Thanks YOU so much! Your band was one of my first metal bands! Before slipknot even! for me. This is a long way back but. You were taking pictures with fans at q and z in ringle Wisconsin. Idk if he was your manager, but i think he was for sure, a staff member of yours. And he asked if we were in line for pictures with you. And we said we would love to but he had to get home to our kid and I had to work at 7 a.m. the next day.
And he, haha!, "made" us cut EEEEEEVERYONE! To get a picture with you. Idk why. But it was cool as fuck. I felt bad but he told me to not worry about it haha.
This was like 5 or 6 years ago I believe.

I will never forget the first time listening to Otep's record-Servas Tra. Was in high school when it was released and was so blown away by the powerhouse vocals of "Blood Pigs" and "T.R.I.C." I played it for all my friends. The first female lead singer to get me to listen to female fronted bands. Was lucky enough to catch Otep live and followed her music with each release since. Thank you Otep for doing this interview! 🔥🔥🔥

But I like all the members individually and especially the podcast. Garza and Craig Reynolds are killing it in the metal podcast scene.

@@OTEPmusic You are most welcome and am happy you took my comment as the compliment it was meant to be, because I was hoping people didn’t read that wrong because Blood Pigs is hands down my favorite Otep song let alone a top favorite metal song in my arsenal of likes period! Your vocals are absolutely insane! You have always been the real deal! I only meant I have never been a huuuuuge fan like some other people are and to each their own. The world would be a boring place if we all loved the exact same stuff. Honestly you being on this Podcast made me decide to go back and visit OTEP records again that maybe I didn’t give a fair shake too. Sometimes with what is happening in our lives at the time we may just not have had the time etc. Just like these days especially there is so much new music out and with the internet it can become overwhelming with trying to keep up as I am sure you know exactly what I mean ha. I still have albums from 2022 AND 2021 even that I have not had a chance to give full play through to yet. Life gets in the way sometimes ;). We like what we like and I spend a lot of time still going back to older material I love while also trying to keep up with ALL the new stuff that gets released almost daily ha. Also hand down “The End” by The Doors is my absolute most favorite Doors song. I am a combat veteran and my Father is a Vietnam vet, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. My brothers served also, cousins, Aunts Uncles you name it, pretty much every member of my family has served. People chuckle at the comparison we’ll give to the movie Forest Gump because LT. Dan had a member of his family serve and fight in every single American war/conflict but die, and my family is the same only we all survived. Granted lots of Purple Hearts in the family, but we’re blessed to at least have all come home alive. I even have relatives who fought for both the Union and Confederate army’s back in the Civil War. We’ve been in this country for a long time ha 👍 I appreciate your appreciation for our veterans also and thank you to the members in your family who have served as well! Hands down you have one of the greatest metal voices of all time. I was like man I need to go back and revisit some of my old Otep records and checkout the ones I do not have. That happens, I’m 42 years old and there is music that I maybe didn’t like years ago that I love now and so I expect I will make a good Otep Mix again here shortly. This was a great Podcast episode! Stay Rockn! 🤘

@@Magdalena8008sThank you, yes I always try to be reasonable. I actually have never been a huge SS fan either haha and get crap from people for saying my favorite SS album is self-titled with Ross Robinson. I absolutely love the album!🤘Next to The Cleansing, RIP Mitch. That album kills also! Not to razz Garza or anything but Whitechapel was the Deathcore band that drew me in most at the time etc, BUT, BUT, SS’s 2023 album ‘Remember…You Must Die’ I am still jamming! I can’t put a finger on it but something about their latest album just hits me in the gut the right way I like and I think Garza and crew absolutely killed it! 👍🤘I have always liked songs from other albums of theirs also, but I guess just like with what I was referring to with Otep, was just implying I have never been some super huge fanboy is all. Again I know a lot of people would give me crap for saying how much I love their album Ross produced but I don’t care. I love that album, the guitar work in it, the clean guitar tones are all sic. I love when metal bands incorporate cool eerie cleans alongside gnarly distortions. Also I think the vocals are great on that record. Have to remember a lot of my favorite bands are the exact favorites of Garza’s. We’re in that same age bracket. Anyway though, cheers everyone! 🍻🤘🎸🤘👍

I am happy to see her still going strong and sad for the people bashing her. When JD from Korn does what she does, it's one thing, but when she does, it's cringe according to them...
And about physical and emotional relationships - yes, they both exist, and everyone can combine them as they wish. To me, being with your soul is so much more than being with your body. Yes, we could have kids and pass our souls and knowledge onto them, but you can inherit genes from relatives, and also you can inherit ideas from anyone in the world who ever existed and this is also so important.

I am currently watching your interview with Garza , and I have to say , you're a fucking legend and I have mad respect for you. Also, ty for being a such a positive role model in the lgbtq + interview. I am a gay metal dude living in fl that listens to mainly black and Death metal and some power and metal core. And alot of the times I feel invisible in the gay community and listening to you gives me hope . ty for being a strong outspoken independent woman!

Great video man! Have you ever thought about having drowning pool on? I’m sure they got some great stories to tell from this era of music.

I freaking LOVE Otep! One of my favorites of all time!
An unfortunate similarity: my biological father did the same thing to my Mom & I. He kicked her twice in the abdomen while she was 6 months pregnant with me (with his boots on), with full intentions to abort me. Luckily, my Mom managed to carry me to full-term and I was born without issue. And, the bastard got away with it...legally, anyway. She presses charges, but they were dismissed in court. Times were different back in 1976.

What did Bill Hicks say about music and drugs? She should probably take that to heart..

Man I grew up loving this band and followed everything they did from the very beginning. I finally got to see them in Nevada and it was great to see her perform but she seem to have something going on emotionally. She was rude during the show and the turn out wasn’t great but the people there still brought it. It was saddening to see being such a fan

I loved Otep, That first album blew me away as a kid. I wanted to marry her. I bought many of their albums after that but nothing really grabbed me. The Ascension was pretty good but Sevas Tra was their best by a long shot.
