The report from the officer says that he "attached HIMSELF to the vehicle and was dragged 10-15 yards" at which time he was injured and clothes damaged. The video does NOT support the officer's report. The video shows that the officer was aggressive and assaulted Scheffler's vehicle. This is an embarrassment for Louisville. A dishonest cop and an unjust felony charge. Ridiculous
This is a prime example of an Officer losing complete control of his judgement and emotions. For a person who just got dragged by a car, he sure moves just fine. His actions and his Police Report do not match up and the video shows a different story. Louisville PD has a problem.
The death has nothing to do with the Scheffler issue. The mayor opening with that is manipulative and conflates the two SEPARATE issues and confuses the public on what exactly transpired. These police departments have no idea when to shutdown something like this and walk away. Idiots. Drop the charges and move on. How many of these public affairs debacles do they have to go through to learn when to get off the TV before the PD becomes the story instead of the original arrested individual.
I'm thinking the guy in the yellow jacket tripped on the curb and then became embarrassed thus deciding to "get even" and run after the vehicle and proceeded to make a spectacle of the situation. I guess once he saw who was driving, he was thinking he might could make some money off this incident, how else could you perceive the man in yellow jacket's actions. In the 2nd video....You can see 2 cars clearly making the EXACT SAME LEFT TURN Scottie was trying to make, unbothered by police....HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, we have police dash cam footage of Scottie Scheffler being led away in handcuffs. With all of those police’s cars present at the scene due to the fatal pedestrian accident, why is there no dash cam video of the Scheffler incident showing the assault on the cop? Or video footage from other officers body cams who were on the scene. Because the “assault” never happened. IMHO
The cop needs to go to prison for falsifying a report. The copper tripped and fell and is pretending he was assaulted. Shameful. edit: you can see the pathetic excuse for a "cop" running the car down ... never was "dragged". So disgusting. Scheffler should sue the cop and the city into oblivion.
If the officer had actually been "dragged" by the car and fell down, it would have been more than just him running up to stop his car. The officer was the only one chasing the car and stopping it. Other officers only arrive when they get him out of the car.
Some how none of this footage backs up the Detective. Nor do you see his pants damaged on the camera view. These people are treating Scottie differently. They will not admit a mistake.
Police who are confused when its dark and rainy should proubly stay home until the sun comes up so thier body cam works better.Transparency is important to the mayor so no questions at the so called press conference and can't release any video we may or not have
This video does not agree with the officer's account. There is one salient point IMO: If Scottie rebuffed the LEO and simply drove away, why would Scottie then stop when he heard the LEO yelling and running at him from the left? That is a strange way of resisting the officer by stopping the car. Clearly, there was a misunderstanding. And clearly the LEO is not telling the truth.
@@karinaz8756 They were until that police car video showed up and it is clear enough to see that the officer misrepresented what happened at the critical point. And combining that with the fact that he did not have his body camera on, the city will lose. But let's say they win on some portion of their charges, then they will certainly get sued. Loss of reputation for a guy with billions in earning potential. I can't imagine how big the verdict would be. If they drop the charges and just say they are sorry for the misunderstanding, Scheffler (who does not need the money) would likely not sue and let the matter drop.
Just curious... the video of the actual incident was blocked by a bus. Were there people in the bus? It seems like they would have had an excellent vantage point. Even if the bus were empty, it seems there must have been a driver. But no witnesses of the incident have come forward?
The bus was an ESPN bus, one of the reporters on the bus got out and started taking video with his phone, he said it looked like the cop grabbed the door handle or something and tripped & fell. Looks like the car moved about 10 feet.
Why would they release an edited video? All that does is introduce questions. Also, when exactly was the cop dragged...? Looks like the car is in exactly the same place the entire time.
What's wild is there are several witnesses who dispute the cop's account and they're still going forward with arraignment (the prosecutor argued against a standard scheduling delay without really explaining why). A regular person without the resources and media attention would have to take a plea deal in order to avoid potential prison time and the financial burden of paying for a quality defense. A plea deal would have life altering ramifications effecting who will hire you, potentially where you can live, your ability to get personal or business loans, your ability to own a firearm and vote, and on and on.
Where was the officer "Attached to the vehicle"? At no point did the vehicle drag him along as he stated. He ran up and jumped into the air and hit the window. That's all I see here. So not only was he not recording, we now have video evidence that he lied in his report. And what exactly was the "Disciplinary action" taken? I'm guessing a conversation that gets documented in his personnel file? I'm a big fan of law enforcement usually, and being willing to stand in the way of danger is a kind of bravery I admire, but this isn't that. This cop is a problem. I can only imagine the sort of things he's done to others who weren't a celebrity...
You hit the nail on the head with that one. If this is what happens in a high profile case with eyes on it, how does this department handle small cases that nobody sees? After all the flack they got for trying to cover-up the Bre'onna Taylor incident a few years back, clearly nothing has changed at the Louisville PD.
@@Alex_Mac_ there are so many layers to this. Think about all of the money the city will now lose. If I’m the PGA, I’m never coming back. There is an obvious edit of the film! It goes from one officer at his door to Scotty out of the car with several surrounding him. Where is the missing several seconds?
All those cop cars had their dash cams on and facing where the incident happened, yet they conveniently use the footage furthest away. You can clearly see other cars much closer facing where the incident happened.
To anyone watching on your smart phone you can pinch zoom to see the footage closer up. The cop runs to the car window and trys to smash it in immediately.
Wait a minute. It was first reported Scottie drove off for a short distance and hurting an officer. I didnt see his car move at all when he was stopped. hmmm
because it happened on the other side of the bus where you can't see it. this is the officer catching him after falling down as you can tell how angry the officer is
Scottie asked one of the officers to stay with him once he went into the police station. He said this situation was difficult and the officer helped to calm him. I've never heard of someone who was being arrested making a request like this. Why? Was he afraid that the arresting officer was out of control. This officer has a history of multiple disciplinary actions. The fact that all of their body cams were turned off is DEEPLY concerning and seems to be premeditative. It wasnt an accident. It was done deliberately. Why?
At the start of this video, it appears the officer is just getting back to his feet from the ground, no where near the vehicle. So that would suggest, he tripped on his own, over his own two feet and got butt hurt embarrassed and then decided to run after the vehicle and take it out on someone else, so he didn’t look like a fool. This would also explain why the body camera did not get “activated” by the cop. Who would want that recorded
Something had to happen before we start to see the car, behind the bus maybe. I see no dragging to tear detectives pants, but i do see why he had bad wrist as he beat on car window.
In the released video and according to witnesses, Scheffler was taken from the vehicle, pushed against the vehicle, and handcuffed. This video is clearly edited at about that point (note when spectators abruptly appear in the scene). About 1:17 in this video.
they have 6 squad cars on sight that we can see, 1 to two officers per car and your telling me 6-12 cops didnt have there camera's on this entire time?
“We have to respect the legal process” - yeah, that includes turning on your damn camera when you start your days work. Just a minor policy that somehow proves exceedingly difficult for a number of police officers to adhere to. It’s a very simple order to follow, yet we keep seeing these same stories. 🤦♂️
From my perspective Scottie did not commit a crime. However, these 3 golf analysts should not be evaluating a police matter on the air. Show the video and say nothing more. Let the city, police and attorneys do their jobs and report the outcome. This isn’t within a golf analyst’s realm of expertise.
All I see is an officer running toward the car, which stopped before the officer touched it, and then slamming his own arm onto the windshield. The officer was not dragged, and the only injuries he could have possibly had were from his own actions.
I find it so strange that the police would hold a press conference with the almost the sole purpose of dropping their own in the grease and practically not even address Scottie Scheffler at all. Bizarre
You guys are dancing around this issue. First the detective HAS to have his body worn camera operating second there was no dragging of the officer and finally his aggressive demeanor only escalated because of his bruised ego. They should drop charges and move on.
Your video has been edited. Why? It doesn't show Scottie being slammed up against the car like the original video shows. You also skipped the part where Gillis runs up to Scottie's car from a very wide intercept angle, there is no way the cop was dragged.
Cop needs to be fired for lying on a police report. Everything he said was a flat out lie. This is exactly the type of cop that gives police a bad name.
So, did any of those other people (seen clearly on camera) stood near the scene of the incident hear or see the Dicktective fall over/get dragged?.. and if so.. why not rush to his aid?... Very strange. Looks to me like he just ran after the car after it drove slowly past him. 😂
Anytime an Officer "Fails to activate their body camera", their written and verbal statements should be disregarded. Only evidence and testimony from independent witnesses, other police officers should not be considered independent, should be admitted.
WOW, you should watch Pat McAfee video of it --- he zoomed in (from the pole camera) and then you can see and work out that the policeman is not really being honest about it all.
That video certainly doesn't show "the officer attaching himself" the the car, nor does it show him being "dragged" or tumbling to the ground. It sure is convenient that the cop's bodycam wasn't activated. I don't know how the bodycams work - are they self recording like wearing a small camera or are they transmitting the feed to some other data storage device that cannot be manipulated by the wearer?

Whispering to the PGA. Find a Different Venue for a Tournament.
My mind wanders...It is said that the officer "did not turn on the body cam", could this be because the footage does not align with what was stated by the officer and was the basis of the arrest? I mean, that is one way to get out an unlawful arrest, right? An overreaction led to a unwarranted arrest, after which a superior officers reviewed the "non-footage", and then making a decision to say the camera was not on. If there was just a vehicular homicide shortly prior, wouldn't that naturally trigger every officer into hyper-diligence mode?
I didn’t see the cop be dragged like they had reported. Looks like a power trip bc the dude can’t handle his own emotions. Charges will be dropped for sure.
They know they’re getting sued, so they won’t drop the charges.. Just tell them you’re adding zeros to the settlement with every bad faith move you make..
That pole video was spliced. Near the end you can see it. It goes from the one cop at the car instantly to about 4 or 5 cops. There’s a part that’s missing.
I think the did that to shorten the video. The whole clip is out there and the guy that was “brutally dragged” is standing at his window for a minute or two before he tried opening his door through the window. The only thing that is blatantly obvious is that the detective wasn’t dragged. He ran after the car then smashed the window with his flashlight. Something isn’t adding up. The officer’s statement is laughable.

Make that policy/law and these cameras will stop getting "accidentally" cut off or malfunctioning.
The cameras need to be made so that they are not able to be shut off while on duty. With today's technology it should not be an issue.
They don't want to pay for all that storage
@@MMm-ug6onbetter than taxpayer money lining a millionaires pockets cause the pd is incompetent

Well the mayor worships the manora so already a pos
IMHO
Wow!! Officer Gillis recovered so quickly! He was right back up on his feet in no time! Too bad we can't see his impressive recovery skills!
Not to mention the total non reaction to it from the other officers in the immediate area....
The mayor basically just dropped the officer in the grease. That defense atty is going to have a lot to work with.
I always loved the term “in the grease”.. lol.. Used your way, or our way..
We called getting in big action at the pool hall “in the grease”..
After a suspension, he DOESN'T want to be in court, but now, he WILL be sued into bankruptcy, and he earned it too
The cop needs to go to prison for falsifying a report. The copper tripped and fell and is pretending he was assaulted. Shameful.
edit: you can see the pathetic excuse for a "cop" running the car down ... never was "dragged". So disgusting. Scheffler should sue the cop and the city into oblivion.
perhaps because the officer was already dragged down prior to this where you can't see the initial incident because of the bus
Where's your proof?
@@AD-eb7ft They all had their body cams off.....what a coincidence.
@@morriswatkins5667 Well, Darlington, who did see it, said the officer latched himself onto the car.
@@isbilly1 In violation of department policy.
If the officer had actually been "dragged" by the car and fell down, it would have been more than just him running up to stop his car. The officer was the only one chasing the car and stopping it. Other officers only arrive when they get him out of the car.
This incident could happen to anyone. By making an improperly instructed left turn, you might get handcuffed and arrested. Just stay out of Kentucky.
Some how none of this footage backs up the Detective. Nor do you see his pants damaged on the camera view. These people are treating Scottie differently. They will not admit a mistake.
This video does not show the officer being hurt, and it shows the officer running after the vehicle - which means he was not hurt.
I hope this cop is beyond embarrassed
Free Scottie Scheffler
😂😂😂
This exonerates Scottie and the only question is whether Scottie wants to file a lawsuit.
That’s why the charges won’t get dropped. The cops are trying to save face at this point.
Dragged 20 yds? Sounds like a bag of lies.
Looks like cop threw himself into rearview mirror.
and he did it pants first. the man is an acrobat.
Tried to smash the windscreen it looks like , he swung something at it
Just curious... the video of the actual incident was blocked by a bus.
Espn staff have come forward.
When a cop voluntarily jumps on a car how is that the drivers fault. Especially when a different cop told him to proceed and drive that way.
Why would they release an edited video? All that does is introduce questions. Also, when exactly was the cop dragged...? Looks like the car is in exactly the same place the entire time.
Several seconds of missing video at 1:28. Why cut out the portion of the video where he was removed from the car?
What's wild is there are several witnesses who dispute the cop's account and they're still going forward with arraignment (the prosecutor argued against a standard scheduling delay without really explaining why). A regular person without the resources and media attention would have to take a plea deal in order to avoid potential prison time and the financial burden of paying for a quality defense. A plea deal would have life altering ramifications effecting who will hire you, potentially where you can live, your ability to get personal or business loans, your ability to own a firearm and vote, and on and on.
Lol .. when the cop has his lights on, the dash cam automatically records. Why not release the dash cam from the police cruisers that are closer?
And they still wont drop the charges?
Cops lie. Camera don't
Thank God the pole camera captured the incident. Another cop caught embellishing his report.
Unless there is more we are not seeing the police report seems to be inaccurate, to say the least.
And if I’m the NCAA, I’m also never hosting any March Madness games there ever again. The black eye placed on the entire city by this idiot with a badge will haunt them for a long time.
Who cares about the arrest footage? What needs to be seen is the actual incident footage.
So there is zero evidence he has actually even fallen over, and all the eyewitness testimony seems to support Scheffler's account.
If the charges are not immediately dropped and that officer it fired. Scottie Scheffler should own Louisville KY
Wait a minute. It was first reported Scottie drove off for a short distance and hurting an officer. I didnt see his car move at all when he was stopped. hmmm
Falsifying a police report is a felony, I missed the part where Gillis was dragged. No bodycam. Gillis had previous misconduct on his record.
I don’t see any officer being dragged that’s ridiculous!
because it happened on the other side of the bus where you can't see it. this is the officer catching him after falling down as you can tell how angry the officer is
@@AD-eb7ftahh that makes sense then. Without body cam I’m curious how this all goes down
what a surprise, cops lied
So unless I'm blind I don't see where the cop gets dragged at all. I would like to be known what was said between them.
A two tier justice system. A regular person would have never had this dismissed this quickly.
There is another police car facing forward towards the area we can't see on the other side of the bus. Where is the dash cam video from that cop car?
Wow. No wonder why the body cam wasn’t on.
they have 6 squad cars on sight that we can see, 1 to two officers per car and your telling me 6-12 cops didnt have there camera's on this entire time?
especially when investigating an accident fatality.
“We have to respect the legal process” - yeah, that includes turning on your damn camera when you start your days work. Just a minor policy that somehow proves exceedingly difficult for a number of police officers to adhere to. It’s a very simple order to follow, yet we keep seeing these same stories. 🤦♂️
100% grabass event by copper
That part was obviously blocked from that squad cars view as you see Scottie walk around the other cars into view.
So how far away were they from the actual scene of the accident?
If the story doesn’t look legit, you must acquit.
Cop needs to be fired for lying on a police report. Everything he said was a flat out lie.
This is exactly the type of cop that gives police a bad name.
Where is this alleged "felony assault". Some of these coppers tell fibs.

That officer looks to be running after the vehicle and swinging at at it watch closely

I think the did that to shorten the video. The whole clip is out there and the guy that was “brutally dragged” is standing at his window for a minute or two before he tried opening his door through the window. The only thing that is blatantly obvious is that the detective wasn’t dragged. He ran after the car then smashed the window with his flashlight. Something isn’t adding up. The officer’s statement is laughable.
