- Smoothing the single action trigger pull on a S&W revolver can be a safe and easy job if you have the right tools. Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, explains the process for smoothing the single action trigger pull on a Smith and Wesson revolver using a Power Custom Sear Stoning Fixture. He begins by disassembling the revolver and removing the trigger. Once the trigger is clamped to the fixture and the unit is adjusted for the proper angle, a fine India stone is used to true of the sear surfaces. A bit of layout dye is applied to the sear during this process so that progress can be monitored. Once the surface has been polished, the trigger is lubricated and placed back into the revolver. The final step is to check the trigger pull with a pull gage.

To all of the people complaining that he doesn't show you how to remove the trigger.......If you lack the mechanical skills to remove the trigger, or the common sense to look at the exploded view in the manual, then you're not really the best candidate to be monkeying around with any firearm.
Hi, Good question. It just LOOKS freehand. The rear of the stone is riding the jig to the left off screen.
Need this done for my Pietta 1858 Remington Black Powder Revolver
I as well enjoy these videos but would like a bit more detail. if there is a full length show it would be great to have a link to it.
I think some people are missing the point: these type of postings are more for advertising than education.
@jingles373 agreed.. although I too would prefer they go further into detail, they are trying to run a business, not a charity
Caution! if you "File" through the case hardend finish you will get into the inner softer steel and our your trigger job won't last very long.
A profesional would color case reharden after the stoning.
Larry is trying to sell the product which has instructions. I would warn you and others that it might be this simple, but likely more effort, if only safety checking, will be required. Little gunsmithing can happen in 90 s. This is certainly an overview of 1 step. Buy the Kuhnhausen book for all the steps.
