FULL SPEC
Aquarium spec: 2500 x 800 x 750 high
19 mm Low Iron Glass
2 external weirs
4 Ultra Reef charge returns
Extruded aluminium stand
The heart of the system is the Triton Method
This is monitored by an Alkatronic and Ghl computer.
Lighting consists of 6 Radion XR15 for controlled dawn till dusk, with 8 x Reefbrite XHO to give a blanket cover of light.
Skimming is accomplished with a Ultra Reef UKS 250 DC skimmer.
Al99 phosphate media and Triton Carbon are run in two Ultra Reef UFF-003 Media reactors.
The water circulation is powered by a Abyzz A400
A Teco 2000 chiller is plumbed in to an outdoor storage area, to keep the heat stable all year around.
ICP and N-doc analysis are carried out on a regular basis.
The fish are fed with Aquarium Connections own range of frozen foods.
Live rock and reef bones were used for aqua scaping.

Absolutely stunning!! Love the fact that it has a “minimalistic” look leaving plenty of room for the fish to swim, the coral to grow and for the eye to focus on certain focal points. Beautiful and modern reef tank with a beautiful cabinet and setup which is also a very important part. A visual pleasure. Amazing. Can’t wait to see this tank mature further...
The “price” to pay to reach this level of tank is too high… be aware new reefer! This is not for free at all. Money a lot! time a lot (more than money) and in the end… the tank will own you and not the opposite 😂😂😂…
Normally salt water aquariums don’t do anything for me, but that one is incredible.

How much it costs
Totally feel that comment, been trying for years to convince the missus on the room divider aka marine or freshwater, not having any of it! Though in her defence, I have 3 tanks dotted about the house, she draws the line for the living room. I’d rather have the tank and use London transport!

It’s a very nicely designed Reef. Requires a lot of restraint to not fill the Reef with every coral under the sun.
I love it, this aquarium is my dream.
May it last 27 more years. Another great example of an adult aquarium and a person who can say "no" to overstocking and the aquatic Ark look. It would be great if he didnt add one more thing for the next five years at least.

No, that's not a beatiful reef tank, they're incredibly rare. This is a provocation, of course, but also my honest opinion.
Reef aquascaping is in its infancy at best when compared to freshwater aquariums.
There's an opportunity here for you. I guess it's difficult to dive deep into reef aquascaping because the growth is much slower and the maintenance complexity is much higher, but at the same time, it's practically virgin land.
Some of the knowledge of freshwater aquascaping can easily be transported into saltwater, which can give you a good head start. I would suggest a collaboration with a very experienced reefer to help making it a smoother ride.
A good starting point could be emulating a iwagumi setup with just 2 or 3 species of easy and fast growing corals.
Come on George, give it a go.

M Pi actually I found out that once you get it dialed in with all the parameters (tricky) the actual maintenance work is LESS than the equivalent fresh water tank. Just the fact that you don't have to do 30-50% water changes is a HUGE relief. Also no filter tanks to be taken apart (with various media), cleaned and assembled back.
But they are expensive indeed...by a magnitude vs freshwater.

M Pi Reefkeeping is not a hobby for the poor... although I have seen some very beautiful nano aquariums that are considerably less to set up and maintain than a tank like the one in the video. Once a tank is stable and good growth had, you can usually make a little bit back from it by selling frags from the coral growth to local hobbyist or your LFS’s.

Hi George, great video, beautiful tank. My guess is that you are still considering a reef tank for the new improved GFS , cant say i blame you. The corals have a movement that is much the same as the plants we use and the awesome colours and variety of fish available is something that always impresses me. It’s just the maintenance and care that stops me setting one up . All the best ,Martin

Not to mention the electric bill for all those lights, filtration equipment, controller, heater, etc.
I'm guessing this is about a 350 gallon tank. With everything it appears he has included (liverock, fish, corals), plus installation & equipment, I would estimate the initial upfront cost was probably around 12-14k. I'm basing this guess off of my own cost for my 60 gallon reef tank.

About the aquariums, they only show you how beautiful they look but they never talk about what it takes for the maintenance.
I have a 10 gallon tank n I barely keep my fish alive in that. I’m sure they hire ppl to come n help maintain it
