo James has made a most disappointing and selfish decision. He is an executive producer of the series as well - surely this should make him care about it a bit more? I have no interst in seeing a 2nd season or 3rd. Whatever happens to Charlotte now will not ring true when the whole of the 1st season was focused on her growing love for Sidney. Most disappointing!

Having loved Jane Austin’s books all my life, and re read them , I cannot understand such an ending. It is obvious from the beginning how Austen would have ended her novel and the folk who took the liberty to finish the book, totally ruined a beautiful story. Sidney and Charlotte are destined for each other as was Elisabeth and Darcy. They should have added two more episodes and given it an Austen ending. These novels are not seasons, there are episodes.
You are so right. Jane Austin would want Charlotte and Sidney to live happily ever after. Just as Darcy and Lizzy did. Why Theo James didn't want to remain on the show is a mystery. I believe he could have married Charlotte and then spent time away to reduce his appearances. But I guess the producers were angry so they killed him off. Not one shot of him from season one...only his voice. That shows they were very angry at his departure. What a shame. The kiss between him and Charlotte was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Theo is very handsome but I believe he made a mistake leaving. Watched season 2. It has its good points but Sidney not there is a loss.

@@judithadams6599 Don't be discouraged. Watched all 6 episodes of season 2. Although I wish Theo James had not decided to leave, the story continues for Charlotte. There is a future for her. More characters are added. Including Charlotte's sister Allison. The show remains romantic and it seems season three will be as well.
There is an interview online with one of the producers. She explained that they had hoped for a series and of course Sidney and Charlotte would end up together. But the show had low ratings and was cancelled, and when they finally were able to make season 2 and 3, Theo James declined to continue the part. They simply had to kill him off as a recast wouldn't work, and they developed a new storyline to be able to go forward. The original concept was "after a lot of hardship... happy ending", true to Austen. So this video is absolutely justified 🥰
I totally agree. JA would have had Sidney and Charlotte marry. However, season 1 was canceled. I guess Theo saw that renewal didn't seem possible. He didn't want to take a chance and end up with no other options. As for the writers I agree, one more episode could have had S and C marry. Then if the show was canceled Sidney could have gone to the W Indies to help Georgiana and caught yellow fever. That would have at least allowed the couple to be together for a short while and endedvseasin 1 properky. That would have allowed Theo to leave on a better note. I would think the writers were angry and just didn't want to give Theo any more screen time. Hope this makes sense.

How long must we devotees to Jane Austen wait for a proper ending to her novel? Does Davies et al realize the distress that they have caused us. Charlotte and Sidney are real people to us, not actors and actresses. Austen wrote six novels of which some of us, if not all have read umpteen times and are word perfect in our favourite ones. It would have been if they had created their own story, with as many seasons as they wanted but to take a novel that belongs to another person and not remain faithful to her memory, is just plain wrong. They made a big mistake and they should admit it and put it right as soon as possible!
What films were used to create this? The one with the child in his arms? I’ve not seen this one. Again, this makes my heart glad to watch this. The ending they rightfully deserve. Thank you for making this.
The clip of him at 0:05 is from a film called War On Everyone, 0:15 is from the film "Lying and Stealing", the clips at 0:20, 1:20-1:40, 1:50 are from a two part British series (not a film) called A Passionate Woman (this was Theo's first role as an actor)
The show will not be the same without Mr Parker in the upcoming new episodes. I hated the fact that people talk so badly about his character in the early part of the show I'm sure that PBS will not find a better actors who can play Mr Parker for the actress Charlotte I will Greatly missed his role in the show. However don't think I will be watching the new session it's just ridiculous how badly people commented on his character has if Jane Austin was without flaws. The director wrote the play and he act out the role that was given to his character. I'm sure that in real life that Mr Sidney Parker is nothing like his character that he portrait in the show let us keep that in mind friends of PBS by giving Mr Parker a fair chance.

C'est une très belle histoire d'Amour. En espérant que la production puisse nous entendre pour nous permettre de voir cette saison 2 que nous attendons tous avec impatience.
