  • It was the ammunition that shouldn´t have worked, but did. In defiance of accepted science at the time, Raufoss engineers in the 1960s managed to create explosive ammunition that did not require mechanical fuses or detonators, the technology that led to the round known today as the "Raufoss" NM 140/Mk 211. But few today know why it was developed, or that for the first 30 years of its existence, no one knew exactly how it worked. This mini-documentary gives a brief glimpse into the incredible story behind Multipurpose ammunition, including an interview with one of its original designers.

There's a reason why the Swede's and the Norwiegens make the best weapons in the world, when your constantly threatened by Russia it would tend to do that.

I remember when General Purpose arrived for the Browning M2 heavy machine gun. Suddenly the discussion on what would replace the M2 stopped cold. There was no more interest.

I never could figure out how the Mk 211 round worked. And Nobody could explain it to me. After watching this video; I still don't understand how it works. But it's nice to know that the inventors were just as befuddled as me.

Seriously, those boats had soft steel hulls. If they fire those rounds at any real armor, they would squash outside the ship and make a bang/flash. .

The Luftwaffe had a 30mm with an exploding projectile. It did a lot of damage. During WW2 the British experimented with it and filmed one exploding when it hit a wing. There is video of Me-109 shooting at a B-17 and one projectile took off a big chunk of the rudder.

It’s embarrassing when fellow Norwegians open their mouths and start talking. Just listen to Jens Stoltenberg who is the Chief of nato. He travels the world and meets with presidents and prime ministers , he even live abroad. And he he’s accent is just atrocious!

Meanwhile, the "Russians" had no such plan ever (to invade Norway). Freaking paranoia.
