I knew they were not gonna get married in the final ep but I at least expected them to be like... happy??? That's what I get for shipping something hahaha I'm cursed.
I'm keeping all my fingers crossed this show will get another season and I don't have to live with this agony forever. I really really love them and I haven't loved any ship or show this much in a WHILE so I was really excited about it. I'm gonna need some time to get over this :))))))).

bexy Bby I like to think that after 20+ years of being apart, both of their spouses die and leave them unattached. Sydney writes to her and tells her his wife has died and how he has never stopped loving her (Charlotte). Finally they reunite in their old age and it’s like they never parted.

I think the writer of the first season actually wrote the series so that they would have to do a second season and before s1 even aired he said hopefully the fan response would allow them to carry on. So hopefully we get a second season!!!

It’s ITV (TV channel) faults, they dropped Sanditon before it’s had a chance in the USA, I don’t understand why all tv shows coming out to all countries in the same year, not waiting the year after for the show
Loved the whole series and their kiss was worth the wait, it was gorgeous, but it was only the one. Hope series 2 isn't too far away.

To be honest it felt like the all story has not been told ,usually in Jane Austen's novels main characters experience serious separation to bring them even more closer ,with more respect and love to each other, so let's just wait for Andrew Davis to show his genius manner of resolving this unbearable situation .

We just finished Season 1 and Episodes up to 8. My husband and I enjoyed it all. It's my first time to hear about Jane Austin's unfinished novel. I am fond of her books and to me this story is unique. I think this is the best period drama so far at least for me. It's because of the story, the actors, beautiful settings, beautiful costumes...The actress Charlotte is very interesting and I love the story which was started from the beginning of the season with Sidney, is exciting that you can't help to want to follow the story arc. The ending in Season 1 was not great. I think it's not what would Jane Austin wanted to happen in her book... but I just wish to see a beautiful and happy ending for Charlotte and Sidney or at least for the heroine. To me Theo James is the best actor for this role. At this point I couldn't think of the best love for Charlotte. I think for Charlotte, that is the best ending of the story and seeing her what she becomes and growth. Hopefully in Season 3, we’ll see. It is a definitely a keeper for me.
I hope (if there is a season 2) that Sidney doesn't get married to Eliza and he just gets to be with Charlotte
I think Eliza should latch on to Mr. Springer and help him build his dream of finishing Sanditon.

Totally agree with you! I first saw Theo James in a TV police drama called Golden Child... which didn't last a long time. But I was like how could they cut such wonderful talent. In that show he had an American accent... I never suspected that he had actually was British! He's a very multifaceted actor... and like you said gorgeous...lol!

My husband said something interesting while watching this with me. He said he wished they had cast an older looking actress as the actress playing Charlotte looks like she’s 16 years old while Sidney looks to be in his late 20 to early 30’s so he finds their relationship a bit distasteful. I told him that her character is supposed to be 19 yrs old but he said that’s fine but doesn’t remove the fact that this actress looks like she’s 16 yrs old (to him) and now I can’t unsee what he is saying. 😑

I disagree. My husband and I enjoyed the match very much. We still enjoy Season 2 but not so much the way we experienced the thrill in watching Season 1.
I think age doesn't matter. It's the chemistry and magic they created on screen - 2 Beautiful actors. I don't know if we'll see more of them but by mile, this is the best love story ever for me apart from the ending I don't like. They were so many love story film released in the past decade but these 2 really captured my heart and thoughts - very unique!
I hope some how they would consider to finish with a happy ending , that would be extraordinary.

Je suis une passionnée des romans de Jane Austen. J'ai également lu le roman Sanditon, achevé par Marie Dobbs aux éditions Biblio livre de poche. La suite de l'histoire est selon moi dans l'esprit de Jane Austen, avec une fin heureuse et je l'ai bien appréciée. J'ai suivi aussi avec intérêt la série sur PBS qui est très différente dans le traitement mais non moins intéressante. Je suis très déçue que d'aussi bons personnages et intrigues ne trouvent pas un dénouement heureux, à la manière Jane Austen. I hope there will be a season 2 because as many of you, I am absolutely heartbroken. I can't imagine the story without a happy end.

Knowing how jane austen writes, and how her last work was twisted into what it is now, makes videos like yours all the more heartbreaking to watch.
I had to donate to get a pbs passport to watch all the episodes because I couldn’t wait 3 more weeks. Even though they don’t end up together I still think I can be ok with the ending since we aren’t getting a season 2. I wish the writers didn’t gamble with the ending but it wasn’t a cliffhanger. Sometimes not every love story has a happy ending. Definitely not the way Jane Austin would have finished the book but I still really loved the series.
