Finally had a chance to watch! I’ve driven by the Lodge countless times ( relatives live in the Burg) and always wanted to stay there. Glad you had a good time despite the cold!
Yes we really loved it! Definitely one of my favorite non-Disney resorts! We've been really happy with all of the Marriott resorts that are either time shares (we don't own but you can still rent them) or this autograph collection.
Haven’t been there in about 10 years, but you two inspired my wife and me to make a return visit! She is looking into both the Inn and Lodge. As always thanks - Brian and you always provide a descriptive and fun account of your travels 🤙
Nice review. I stayed at the Williamsburg Woodlands in early December and really liked it. It's also one of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation hotels.
Yes, right next to the Visitors Center. We stayed in what looked the newer hotel looking area, rather than the motel looking rooms. Was a great room and only a two minute walk to the Visitors Center. From the Visitors Center you can take a bus to the historic area or you can walk out the back of the Visitors Center on a nice path and across a small bridge. There are metal markers/signs in the bridge that sort of transports you back to time. The signs say things like "you're in the 21 century"..."in 1920s women have achieved the right to vote' ..."1870s and the farthest you've ever been from your home has probably been 20 miles."---things like that, all the way back to 1770s. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the Visitors Center to the Historic area and nice to do at the start of the day but it's nice to know you can take the bus back to the visitors center.
From the visitors center is the only way we've ever entered until this trip. This was our first time staying on a connected property. Going to make it hard to go back to driving over. :)
The Lodge looked great. I think I was in there back in the 70s and 80s, but never stayed. We always have stayed in one of the hotel corridors about 15 minutes away. Love that it's right next to the historic area. Did not know it was a Marriott property. Have to see if the sister can hook us up for that spot. Thanks for sharing!
We tried to stay here a few years ago but had to cancel due to family issues. So we were excited to finally get to stay. Yep we stayed totally free on Marriott points!
Great review! Looks like you had a lovely room. Thank you for the Gluten Free review as well! It's my favorite hotel in Colonial Williamsburg with the location and how close it is to the spa!
Thanks! We really loved it! It's definitely my favorite now if going to Colonial. If going both there and Busch Gardens I think we still prefer the Marriott at Ford's Colony (time share but we just rent it like a normal hotel room).
We are booked at the Griffin Hotel, which is part of the Williamsburg lidge and inn group. Our email says we check in at the Inn and ha e free breakfast at the Lodge. I wonder how far apart these all are.
I love Williamsburg! I've stayed in the Lodge 9 times between 1999 and 2011 and we loved it, even through all the construction. But.....to be honest, I miss the old lobby. It was THE gathering place in Colonial Williamsburg especially after the fireworks on the 4th of July. . It was large but still cozy and had lots and lots of character. I find the new lobby a bit, IDK, too modern, too "new" I guess.
We love it there too! We didn't stay in the lodge until the lobby was already remodeled. We did stay in their rooms before and after the remodel so they must have started with the lobby.
I believe the bus shuttle runs all year to Busch Gardens. Busch is only 10 minutes from the historic area. I msad I miss y’all. I work at the college and I walk everyday in the historic area.
Great video. I really enjoyed it. I just want to mention that as a CW employee who books the CW hotels, only the Lodge is a Marriott property, the Inn is not.
Great review, loved hearing about it ! Looks like a first class getaway spot ! How far away from Busch Gardens is this? Glad you shared this with us. Deeply appreciate it. .....Rhino
We’ve stayed at the lodge every two years UNTIL Marriott changed the decor. Now the rooms are ubiquitous Marriott. You could be in Dallas, San Francisco or Philly. They stripped the room of anything Colonial and the chest of drawers won’t hold one person’s clothes for a week’s stay let alone two. Disappointed doesn’t begin to cover it. And the prices have sky rocketed.
Fabulous review. I have been to this hotel a bunch of times but never in the winter. I now want to go at Christmas time sometime. Thank you!
It's lovely a Christmas!😊
We are going for four nights in early March and your information was very helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Have a great trip !

Thank you for sharing your experience . Loved your video.
Thanks Timothy! :)
This is a great overview of the hotel, thank you!! Now, I really hope to stay here for our next visit!! Susan
Glad it was helpful! :)
Wow. The place is beautiful! And the room is beautifully decorated. Lots of storage!!! ⭐️

Welcome! Glad it was helpful! I don't think you'll be disappointed. :)
Great review, sounds like the next time we go it will be where we stay.
It really was a great place and to us a good value.
Sounded like an awesome trip
It was a great trip! 😀

Thanks Paul! We've seen those before - near the Visitor Center right?

The Adventures of Peas and Carrots! Score on the Marriott points! Even better bargain.
2 nights there wiped out our points but it was worth it. :)

The lodge in the inn are a very short distance apart, and in fact, they share the same spa building. The Griffin is a bit further away.

Thanks for the information Anna! Wow that would be an awesome place to do your daily walk! :)

Thanks and thank you for the clarification!!

It was so nice and really not that badly priced considering. It's about 20 mins from Busch Gardens. Same general area. Glad you enjoyed it! :)

The prices are up there for sure!
I stayed @ the Lodge in 2021. There was a hole in the closet ceiling. Front desk was not helpful.
