I GOT A GARBAGE BAG I COVERED UP MY WINDOW AND I GOT SOME SILVER DUCT TAPE..which spelled out "Im going to see my god...OTEP...A SMALL ANARCHY SYMBOL WHICH I HAD JUST ENOUGH DUCT TAPE LEFT TO PUT ON IT . We got to the show I went to the front of the side I couldn't see very well ... And my son punched me in the arm He said Mom turn around!!!! I did slowly cuz I was disoriented a lot of people do that to me sometimes and there were a lot of people as I slowly turned around my son screamed at me again to turn around really loud this time. I did and you were right behind me with the gates between us and you were going on stage. I had gone there just to thank you for being That was before Webster Hall and the other local venues that was the first time. I started to get faded look in my face My son looked at me and said are you all right? And I said yes!!! I told him to listen to your words and if he saw me wandering off to the pit... Don't try to stop me I said!!! I've been in pits for longer than you've been alive I told him. I had the best of time when I saw you the first time and they had an outside place to cool off have smokes whatever I was out there coming back in to see you and one of the security people I guess looked at my face... I don't know if they thought I was high or not but we didn't have enough money for one beer never mind to get high... I turned around and said I'm fine with a big smile on my face I am annihilated . And kept walking back to the show I did have a stupid look on my face but my eyes are all wide My adrenaline is out of control my hair was a mess and I was loving every minute of it. My son never entered the pit which was odd for him I saw him standing just listening to you the band the music seeing all those other people who love your music as well... And then he yelled at me where The fuck were you ma? Did you go in the pit!!?? I told you I was going to go in I replied The last song you did that night I believe this Confrontation... My son was listening I was in the pit again or near putting my foot into it and the show is over after that. And my son said to me you know it wasn't that bad after all it was kind of awesome!!! I just looked at him and said thank you for coming Thank you for listening Thank you for caring enough to share what I love. And don't judge what you don't hear first. And I didn't say another word the long ride back. I don't think I slept for 2 days It was the adrenaline It was the empowerment It was everything the crowd the kids the old school merging with the new school. I am so in awe of the meanings of and the vocabulary you use in your music ...songs. Thank you for the extra years You gave me You don't know how close I came and that was before the cancer. I don't believe in hurting one's self because in doing so you hurt others deeply. Okay I spoken too much I just wanted to let you know how deeply you have affected my life and by doing so affected my son's life as well. Thank you for helping me see my strengths see what's important and what you tell these kids and whoever is listening is the awesome messages that were never permitted to be heard on vinyl or cassettes, eight tracks all those platforms.
