I just found your channel I subbed to your channel your lagoon looks really nice and the tangs looks so good and thick and look really healthy and happy, I am building a fish room in my basement this spring/summer it's my project for this year I am building a lagoon kinda like yours but mainly for sharks rays and some tangs. thinking maybe 8-12 feet long and 5 feet wide 30-36 inches high with a shallow end being like 20 inches for the size of the lagoon tank, I am going to custom build it just not sure if I am going to use pond liner or fibre glass and pond shield to seal it. Probably going to pond shield it , Just trying to figure out how I am going to round out the corners if I don't end up rounding the corners I can train my sharks with air stone at the corners of the tank so they learn to avoid the corners to prevent them from getting maybe hurt ,sharks will avoid the air stone bubbles so that's an idea if I don't round out my corners in the lagoon
Bob Rasmussen ya I will do the whole build on RUclips after seeing yours and a few others lagoons in the basements made me decide to go ahead with the lagoon project I have a beautiful female marbled cat shark I want to relocate to the lagoon once it's up and running, I really like your lagoon and I know I would really like one as well over another large tank I have a 150 gallon reef tank now on hold with corals cause my shark in the tank I have a few corals in the reef ,so it would be nice to have a reef tank with the lagoon pond
This is awesome, I love how natural it looks. I want to get into keeping reef tanks someday but it's all fresh water till then. Feel free to check out my aquarium videos though. Have you thought about putting some mangroves in there? Im interested in growing some in my fresh water system. I actually found this video while researching mangroves.
I feel like you can generally keep multiple of any species in a single tank as long as there is enough space as well as food source, despite purchase descriptions.
Yes. In a previous comment on another video he says the cost to build the lagoon was only about $300 and its about 400 gallons. Just to build it can be done under 500 depending on if you can get the materials cheaply enough or already have them.
i would sugest going with a rounded corner or ends set up if they are large sharks, so they do not bump into corners. if they are the smaller banded sharks this set up would be fine.
Daniel Dickel if you don't round out the corners in your lagoon build for sharks you can use air stones, and put them in the corners for awhile the sharks will avoid the bubbles coming from the air stone and over time they will learn the flow and the tank size then you can remove the air stones from the corners once they are trained to the lagoon or tank I am doing the same thing this summer building a lagoon pond in my basement

I didn't realise you could keep more than one trigger fish.
I feel like you can generally keep multiple of any species in a single tank as long as there is enough space as well as food source, despite purchase descriptions.
This is great, have you thought about adding macro algaes?
yes, i'm afraid my fish would eat it all. i would have to keep it seperate.
Can i do this under 500 dollars?
No
